Thanks. Willing to dish out money to join. Need to start playing again and would like a place to meet new ambitious people here in nyc. I've seen some clubs here are WASP only. Coming from CA I find this disgusting.
Also any other clubs that are cool places to work out / hang out even if there is no tennis would be appreciated. My old club had an outdoor hotub with palm trees and up close views if the city skyline.

Do you get ball kids if you book the courts for $85 - $150 per hour?
Omg that's so expensive....
Just to give you an idea
Here in Casablanca, you can book very decent outdoor clay courts for 6$/hour.
And for ball kid you add 3$.
Man I'd love to have ball kids. Too cool.
Isn't that why married couples have children?
I mean, you need someone to cut the lawn, retrieve the garbage cans, and perform as a ball kid during your recreational match...
I lived and played in NYC for over 20 yrs and never heard of WASP only clubs in the city.......I would think you need to go to CT to find those:twisted:
The Racquet and Tennis Club on Park Ave in the 50's is an old-school men only club which is extremely exclusionary.
There's also a very exclusive tennis club extremely far eastside in the high 40's or low 50's (somewhere south of Sutton East tennis) that is invite only and requires tennis whites, collared shirts, etc. Can remember the name and, to be honest, I live fairly close to there and have never even seen the place, but know folks that have played there.
Are you suggesting they exclude non-wasps? Or they just exclude non-rich people?

go to fred johnson park also known as the jungle. the very place where the great althea gibson learned to play the game. 8 pristine hard courts with lights in the heart of harlem. the best deal in town.
