NRG2 and Quasi Gut would be great strings to try if you hit flat. Neither are particularly good at spin production but both do offer great control on flat shots.

That is pretty funny marketing.
Normally I pick up on those types of errors quickly, but did not see that one at all. I feel like such a tool.

I threw out my Zebest rackets a few weeks ago. The grips were sticky and disgusting. It must have weighed over 14 pounds. I'm trying to get better about "letting go" of stuff but I think I'll hang on to the packs of string just for memories sake.

It's a heck of a lot better than my toyota.
I could relate until I made adjustments with my rebel. Flat hitting is so easy with that racket. I can actually compete in the wind now

That is the best way for me to play in the wind. Hit harder so that it does not carry balls out of the court. Just need to get the old feet moving.

I will be testing Gut Power 1.30, Hitech Multifibre 1.30, and Gutex Ultra 1.25 thanks to Fortun8son.
That's good! More cheap strings. I know you wanted to test more premium strings in this round of tests, but so far, it looks like price had no correlation to performance this time around.
Hey Mickeler! Just wondering how many hours the setup that you usually use lasts you? The b5e and thunder blast setup.
Used that setup for about 3 hrs today. really liked it, a lot more power, spin and comfort than i'm used to with big banger. Great on serves and groundies. didn't hit to many volleys though. My only concern is there is already a good amount of wear on it, or at least more than i'm used to.

I've got a suggestion, mikeler, but I'm not sure where in the range it fits, nor am I sure when it's coming out. But I was wondering, would you test the new WC multi when it debuts?

Well, I hadn't planned on testing those strings but when somebody sends me some free stuff it is hard to turn down.
I was thinking about trying the Pro's Pro Claycourt Plus anyways. Was also thinking about trying Maxim Touch 16 (I've only used the 17) and maybe a Goldenset multi. At this point, I'm so happy with Micronite that unless something better comes along with my next 6 playtests, I'll be switching to that for a little while.The one time I played it up to breakage I got 15 hours. All the other times, I'd restring at the 12 hour mark. The Thunder Blast black ink wears off quickly and gives you the impression of wear but it will hopefully hang in there awhile for you. If you end up liking it and near more sets, I'll give you the reel price.
Ooh, which one is this? I'm a WC fan as you know.

It won't take you long to become competent. My first string job I played really well with. I was kind of shocked. :shock:

Split sets last night against a guy who usually beats me. Despite the wind, my opponent and I were both playing well. The Micronite string looks awful but is still hanging in there. I was really expecting it to break last night. Just totally impressed with everything about it. Even my drop shots are starting to come around now so it just seems to strengthen every part of my game.

With all this talk of Weiss Cannon I thought I would post a couple thoughts on Explosiv.
I have this string in a Exo3 Tour 18x20 at 57lbs on a lockout. Usually string at 54 but they recommend upping the tension because of the string's elasticity. I should also say that I have only been playing these sticks for a month and I am still getting used to them and going through string testing to find a good setup.
I now have ten sets on the Explosiv and its fraying pretty good. Still, it is fairly durable.
It has a muted feel to it and is extremely comfy on the arm. A great string for anyone whose arm is tender from an injury.
I played fairly well with this string but can not say I really enjoyed ground strokes, which are a huge part of my game. Spin was fair and power was pretty good with very few balls randomly flying. However it seemed to me to lack directional control. Again, I am getting used to some new sticks, but I did not have that problem with PPA at all. It was as though the elastic nature of Explosiv had the ball getting, or at least feeling, lost at times.
Serves were fair. Touch was on the poor side for me. String movement is horrid.
Volleys were great though. Punchy and powerful. Again not much touch for drop volleys but really outstanding for punching volleys away. Doubles was fun with this setup.
Played this setup side by side today with Multifeel, which I played with quite a lot in my old raquets, Prestige mids. Multifeel was way better for me than Explosiv in an Exo3.

That's because racquettune is easily fooled. The greater the moving mass and the higher the compliance, the lower the resonant frequency. I think here it's the effective compliance decreasing as you break more and more filaments. So yeah, I think your second one is why. The actual bed tension though cannot increase, obviously.

Now it's all making sense to me. I tried MF 17 a few months back in my YTPMP @60 lbs. and it was bugging my arm. Went to Biphase 17 @58 on the next restringing and it was hugely more comfortable, even at the very beginning before any tension loss. Much more comfort than the 2lbs difference would account for.

I remember X1 and MF being fairly close in stiffness when I playtested them. I think X1 played firmer if I remember correctly. The only thing I can think of is that they are trying to improve durability with MF.

What color is the Multifeel that you are using? I just bought a set and am getting ready to string it up. It has a distinct grey tone to it when compared to other "natural" or white colored multis. I think mikeler stated that the first time he tried MF, it was whiter than the MF he used the second time.
It is pretty subtle but it does have a bit of grey tone to it.
The longer I stared at it the more grey it looked! Could be my eyes playing tricks.
It definitely plays quite firm and crisp.

I recall it being whiter but not completely white the first time I tried it. The greyness is what clued me in that something seemed different. Then again, you people see how many freaking strings I have tried and since I don't take pics of many of the string jobs I use, I have to go by memory.
