Dortmund couldn't reject the offer since the amount offered triggered the minimum fee release clause in Gotze's contract. So they didn't have much say in the sale of him.

Interesting to see Barca, for once, not being most people's tip to go through. Will be fascinating to see if the Germans can pull off a big win - and I mean big, because 1-nil, even a 2-0 victory is leaving a side like Barca something of a chance most likely.

I would love to see the Germans smash them. Hell, if Milan can, BM def has a shot.

I didn't know that. He has always been linked to clubs and the price quoted was £40 Million+.

It looks like Bayern are favourites to get Lewandowski too. I wonder if that signals the end for Klopp? He's always said he feared the Bundesliga turning into the Scottish league with Celtic making it a one team league. England looks far more competitive, with 5 teams all fairly close together. I could see him at City or Arsenal for sure.

Bayern just had Barca beat Physically today, at times they were a little too brutal but Robben was a boss tonight. Just another efficient performance by Munich. As usual.

Would love to see an all German final....

Barcelona were terrible today though. Couldn't tell that Messi was on the pitch

I wonder if this is the start of the Bayern era. They have done very well in Europe over the last few years, now they've beaten Barcelona 4-0, are bringing in Guardiola, Gotze and possibly Lewandowski.

I can see them being the favourites for the next 4-5 seasons.

Now I just hope Dortmund can make it through aswell, that would be a great final.

That third goal though... the guy just bulldozed him :D

Not to take anything away from how totally Bayern had the measure of Barca this evening, but that third goal was completely outrageous. Since when are you allowed to full on body-check your opponent?

Do UEFA intend for Bayern and Madrid to share the trophy?

I expect Madrid to get three penalties, Dortmund to have two players sent off and Pepe and Arbeloa will trip, stamp and dive their way to 87th minute bookings for time wasting tomorrow night.

Wow. That was something else.

However, I think Madrid have the physicality to contend with Bayern.

It would have been great, though, for Mou to win Madrid their coveted decima against Barcelona of all sides, and then stroll down to Chelsea whilst sticking up two fingers at Madrid's management and the Spanish media.

I'd take that prediction down the bookie if I were you - you'd probably get some wicked odds on all that happening. If all goes to plan you'd be able to retire tomorrow evening I reckon.

I don't know but I enjoyed the hell out of it

They are so Messi centric now. I always wondered how barca would fare against a physical side and a ref that allowed physical play.

I guess I have the answer. Real and BM would be an epic final.

And to think BM had to start without Manzukic.

Alexis Sanchez is so overrated

Mandzukic isn't even that good but has been fit all season whereas Gomez hasn't.

From an article in tomorrows paper:

"Chelsea are so committed to signing Falcao, 27, this summer that they have spurned the chance to negotiate a deal for Cavani, 26. The Uruguayan has long been a favourite of owner Abramovich and technical director Michael Emenalo.

The Napoli forward’s representatives recently approached Chelsea officials about a potential summer switch, indicating Stamford Bridge would be Cavani’s preferred destination should he move to England. But Chelsea waived the option given their commitment to the Falcao deal"

Talk about putting all your eggs in one basket, I hope they know what they're doing.

I wonder if Cavani bites as well.

Haha, I think there's only room for one biter up front for Uruguay :)

I wonder where he'll end up, he's scored alot of goals this year, but he hasn't played as well as he did the last few seasons. £60 Million is a risk of sorts I think.

I agree fully. It was classless and awful for both teams involved.

And to hear that Bayern tapped him up (i.e had approached him with regards to paying his buy-out fee) before they had made any kind of official contact with Dortmund. Horrible.

Did you see the Hoeness interview last month? He basically put down every other club, saying nobody has the class that Bayern have. I had to laugh when I read it, now a few weeks later he anounces the signing of their biggest rivals best player two days before their Champions League semi final. Yeah, really classy Bayern.

I thought Falcao was going to Utd?

He always gets linked with City, Chelsea and Madrid. It's only in the last few weeks Man Utd have been mentioned, which doesn't make a whole lot of sense I don't think. They have van Persie, Rooney, Hernandez and Welbeck.. i'd of thought Ferguson would look to strengthen the midfield instead of bringing in a 5th striker.

The special one... or should that be the quite not so special one?

Well, whatever happens hence with Chelsea or whoever, as it certainly appears RM are out (barring a miracle), I find it interesting that arguably Mourinho's spell at Real, with all the funding in the world and a few years to achieve his aims, will likely be considered a failure.

BTW, with rumours of Zidane and others in the running for the Madrid head post, and with Jose's and others before him failing to win the one that perhaps counts most - the Champions League, why don't they go in for DiMatteo?! I'm still non-plussed by the decision to jettison him so early considering he actually won the CL, and it's not as if CFC were spiralling down the league table either.

I'm with you on Di Matteo, we were 4 points off the lead at the time I think. To get rid of him was a bad decision, Abramovich gets a bad rap for getting rid of managers but i've agreed with alot of his decisions.

As for Mourinho's achievements at Real, personally I don't think they're all that great of a team. They're very good, but not as good as the likes of Barcelona and Bayern Munich. Being knocked out of the Champions League by those two, whilst losing the La Liga to Barcelona aren't huge disgraces.

Either way, it will be interesting to see who replaces him in the summer and how well they do. Whoever their manager is, it's hard to see them topping Barcelona and Bayern.

Klopp will replace him, especially after yesterday. MARCA were going nuts about how awesome he is in the past week leading up to the match, and after yesterday it's hard to see Madrid not giving him a huge offer and a matching massive transfer budget. Plus, this current Dortmund side will be sold off relatively soon, Hummels to Barcelona is practically a done deal, Gundogan is off within a season or two, Reus will move to a bigger club, Shain returns to Madrid, Lewandowski will head to United if Falcao doesn't sign (or Chelsea?), Kuba is getting up there in years, Subotic will probably go to Arsenal sooner or later, etc...

Yeah there's tons of quality in their reserves and youth ranks and they're getting Son from Hamburg this summer, but little by little the club is going towards a transitional period.

I'm not sure about Klopp leaving, I can't see him going to a club like Chelsea or Madrid, he just doesn't seem the type to work under the conditions. I really hope they get to hold on to their big players, with the exception of Gundogan of course! It's pretty gutting to think i've been wanting him for 3 years, back when he was at Nurenberg. Now the likes of Barcelona and Madrid are after him and his price is £20 Million+, bad times.

I see the tradition of shocking decisions is showing no signs of stopping. In the Quarters there were 2 poor penalties go against us, another one again today, Aguero stamping on Luiz, Suarez biting Ivanovic, Sturridge escaping a red card at the weekend before setting up the equaliser. Our luck has to change soon, surely!

I thought it was a poor game overall, but as an away team in Europe, it was a decent performance I think.

Yeah that penalty, Basel players and fans appealed for everything all game, as you would expect. It was funny the only one they didn't appeal for as it was so clearly not a penalty, they got :)

I was worried for Federer, did you see him finding his seat for the second half? He had to hop over some seats to get there, I thought he was going to put his back out again :)

RE the upcoming Arsenal-Man U game, I'm hearing alarming things about Fergie maybe giving a run-out to 18-year old kids, peripheral squad players, and probably the kit man, physio, and Sir Bobby Charlton himself.

And as for the so called 'guard of honour'? Do me a favour, please!

All I can say is I hope the Arsenal faithful give Van Persie absolute hell for the whole match, something akin to how we used to greet Sol Cambell on his return visits to the Lane.

However it comes, a little extra help may be needed to get Man U fully firing, I fear.

I don't see why he would play the kids, it's not like they still have the Champions League or FA Cup, so totally changing the team doesn't make alot of sense.

I don't think it will matter much anyway, I think Arsenal will get 3rd regardless. Spurs will get 4th, you don't have to worry too much about that. Our remaining games are tough, Swansea on Sunday for example, and that's one of the easier ones! Ahh well, 5th is still an improvement on last years 6th.

Speaking of Gundogan, de Bruyne wants Chelsea to accept the Dortmund offer. I'm thinking we see how much they really want him and offer a swap :)

It's tough seeing Matic at Benfica, he's favourite to be player of the year in Portugal this season. We sent him there as part of the Luiz deal, now he's wanted by Man Utd and Juventus with a £45 Million release clause. He reminds me of Toure in midfield, how we could use someone like that. We can't keep giving up our best young players as part of deals, the only way i'd accept de Bruyne going would be if an equally talented midfielder came in return. With all the talent we have behind the striker and out wide, losing one to strengthen the base of midfield, which is our weakest area, is the only way it makes sense.

Funny, earlier on during the game I was fuming with disbelief. But nearing the end, a nirvanic moment of pure truth passed over me. :)

Yes, the realisation suddenly dawned that we probably aren't actually quite good enough for a top 4 finish in the PL. We certainly aren't good enough to beat Wigan - either home or away this season (and BTW, we didn't deserve to draw today, we lucked out against a team fighting for their lives.)

The complicating factor is that victories over Man U and City etc indicate that at playing at our very best, or beyond that, then, yes, we're top 4. But over a season, we may fall a little short. I don't know why, but for some reason this home truth, with a certain zen like acceptance, only registered this afternoon. Anyhow, what will be, will be, and all of that...

Talking of which, what a trouncing, what a total annihilation and capitulation from Pardew's magpies, who are now looking nervously around and just below them in the table.

Some strange results today, it will be interesting to see if Newcastle can keep hold of their big players after a poor season. No doubt Cabaye will get alot of interest.

Gutted Wigan couldn't hold on against Spurs, that would of been useful. It seems at the moment like our rivals are getting the late goals to pick up points, whilst we are conceding them to drop points. Could be crucial.

It also looks like Wolves are going down to League One, after being in the Premier League this time last year. Weird to think that my local team of Port Vale will be playing them next season, the gulf between the two sides is huge.

Interesting read on bbc page today:

It's a tough one, I go to the Villa and Wigan away games so it will be a shame to see either one of them go down. Wigan are always in this position, they keep on surviving, but it's getting a bit old now. I think Villa deserve a chance, they are basically playing a youth team. Surviving will give them confidence and I think they have potential.

I'd feel awful for Wigan if they end up going down, same goes for Villans. Neither team has played defensive, dull football this season and have been getting goals spread throughout their squad. Sometimes that's football though, the game (and life) can be cruel like that.

If Villa go down they'll pull a Newcastle and go straight back up, I feel. Way too big of a club to languish in the Championship. A season to get their collective heads right and a few changes to make and then right back into the thick of things.

Same goes for Wigan if they drop down and Martinez stays with them. If Wigan go down, I heard that Madrid might come calling for him, which he certainly deserves. If he can get Wigan to play attacking attractive football he can make gods out of Madrid's players and he'd build a hell of a team with the money given to him. I'd prefer him taking Wigan straight back up though, with a point to prove.

Wolves fans do have a pretty good sense of humour! I think you have to, with all the teams in the area, the banter with neighbours, at work etc.. If they all took the ribbing seriously there would be fights breaking out all over the place :)

I don't feel sorry for Wigan that much, they keep getting themselves in this position. It's like they tell themselves they don't have to try until April, then they can turn it on and save themselves, I don't really like that. Do you think Villa would come straight back up? It would be interesting, no doubt their young team would be better matched against Championship teams, that experience could help them when they do make it back up. I think it might take a season or two for them to get back though.

It would be funny if Martinez does go to Madrid :) I can't imagine their fans being too happy with them getting a manager who just got relegated with Wigan! Haha.
