You only have to scroll down a bit on this very page to find the exact same poll and a long thread dealing with the same question, "superhead."

Should I get the S4 now ?? I have the S3 and if I sell it, I will get around $150 credit. but new S4 will cost about $600. so I have to haggle with Verizon but I will still end up having to pay ~$300-$350 out of pocket. Should I get the S4 ? or I am seriously considering the NOTE 3 too. but I will still have to pay about $350 out of pocket because I am too early for Upgrade.
I have been hearing S5 will be released next year, most likely next march or April.

You left off the HTC One, which is as good a phone as either the Samsung S4 or Apple 5S.

close as good but not same good. HTC one has limitations that S4 or 5S does not have, that makes it sucky. S4 wins cause bigger screen size.

Question is that NOTE 3. is this just as good as phone or apps as S4 ? if you don't mind the bigger size ?

Lets just admit it once and for all. S4 BLOWS away this TINY screen imitation of smart phone called Iphone5s

No way... I would never consider that plasticy S4 brcause it's simply too damn big... If I want a large screen I'll grab my ipad... Otherwise it's great having a phone I can't tuck in my pocket and not have the thing being a bear to remove

Depends whether you need one NOW or not.

Apple is sold out, buy now & I gotta wait till end October.

Samsung S4 plenty available, just walk into any Samsung store or telco agency.

It's interesting. I have recently turned to the dark side (apple) simply because that's what work have provided.

I've always been an android guy, and mocked apple fan boys mercilessly.

except.

this thing is actually fantastic. as a functional phone that doubles as a music player and internet device, the iPhone is unbeatable.

smaller screen size? sure, it is. So now the damn thing actually fits in my pocket!

no expandable memory? correct. But then, 32G is more than I can use.

(what sort of tragic person watches movies on a smartphone?)

and here's the thing, everyting works. first time, every time. no need to muck about finding apps that allow you to feel like you have an iPod, you actually DO have one!

I wonder if Android is the new millenium's answer to the Sirius Cybernetics Corporation. You get such a sense of achievement out of
a) getting it to work at all and
b) the smug satisfaction of knowing you aren't following the apple herd

that you

c) fail to notice it's actually a piece of cr@p

That's silly, status symbols by definition are acquired for display more than for use, smartphones are pricy but extremely useful and constantly used--- maps, photos, music, entertainment, friends&family communication, checking work email from afar, etc etc. They're genuine life enhancers, and I say that as someone who had a flip phone until last spring (and currently is rocking an 8GB iPhone 4)....

After 24 hours using a 5s I can say its the greatest phone I've ever had hands down.

The Fingerprint sensor is not a gimmick when you are bound by corporate 8 char password policies. It is worth the cost of the phone for me. It's so fuchen convenient and reliable.

I am in lourve with the 5S.

I was very skeptical but not anymore. Worthy upgrade.

Maps - Most people know how to get where they are going

photos - Photography is a recreational activity

Music - recreational activity

entrtainment - recreational activity

friends and family - irksome recreational activity

checking work email from afar - useful but when does work end and recreational activity begin?

What a nauseating post.

And this coming from someone who started a thread to debate about which overpriced headphone set is best for listening to music.

You can start by putting that Headset, Ipod, and Computer on the bay and donating all revenues to the needy worldwide.

iPhone is amazingly cheap for what it is, all you young uns

I've paid more each buying my Ericsson GF788, then T28 and T39
than a basemodel iPhone of every generation.

And that's in straight $dollar terms, not even indexed for purchasing power parity.

And the 5S 128GB is STILL cheaper than my Newton MessagePad

it is too small man. I can't even read the texts on that thing and watching movies while driving is nearly impossible with it. I was watching the US open final while driving 60 mph and it was very dangerous. I blame the Iphone for that.

If you are considering the S4 then look at the LG G2. Similar to the S4 only better in just about every way. It's an evolutionary step ahead and the screen wont disappear when you use it outside on a sunny day.

There is no comparing the size of the S4 to an iPad. The reality is; the S4 is much, much closer in size to the i5s than the iPad. Still, it may be beyond the acceptable phone size threshold for some. For people who are on the move and need to communicate in a variety of ways, a phone with a large, functional screen is quite handy.

I wondered the same thing, so through the Google search engine on the internet, I was able to confirm that Verizion does, in fact, carry the LG G2.

The Verizon version is unique in that the power button and volume rocker are smaller than on the other three carrier's devices and the VZW G2 allows for wireless charging. All versions have the unique placement of the power/volume buttons on the back of the phone. I've handled both the at&t and VZW versions and much prefer the buttons on at&t, though I think none of it should make or break anyone's decision.

As far as the display goes, the G2 display is one of the best, if not THE best, on any smartphone. I was very impressed seeing it in person and I couldn't tell you of another display that is as sharp and beautiful. LG also makes the retina display for Apple. The G2's screen is bigger than the sg4 while keeping the phone's dimensions practically the same as the Samsung. The Galaxy 4 screen is very nice, but the two problems I have with its Super AMOLED display are the colors tend to be oversaturated and almost cartoonish, and the screen is very hard to read outdoors in sunlight compared to Apple and LG screens. If I only knew of the SAMOLED displays, I'm sure I'd be pleased enough with it, but after seeing a great IPS LCD display, there can be no going back.

I have the 5 and still love it after a year.

If I had to pick one of the two I'd take the 5s. 64 bit architecture, SoC that is crushing all competitors in benchmarking and the fingerprint tech that actually seems to be useful (according to people I know with the phone). I also personally prefer the size of the 5(s). I'd go a bit bigger, maybe 4.3-4.5", but I've held the S4 and just find it too large for my own personal tastes. I don't care to watch a lot of media on my phone so I don't need a huge screen. I'm also invested in the apple Ecosystem which factors in as well.

Both seem like great phones, but I've been happy with my iPhone so far.

My 64gb iPhone 5 is on the bay and bidding is heating up at $520. My 5s cost me $468 total.

LoL @ resale value on Apple products.

The 5s is in the process of entering pure historical phone GOAThood. Love it like a love song baby.

This phone gets me laid like crazy too.

Just saw a review of the G2 on youtube. Specs-wise, this phone is a total beast!

Bottom line is that both the S4 and the 5S are great phones depending on what your need is at the time. If you own a macbook or iPad or have invested a lot in iTunes or want a more pocketable device the 5S will compliment them nicely but if you want a large full HD viewing experience or use a lot of Google Applications then the S4 is probably best for you.

Both phones are great in some areas and not in others.

http://www.gsmarena.com/lg_g2_vs_samsung_galaxy_s4-review-984p3.php

Both phones have great displays and I'm not surprised to find one review pick one over he other, though these GSM Arena guys got the outdoor viewing criticisms backwards so I don't know how much stock I'd put into their display review. I've noticed that with smartphones in particular, it's probably not a good idea to make a buying decision based on one review. Thankfully (?) there is no shortage of smartphone reviews available. It's helpful to read many reviews and see what consensus develops and what issues reoccur when forming an opinion. The best easy way to compare displays is to stop at a local retailer and look at both phones side by side. Just keep in mind the Samsung display may look very washed out or even unreadable if you take the device out of the store on a sunny day.

Here is a review that champions the Lg's display as the best they have ever seen on a smartphone: "It boasts fantastic color reproduction and near-perfect viewing angles with a pixel density of 423 ppi, and is the best screen we have ever seen on a smartphone."

S4 fits in my pocket just fine and I am not wearing cargoes around.

32 gb- fills up quick with photos, video taken and apps. I don't watch any movies on my phone.

I never actually had a problem running things.

I actually don't have a huge problem with IOS. I don't like how everything is more expensive Apple and you don't actually get something better for the extra cost especially from a spec standpoint. I also don't like that it is a closed system.

I think I will buy the NOTE 3 from Samsung when it comes out next week. Not buying the watch though--looks like ripoff. but that Note 3 is the GOAT of all phones, best ever, I have been told. They said it is so intelligent that it will replace your best friend as the best buddie.
