What are the most one sided GS final you ever seen

For me it's

1. Fed vs Hewitt: two bagels at 2004 US Open final
2. Nadal vs Fed: 2008 RG

Are one of my favourite ones.

Jimmy Connors over Ken Rosewall in the 1974 US Open final. Connors won 6-1, 6-0, 6-1.

ouch..

But he got his courtesy of Mac Wimbledon 1984 6-1 6-1 6-2

But I'm guessing what you posted is THE most one sided in terms of total games won?

The 3rd set of RG 2008 was incredible. Fed looked like he didn't know where to go on the court. It was like he regressed back to his junior days!

It's one of three. The others are:

1881 Wimbledon F: William Renshaw def. John Hartley (6-0, 6-1, 6-1)
1936 Wimbledon F: Fred Perry def. Gottfried von Cramm (6-1, 6-1, 6-0)

He was basically like a lost puppy, Nadal slapped forehands everywhere and Federer had no chance. Of course his fans still claim his 'mono' may have affected his performance.

Stop throwing shade to Federer fans. Im a big Fed fan but Nadal won because he was too good. Federer has a couple of chances here and there in the second set, but it was a virtually flawless performance from Nadal that day.

Nadal was in such imperious form that tournament, I mean just just jaw droppingly good.

That may be his peak clay form so far.

Federer knew he could do nothing that day, accepted it really well, then went on to win Halle and reach Wimbledon final. Very impressed he could brush it off so well. I wonder if it is easier to blow off heavier thrashings rather than close matches?

LOL, it's funny how you're the first guy to mention "mono" on this thread. Maybe it's the detractors that are so insecure that they have to mention it :)

Rafael Nadal vs roger federer, RolandGarros2008. Nadal showed that federer will never, EVER beat him at RolandGarros or in a slam again.

Initially it started as Nadal being just a clay-courter who would trouble federer. Now, it's no longer a joke. Reality has hit federer. 8-2 in the slam h2h. federer BELONGS to Nadal. :p

Why the two losses then?

I like Federer, not a huge fan. I don't have anything against him, I just find that people seem to use the 2008 Federer mono case to mask his poor season compared to previous standards.

Just accept it, Fedfart. Fed will never beat Rafito in a poker tournament ever again.

You may "like" Federer, but your ****ness towards another player causes you to spew a lot of hate.

I'd say his "mono" affected his Australian Open performance and possibly his preparation for the French Open. But like I always say, if you decide to play, you're fit. Doesn't matter if you've got Cancer or a missing arm.

For some reason Roddick always seemed like he was missing an arm when he faced Rodger in GS finals .

Every player has uncharacteristic losses early in their career. Nadal hasn't lost to federer in a slam since 2007. federer also lost in the first round of Wimbledon three times. And Nadal has NEVER lost in the first round of ANY slam. :p

Yeah, just the second round  Very impressive! :p

Losing in the first round when you have yet to warm up and get used to the courts is understandable. Actually winning a match and THEN losing to a bum in round 2 is embarrassing. Winning SIX matches and then losing to a guy you "own" in the final is "ground open up and swallow me please" time.

Hewitt at least put up a respectable fight in that second set against Federer.

Aside from a few games at the start of the second set during the 2008 RG final, Federer just rolled over and died. It was a hard match to watch as a Fed fan.

Hewitt v Nalbandian Wimbledon 2002

And Federer v Hewitt Us Open 2004

Funny thing is French Open 2004 threatened to be most one sided ever in Coria's favour but as we all know he wound up losing that match!

Well... I saw Edberg showing what serve and volley when executed correctly can do against a baseliner of Jim Courier's caliber at the 1991 US Open final, leaving Courier basically helpless.

I don't see many women being noted.

Every time this is brought up, the first match that comes to mind is Steffi Graf's 6–0, 6–2 win over ASV in the '94 AO final.

Aamof, she didn't drop a set the entire tournament, iirc. I wonder what caused her level to drop so fast, that next GS. Seles wasn't there to worry about....

As to matches I actually watched, Nadal over Fed at Roland Garros would, on paper, be the most one-side, since Fed only won 4 games. But, even as incredible of a player as Fed is, I never thought it was out of the realm of possibility. Nadal at his clay court peak, and Fed not being "on" - a blowout didn't surprise me, as once Fed got behind, Nadal just started steam rolling. It was over too fast for Fed to even get a chance to recover or make at least one set score respectable.

Edberg over Courier 6-0, 6-4, 6-2 in the 1991 USO Final was more surprising to me, because Edberg was never dominant over Courier on any surface. Edberg had lost to Courier in a Slam earlier in 1991, and Courier would win the final four matches of their rivalry (including 3 matches in Slams) after this match. It's probably Edberg's perfect match. Generally, their best of 5 matches were at least competitive (4 or 5 sets), so this was quite an aberration.

Murray's first 3 finals were pretty dismal. Especially the thorough pants down thrashings in Australia, at the hands of federer and djokovic.

I was wondering when Murray would make an appearance. True he was straight-setted on each occasion but the 3rd set against Federer was a narrow tie-breaker that went to 13-11. Hardly a 'thorough pants down thrashing' compared to some of the lop-sided scores we've been reading on here!

Schuettler certainly didn't look average when he beat Nalbandian and Roddick at that 2003 Australian Open.

Hard to look average when the opponent in the semifinal hasn't recovered from 21-19 and is carrying a wrist injury..........

Really? Wimbledon 2004, US Open 2006 (and Blake too) and Wimbledon 2009 he was really the only one who didn't look hopeless against Federer and could have won US Open 07 despite losing in straights lol. Wimbledon 2005 Roddick did well to even make the finals he was that bad.

What about the 5 Wimbledon finals that Sampras won without getting broken. The opponents would have felt helpless.
