Very smart Murray.. Obviously he hasn't seen the horror stories of the multi-millionaire who have filed bankruptcy and made a hell of a lot more money then Murray in their careers. Thats where it starts. Spending 7 grand on a bunch of strangers in a bar

The t ab included the cost of the dinners as well. I hear the food was good so the tab seems like a bargain. (you've got to move in the right circles to understand the rationale)

Friends and family aren't strangers and he only spent like 1000 on the biggest night of his life after winning 1.9million. 1000 to him is like 100 to us.

Are you sure this story is correct? I heard that Andy ordered a lemon soda for everyone else and was taking in shots all night.

Murray's career earning are almost $24 million. Add at least $10 million in endorsements (being conservative here).

That's ~$35m in his bank account. So yeah, i don't think he'd think twice about $1k.

I think they said something about close to $100m from his watch endorser.
That's ... a lot of cheese.

I think it's really cute that he only had lemon soda.

:)

He doesn't much like alcohol. He said he never forgot how ill it once made him.
Besides which he hadn't had much sleep and had interviews to do the following morning so he needed to keep a clear head.

No doubt he'll celebrate a bit more now that he's back home!

six dollars for a lemon soda is a ripoff.

^ Are you saying everything was on the house (other than the tip).

It says "30 friends", so he can't be an introvert :)

Needs to work harder, Gordon Ramsay had 4 guys spend £40,000 (yes pounds, not worthless dollars) on one meal once.

You can get bottles of wine for £12,500 each, I'm surprised he didn't go for that.

Actually I'm not £12,500 = $5 million, so he would have wasted all of his prize money on one bottle of wine.

Wasn't there a story where Murray exclaimed at the cost of a dish in New York and Brad Gilbert told him "You just made the QFs at the USO you can afford it!"?

You forgot the 50% taxes.

How did this even get into the public eye? Too much. Anyways, I am really impressed that he knows alcohol is a total waste of your body.

If he had really wanted have a proper celebration, that $7000 could have gone towards LSD or MDMA or something of the like. But a $7000 bar tab? What a bloody waste.

I may be wrong, but after comps he 'only' paid $1289.The most shocking aspect is still water @ $8 per bottle!

Hahahahahahahaha

Try $10,000 to him is like $100 to us. He's already made $5M this year just from tennis. I'd say the percentage of the TTW population that makes anywhere near that is 0.001%.

If I choose to be corrupt in my line of work, I can certainly make more than that in a week :D

Andy Murray really needs to just not tip, just to wind the Americans up. The whole tipping thing is something that used to bug the absolute hell out of me when I lived in Canada. On the bill, the line where it says "tip", I would actually write "0", just to make a point.

But yeah, he should seriously take a trip to one of Gordon Ramsay's restaurants and treat everyone to a £12,500 bottle of wine, each.

Don't they now just add it to the bill as "Service charges". In my country, decent restaurants began doing (10 years back) that so that the tip gets distributed across all the staff rather than just the server.
