RG13 will be Nadal's last slam final win.

He will give it everything at RG13, beating Novak in an epic W08 like 5 setter. After that he won't win any more slams, he's done.

Since when does Nadal need to give everything at Roland Garros? He only dropped one set this year (and that set was only made possible because of the rain) lol.

As much as it is a guess, it still sounds like an educated guess for me... With the way things are going, this is more likely to happen.

Umm I'd prefer if RG 2012 is his last slam win, actually.
RG 2005 being his last slam would be even better... or no slam at all.

I think he has a lot more...I don't like it. He is too good to end with just 12 majors at such a young age.

Has at least 3 more years I think......so 3 more majors or more.

Who would win a match at the 2013 Australian Open between Nadal and Federer? If Nadal's final slam title is RG2013 then surely Federer would beat him at the AO, no?

According to my scientific calculations, RG 2015 could be his last (Jupiter will be in his 5th house along with Mercury). 2013 is too early. Anyway, this is all too speculative -- need to wait till he comes back and see what shapes his knees are in.

So what you're actually saying is that Nadal won't be part of the equation in 2014? I have to disagree, he'll definitely still be in his prime when he's 29-30, in 2014 he'll barely be 28 (so still plenty of prime years left).

Part of which equation ? JV's equation ? The one Federer is no longer a part of ? :D :D

Rafa's prime will last forever, unfortunately his knees and his mind (read: burnout) won't. I'd like to be proven wrong, but I don't see him playing when he's 29/30.

It must be blowing the Federer fans minds that Nadal may end up being a better slam player at age 30 than Federer is/was. Truth is, Nadal is so great at Roland Garros that it will take a long time for him to leave the scene. Federer was never as dominant at any of the other slams.

lol, there is literally zero chance of Nadal being a better slam player at age 30 than Fed. Heck, he might not even play at 30.

So you've proved you are NSK again. Nice to have you back Sir, we were worried. I don;'t think anyone doubts Nadal's dominance at RG (or clay for that matter). You needn't be so insecure as to have to repeat it over and over.

We'd like to see him back in shape. Most of us are satisfied with whatever Federer has achieved. We've enjoyed watching him play and hope he continues another couple years. If someone else eclipses his records or achievements, great for him, will not take away from Fed.

It's not like suddenly Sampras or Agassi or Borg are forgotten/devalued just because Nadal or Fed are here.

Wasn't AO2009 Nadal's "last slam final win", too? I remember him being "done" when Soderling upset him at the French, Nadal skipped Wimbledon and then went out meekly to Del Potro. Then he came back to dominate 2010. He had a year and a half gap between slam victories.

My guess is Nadal wins more majors than Federer from this point forward.

No doubt. Any logical person can see that Nadal isn't finished. But his haters are full of hope right now.

I want them to get a shock when it happens. I wonder if anyone here is still traumatized by the "tragic" events of 2010, after they surely would have celebrated Nadal's retirement in 2009

He may not win outside of clay again, but he's a got few more RG in the bag. Who can defeat him there?? Djokovic if he plays his best tennis, but Nadal is still the favorite. Del Potro has a shot. But I don't see it.

How would you know that people here were traumatized by events in 2010 ... considering you joined in 2011.

In any case, ... TTMR, i think most people here regardless of which camp they are in agree that Nadal will most likely win more slams from this point onwards than Federer. So that;'s not exactly a revelation. Fred's chances are very slight.

You have to be able to differentiate between wanting (hoping for) someone to win slams, and where we place the likelihood.

I didn't need to read talk tennis (let alone post) to know of the tragic events of 2010 - 3 straight slam titles. The only thing I wonder about is whether or not any haters in the forum today were posting in 2009. 2010 may have eliminated a lot of haters.

Don't believe a word about how serious Rafa's injury is. How many time has his career been written off due to the knees And each time he comes back like nothing's wrong.

Nobody said this injury is career-threatening, so after he recovers there's no reason why he shouldn't be able to come back at his best level. Especially when his goal is to play for at least 4 more years.

Probably be back for the Davis Cup final.

Spain don't need Rafa for that final. They never need him they have many good players. Rafa said that he would not be playing DC this year as he wanted to concentrate on Olympics! haha! He didn't even show for that because of his Rosolitis. So, the Armada should tell him ''no'' if he wants to play in that final. Rafa was selfish enough not to play in the rounds, why should he be allowed to come back and collect a trophy he didn't even work for?. I hope they tell him how it is if he wants to do his usual DC final ploy without putting in the matches like the others. Why should one of those guys lose their place to accomadeate Rafa? They must stop him doing that this year. It sounds like the story of the little red hen.

You're clearly ********.

Another "respectful, reasonable" Federer fan, I see.

Again, you were probably one of those people (under a different username, of course) who foamed at the mouth when writing Nadal off after RG09. Federer may have won his last major, he may not have, but he's only won one in two years, with one additional final. During that same period, Nadal has won two majors and made three additional major finals. Most Federer fans would probably agree Nadal is more likely to win more slams from this moment forward. No one is contending (besides possibly NSK) that Nadal will win more overall, cumulative slams.

Couldnt agree more with you.If they allow Rafa to play the DC final,it would be stupid. He only wants to play in the finals and take all to credit and attention to himself. The other players work their way to the final.Rafa wants to be a person who earns a lot of money without doing anything.Once the sponsors turn their back on him,he will try to comeback only to be humbled like Borg after his comeback. All the signals are there that he already retired ugly sponsorship deals, resigned from the council so on.

Nadal already said (about 3 weeks ago) he was "maybe" playing in the Davis Cup semis. Of course, he didn't, but he was planning to. Also, Nadal would prefer to return to action on clay rather than hardcourt. That would be the Davis Cup final. The captain decides who plays, not the players. And the captain almost always goes with the best players available. If Nadal makes himself available, he'll play. I don't trust Almagro in the final. He'll probably win his matches, but "probably" isn't good enough. And the purpose of playing the Davis Cup final is to win, don't forget. Nadal is only playing if he's fit, and a fit Nadal doesn't lose Davis Cup.

Nadal retired from the ATP player council (a few months ago) because nearly every player in the top 100 supported Nadal's suggestions (according to Davydenko), yet President Federer stood in the way. It is a pointless council. Also, Federer criticized Nadal for talking about issues in public (and then Federer went on to talk about his own issues in public, typically). Nadal's problem, was Federer. That is why Nadal resigned. I'm glad Nadal resigned, because Nadal will play the Australian Open, while the others will boycott.

Tennis MVP. I think Rafa knew he would not play DC semis, like he knows he is out for the whole year time ago. Why does he keep up the lies and his dumb fans believe all of it. The captain is silly if he chooses Rafa to play DC. Rafa seems to only show for the finals which isn't nice at all. Spain can beat Czechs to win title without Rafa. I don't know what Rafa is planning but he is too much of a joker for me these days. He just disappears all the time.

Do you know how rare Hoffa's syndrome is? It is not easy to forecast the recovery. It's recovery time is based entire on rest, and it is impossible for Nadal to know when he'll be ready. He said he was hopeful of being ready for the Davis Cup semis, but he never said he knew he'd be ready for it. If the fans want to go nuts over Nadal's uncertainty, that's their problem.

So you would rather Spain lose the final than Nadal play? Almagro is no sure thing vs an elite team. And Spain's doubles combo has never been reliable. You obviously aren't a Spanish fan, let alone a Nadal fan. First rate hater.
