With in a month, the tournament fee in SE MIchigan increase from $62 to $64 to $68. Anybody knows why?

It is probably because very few clubs want to have tournaments anymore so they jack the prices up on the tournaments they do have. In the old days when the draws were bigger a club could actually make money on a tournament and keep the prices down. Three or four players would withdraw and the club would keep the money. That would pay for the line judges, trophies, etc.

I am also guessing that it is due to the clubs making less and less money because membership is probably down.

SoFla Tournament fee's relatively stable. USTA Florida regulated them, BUT less places having events because:

Draws are smaller
Mandate that you have QS for 10s

Many clubs don't want to invest in the QS equipment.

Take out the fees the USTA National, Sections, and Districts charge and fees will go down. As it is now you have 3 fee for Tennislink, also Districts get $1-2 minimum per competitor for doing nothing that must be paid by the TD.
If the USTA would stop with all the extraneous fees then Entries could go down, but that dog sailed along time ago.

tournament entry fees for 10 and under in NE have come down from $49 to $28 where they played once and were eliminated now they have RR where they get to play three matches :) so new system is pay less play more :) before we had one trophy winner now we have several trophy winners :)

See this is how you do it. Our U11 Green Ball is over $45 No Points and Single Elimination. Don't need points but at least have a modified RR so you can get 2 Matches Sat/ 2 Sunday.

No need for U11 we have some U12 That are green and are RR , if participation level is high we have three winners all get ranking points in the 12's everyone is happy :) only problem fees have not come down they are the same but you get to play three times and get three trophies so in a way fees are reasonable
