The Fall of the Roman Empire By Peter Heather.

If you like detail oriented history its a good one but I warn you it is very detailed and some parts are just hard to get through.

Less than zero by Bret Easton Ellis

The most desturbing book I have ever read. I almost felt ill at some points because it was so vivid.

Like Catcher in the rye for the MTV generation.

Very funny!

Just finished the last Steig Larsson book, "The girl who kicked the hornets nest". What a great trilogy of books. Salander has to be the best female literary character in a generation. Too bad Larsson died, he had at least 4 more books planned in the series.

About to dive into Crucible of Gold by Naomi Novik, which just came out yesterday. I'm easily swayed by the guys over at Penny Arcade, which is how I first stumbled upon the Temeraire series. It's sort of an alternate history telling of the napoleonic wars from the perspective of a British naval captain... but with dragons. They really do make everything better.

Learnt that flatworms have no a-nus and use the mouth for both ingestion and egestion.

I read The Hunger Games last night. The plot concept was terrific, has everything that adolescent readers crave --- teen angst-filled romance, poor young folks rebelling against a rich and despotic ruling class, gladiator-style ritualized violence, unresolved ending leading to a sequel.

Unfortunately, the writing was pretty pedestrian. The part at the end about the dead combatants being morphed into wolf-like mutants was patently unbelievable. The combat scenes lacked detail or drama. No sex whatsoever (by design, I think).

I won't be reading Books Two or Three.

the person who wrote the hunger games is such a cheat, the original book was called battle royale.

I can't think of the word, not cheat, but if you copy someone else's stuff. I know you can get in huge trouble if you do it at college.

If you meet the Buddha on the road, Kill him! The pilgrimage of psychotherapy patients - by Sheldon Kopp.

Interesting read so far!

Mennonite in a little black dress by Rhoda Janzen. Hysterically funny descriptions of some traditional cooking, but overly pretentious vocabulary in parts was a little off-putting...
