What the eff kind of defense was that against Hewitt? Those shots didn't seem remotely retrievable.

federer still has exceptional footwork even though it has slightly declined. i would say his court coverage speed is what has dropped off the most since his prime. these differences are very slight but can make big differences in results. as for the vids posted by the OP... not a good comparison considering hewitt hits the ball much softer than berdych so theres quite a big difference in the weight of shot however the point is still valid

I don't know why you're making this comparison. Are you going to make a comparison with the hair color of someone who's 40 vs someone who's 70?

Rog is probably slowing down because he's 30 years old !!! Give the guy a break. Anyone else surprised how a 30 year old hasn't once fallen out of top 5 and is ranked 3 at the age of 30? Now that's something to talk about. Where's Hewitt, Roddick, Safin, Blake, Nalbandian? All these other dudes are around roger's age but nobody remarks about how amazing it is see as what he's doing at his age.

That's how talented he is, he can be ranked as high up as he is at his age. Hell, Safin is retired. and I see some of the others close to doing the same thing.

If I was in my 30's on a tour that rewards gazelle like movement, I would pay someone to push me around in a wheelchair. Maybe he wants to conserve his legs, seeing as how he's clocked enough miles on them as it is.

Can I ask you a question, how come my Honda Civic with 250,000 miles doesn't run the same as when it rolled off the lot 20 years ago?

The man has paid his dues, give him respect and a break. Jeez, these threads are probably the most annoying troll threads out there.

He lost something (a step, or fraction of a step) in 07, to my eye. Anyways. . .

What I like most about him and his game is that, he probably recognized early on as a child playing that he could perform marvelous defensive feats--face it, Roger's defense at times particularly between 2003 and 2006 was a spectacle in and of itself--but he insisted on becoming the attacking player that he ultimately became. I like this about him. Roger's really effing cool, in my opinion.

Problem is according to number of people on this forum, your car should be running the same even(or even better) 14 years after you bought it. If your car shows a decrease in performance after 14 years then it must have never been a quality car to begin with.

Is that logical? Of course not, but when blinded by hate people tend to twist things to a tremendous degree just so it can suit their agenda.

Here, bloody here! It's probably a statement of the quality of player he currently is, and how well he still moves, that people forget he is a gerro by tennis standards.

I don't think it was the OP's intention to cast Fed in a bad light. Maybe it was to point out that Fed, in his prime, probably would've beaten these guys a lot more often than he has lately.

Wasn't talking about OP in specific but rather in general.

I don't know if Fed would have beaten or not beaten any of the players more often(the matches between top players are unpredictable) but there's no doubt he suffered a decline in physical aspects of his game, people who claim otherwise clearly have an agenda.

Federer really is like a Honda. Unparalleled in the beginning, still good enough to beat the best in the middle, and will always be running better than most up until the day it's scrapped.

Well if Federer has declined that much I don't know. He moved as well as Djoker in the US Open Semi this year, and Djokovic is one of the best mover's the game has ever seen - so what does that say?

come on you guys.. it is so obvious he is not covering his right half of the court at all.. he runs around his backhand and fails to cover the court in time.. I have seen him loose hundreds of points like this.. especially to nadal..

He did come close to beating Djoker, didn't he? I think he would've taken the US if he did. Not bad for a 30 year old.
How many other guys won slams post 30?
