Hey Babolat Play playtesters, try checking your "spam" mail folder to see if Babolat emailed you anything. Found some mail regarding the playtest that was sent directly to spam instead of my inbox (don't know why).

Just a heads up!

Thanks. I had checked five times before but they had sent out the e-mail this morning. I should receive mine tomorrow.

Got it tonight and I'm so excited to try it out tomorrow. The PC program was easy to set up and sync to the racquet but have not tried with my phone since it says no build of the app is available yet. Thank you Babolat!

Recheck that, becuase there should be builds for android and iOS, I have the app already installed on my tablet. They sent me an email telling me that it was ready and available for download.

you should have received a second email to download the app from Test Flight. If the emails are not in your spam folder, please email babolatplay@babolat.com and we will get you the correct emails (assuming you have a compatible smart phone)

Congrats! Feel free to restring with your own set up (I recommend it, those were pre-strung in China), add weight, over grips, etc.

What kind of machines are used for the factory stringing?

I'm used to valuing precision and consistency over everything else, but a large-scale factory setup obviously prioritizes speed, so I'm interested in how the equipment reflects that.

I'm not sure on the specific machine. We normally don't pre-string our high end frames in China as we value precision and consistency (we invented tennis string and take pride in it). The results (and more so the time from when they were strung) mean that if you are sensitive to your stringing set up, do yourself a favor and have them strung to your specific preferences.

The thinking is the people who really care about string would have it strung to their liking (material, gauge) and fresh to their tension. The people who are not as particular about stringing would likely get the cheapest string at recommend tension...so we give them Xcel (a more premium string) at 55 lbs.

Hey Daniel.

I copied you on an email I sent to babolatplay.com just FYI. I can't save any data from my session today on my app and when I synced it via my PC, the data never showed up and the program says there is no data on my racquet now.

Just got mine tonight, UPS delivered it at 7pm. I'm in NorCal. Looks like someone peeled back the masking tape and took a peak inside before it got to me. Nothing missing though, thank goodness! All I have to say is Babolat, you guys are awsome! Great job Daniel in staying patient with the diverse crowd!

Daniel, I get what you mean about the stringing and such now. While I do love Xcel, the string was definitely not at 55lb (I would say somewhere around 45-50), and on top of that a couple of the crosses didnt have tension either. So I will def. be restringing, thanks for everything and all the updates you have shared with us.

I feel bad though, cutting out a set of fresh and expensive string.

Received the Pure Drive Play racquet tonight!

Here's the email I just sent to BabolatPlay@babolat.com:

Hello,

I just received the Pure Drive Play racquet today and in attempting to set it up, i have encountered a number of issues that I would like to report.

iPhone5: I was able to pair the racquet with my iPhone successfully via Bluetooth. However I was unable to successfully create an account. I was able to enter an email address and password. The next screen is where I enter my name, location, birthday, right/left hand player, etc. I was to fill in those fields. After i ticked the 3 check boxes (accept terms and conditions, receive updates, etc) and clicked next to create my account, the application would try to do so, but would not move to the next screen. I tried 4 times and nothing happened.

Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.1.2: I was unable to even pair the racquet with the Galaxy S3 via Bluetooth. I activated the Bluetooth on the racquet and scanned but nothing came up. I did the same with my iPhone previously and it had no issues locating and pairing so i'm positive it wasn't user error.

0-2 so far...not an auspicious start...

However, not one to give up easily, I proceeded to dig up the previous email from Babolat Play and found the link to download the BabolatPlay_widget.exe file for PC. The download and install went smoothly. After I launched the Babolat Connect application, I attempted to create an account. This time I was able to create an account successfully.

After creating my account, I went to my iPhone and was finally able to log in to with my credentials.

I'll be playtesting the racquet this weekend so if I encounter anymore issues, I'll be sure to report them.

Thank you

Just wondering...has anyone else encountered any of these same issues?

Using Android, I have a Note 8 tablet and a LG smartphone, I downloaded everything and my frame seems to sync just fine, I havent tried out the "Play" part of the racquet yet, but hope to get to it tomorrow and definitely check it out, will report my results by tomorrow night.

Had a hit today with the excel strings. in 45 degree weather. Im curious to see whether my spin results would change with poly strings, or if its based on swing speed. Also, does bouncing a ball before a serve, or bouncing it to pick up a ball count as a shot?

I just finished about an hour and a half as my first session on the frame, it seems like it works wells for now, although maybe I did something wrong or not. I should be able to tell when I do another session with it. But I did some warm-up then played a set with the racquet. Yet the frame only registered my match session and it did not register my warm-up. I hit the split session too, where the red light turns on and then starts to blink blue again slowly.

I find that weird, I will try it again and split the session, if I cant get it going, I will report back. It may just be my error, but IDK, I was checking the whole time and Play was on.

Also wanted to ask, every-time you sync the racquet, it downloads the session and removes it from the racquet correct? Because I just synced it with my phone, then when I plugged it into the computer, it said no session available for download.

Yes this is what happens. Each time you download you session(s) the racquet's memory is cleared.

I'm loving the racquet... strung with Pro Hurricane at 48 lbs yesterday. I think it does a pretty good job. The impact sensor seems remarkably accurate. It's a pity I suck at tennis:

It's remarkable how consistently high you hit in the bed. Very interesting product, I'm honestly very impressed with how well it breaks down data.

Yes I do. I paid attention to the feel and the racquet is right. The impact sensor is accurate...
