Hi everyone,
Just moved over to the UK from Australia. I am living in Hampshire at the moment while looking for work. Am also looking for a game of tennis, its been 1 month and Im sure the rust is setting in. I am an ITN 3 standard if that helps and in Australia my rating is 3.2 anyone interested let me know, i can hit in the afternoons/evenings a couple of days a week. Cheers

Welcome!

Not sure who's where but keep posting and you'll get someone round your neck of the woods piping up soon enough.

Welcome again.

(Gotta ask, why on earth would you trade Aussieland for .....)

Nice to see you again, after what we were talking about club nights etc, we should get Meags to come down this way and with the other disgruntled players we have here we should start our own league team!

^^^A UKTT Team would be pretty strong I should think!

Not to mention the best Coach to Player and Stringer to Player ratios ever :D

Pah, just sounds like another team where I wouldn't get a game! :p

Though I do like the idea of taking two Grand Slam stringers and stationing them in the clubhouse ready for a quick turnaround mid-set. A service that would probably never be required, as there are some who could switch racquets to a different make / model at every change of ends.

Has anyone here hit with the 2012 EXO3 Rebel 95? I'm just wondering how the stiffness compares to the EXO3 Tour as the RA rating is still low at 56? The softness of the EXO3 Tour has been a god send on my arm but call me crazy I just prefer the box beam and hoop shape of the Rebel.

No, you just sent it this way.........

Hate this country for rain, if the last couple of years is anything to go by we've had our summer and are looking forward to six months of pissy weather.

I can imagine the look on our faces is pretty much the same when we wake up on a tennis morning to hear the patter of rain on the window pane and the whistle of the wind through the trees. Oh the joy :(

Totally know what you mean re that "morning rain tennis ruined" expression as you lie there feeling mightily peed off. Ah well, apparently the drought is at least over.

Kids woke at 5 this morning, (why is that necessary on a Sat?) couldn't believe how nice it was even then, now have to go shopping to Poole for a childs birthday present before i can hit the courts later though, hope it stays clear!

he's already hitting proper forehands (not under arm) I don't know but that's gotta be future top 50 form for someone who's not yet two :)

Picked up some Nike Zoom Breathe 2K11s today. The Vapor Lunarlite's were far too painful for me! Think 1/2 size too big and also not much padding in them :(

Not the best idea ever since i'm in them for most of the day.

Strung one of my PDs with a hybrid but far too stiff. Few lbs lower next time!

Aggro, I love the fed lunarlites but the uppers kill your feet. Been wearing head, they are comfy and great stability but really heavy at 19oz. So was gonna get the 2k11's, do they feel stable and reasonably comfortable?

prostaff - So what's your verdict on the PD? Is it the latest version?

I used SPPP and Pros Pro Syn Gut 55/58. Felt very stiff to me.

Gonna try reduce the tension a few lbs and should be ok.

They feel very comfortably and my feet feel really locked in and stable. Will let you know after a full week of work/play!

Nice to be able to play some tennis today. Had a few minutes hit with a Max 200G I got off eb@y. Felt really nice and surprisingly easy to swing given its high swingweight; though if you didn't catch the ball quite right it would fly. Took me a few minutes to get used to using my Prestige again afterwards.

prostaff - So what's your verdict on the PD? Is it the latest version?

Ross, it's a 2nd gen swirly (Got it from Dave M). I've put a heat shrink on it so it weighs 334g and is slightly more headlight than stock.

:oops:Ashamed to say I liked it pretty much from the first hit......more solid feeling than I was expecting, not really tinny at all. The thing that struck me the most was the power.......I mean THE POWER that I am not used to having been using players frames for the last 5 years or so. But it was controllable power (surprisingly to me), I was swinging like I had a Prostaff in my hand but it still dropped in. Easy, controllable power on tap. I was impressed.

Also, it was good to volley with (which is important to me as I spend time at the net). Nice, solid and stable at the net. I played really well with it.

The only thing my shoulder/arm didn't like was the full poly stringjob in it. It played nice but my arm can't take full poly these days, especially in a stiff frame. I think I'll be OK with a hybrid though (may try Aggro's set up).

All in all, I like it. Never thought I'd say that, but there you go. Think it'll be a keeper.

Great stuff Will. I have the reverse of your "problem", ie when I play other frames (usually as I'm craving better stability, control or feel), I can't adjust to that lack of put away power (Exo Tour being a perfect example) the babs have in spades. BTW, I'm a big fan of the 2nd gen PD+ Swirly - a serve and b-liner weapon of mass destruction!

Beautiful sunny afternoon... so I spent it indoors stringing racquets whilst wistfully gazing out of the window. The problem with being a member of David Lloyd is that whenever you suggest playing outside, people look at you like you've grown a second head or something.

I'm another person interested in hearing about the 2k11's. I've pretty much worn through my current shoes, and whilst the Asics Speed Solutions are currently top of my 'to try' list I'm a little wary of the cost.

I think i bought something from them on e bay some time ago.Have you tried contacting priory sports in Christchurch, I know it's not that close to you but when bab stopped selling direct to coaches that was who they said i should go to for stuff.

I know what you mean, I loved the exo3 tour but felt like each rally was a war of attrition, (is that spelt correctly?) each time i'd think "there's the gap", i'd ever quite nail it, comfy as you like though aren't they.

Was that the poly i had in or had you re done it? I tend to have sleeves on them for the weight, spreads it around well and i prefer a PD with a more HL balance, you'll also be delighted to know that my other two have arrived here and you've qualified for firs dibs! ;-)
Does make you feel kinda dirty though doesn't it.
I took the h22 and a 6.0 95 out today, almost 3 hours of lovely sun and really strong wind up on our hill here, i think i prefer how the 6.0 plays, serve is harder work that's certain but i volleyed and groundies were sooo much better.
My PD with full vs may get another outing though....anyone say POWER!

Problems posting in the FS section

Does anyone else have problems posting in the FS section? I am trying to advertise a YTIG Prestige Mid and a Wilson Amplifeel BLX 95 18 x 20 and I have described the grip size, the condition and the price twice now and the add still isnt up...

Yeah it is. My arm is a tad stiff this morning, shoulder aching a little. I thought my arm wouldn't like it, haven't been able to play full poly for a while now, even in super flexi frames at low tensions. Shame really because it plays well as it is.

Think I'll be ok with a hybrid, don't want to lose that control from the poly.

Don't think I'm even going to bother stringing up the Exo Tour to hit with that, I know I'll like it but now I've got the taste for a bit of put-away power....

I think all ads get moderated/approved by the powers that be, before they go up. Maybe this is what's holding it up.

Every post in that section has to be moderator approved, which pretty much means posts only turn up when TW staff are working.

If it still hasn't turned up by the end of Monday (so probably Tuesday UK time), then I'd send them an email with a copy of your ad to ask what's wrong. The only obvious no-nos are:

- no Pro Stock
- no brand new frames

You should have done what I did: play with a Prestige for 3 years, then switch to the EXO3 Tour. To me it has oodles of put away power! Obviously this means I can never hit with a Pure Drive, else my bubble will be well and truly burst.

2 minutes until I can have another look at those Olympic tickets. Tennis on sale today, and whilst I wasn't keen on that initially, I may be starting to come around...

I have put 4 tickets for the semi finals in my basket.

Please wait while we check that the tickets you have requested are still available. Your estimated wait time is approximately 15 minutes or more.

Anyone taking bets that the system crashes in that time?

I'm sensing I could while my life away here. After requesting tickets and being told 15 minutes later that none were found, you then go back to the search and see that they're still listed. Which means that I'm now trying quarter final day, but have a heavy suspicion that it's already sold out to people who went for that first. Assuming tickets even existed at all, which seems slight - it's not like they've suddenly magicked a whole new batch of tickets out of their arse. Hmm...

I'm sure I heard on the radio this week, that people who went for tickets first time around and didn't get them, will get first refusal this time around. Perhaps this is what's happened.

^^^ That's the idea, but for a setting like Wimbledon they knew how many tickets were available at the start (unlike in some of the unfinished venues, which couldn't get guarantees until they had passed fire regulations), so presumably all were on sale first time around. This means that this round would be restricted to tickets people got, didn't want, and then decided to resell.

I've had 4 requests in the last hour, none of which were successful. Giving up today - I may have a go at the swimming tomorrow.

I think the whole process has been over complicated from the start. Try the beach volley ball........;-)

Topspin Cyber Blue poly mains 54lbs, Forten Sweet syn gut crosses 57lbs. I think both are 1.3mm. The Cyber Blue is super soft. I quite liked that set up.

Maybe they think that because the rackets are in excellent condition they are new. In fact they have been played -- but only long enough for my friends and I to decide that we dont like them that much.

Rate them no more than 9.5 to pass the mods. Better still, mention they're used, post lots of pics but give no rating.

They are based in Stockton / Middlesbrough iirc. Never bought anything from them, but customer service seems decent whenever I phone them up to check stocks etc.

First league match of the season, disaster!
Played ok first set, won 6-3, got completely hammered the next two sets, 2-6, 1-6!! We lost the plot completely. Couldn't keep the ball in play. The other pairs similarly bombed..

Have fun Ash! Keep us updated with your experiences :) No experience of that part of the world from me I'm afraid.

2 x Pure storms arrived yesterday time for a demo session and see how my arm holds up.

When i tried them before i loved the feel of them but couldn't generate any power or spin. Will try a few setup's today i think!

I've Pure Storm's and I find that I need to go lower on the tensions. Currently using TF X1 (red) with Bab Revenge at 51.5/48.5. I seem to have decent power and reasonable spin, although I'm not a big spin player. Found having the softer string in the mains helps with the power & comfort side.

^^^ Going for half pounds sounds like you're borrowing a page from our friend Dmitry's book.

Only cause 1st time stringing (my rqts) on Star V compared to Star 4, and it may come out a bit tighter.

Talking of Dmitiry, he's at Nottingham again.
