Which Match?

If you could choose one match that your favorite player(s) lost and have him win it, which would it be? You can mention multiple matches if you can't decide.

As a Federer fan, I would have to say RG Final 2004, 2006, or 2007. Although I would prefer 2006 or 2007 over 2004.

For Delpo I would say Wimbledon SF last year.

For Stan I think AO 4R last year.

McEnroe 1984 French Open final vs. Lendl.

But that's the turning point for Lendl, he might never have become the awesome Lendl of mid 80's otherwise. Plus then Mac would have a Grand Slam and imaging the crap on this site about a Grand Slam being worth 3x3GS, etc. It would be horrid.

murray...we don't have to question this but wimbledon 2012 he was really hurt. on the other hand, would he win again in 2013 after that? and would he win the olympic gold medal? and the us open?
no one knows.

in restrospectivly I think federer's loss at the ao in 09 didn't hamper his career at all.

Wimbledon 2008 for Federer.

AO 2005 for Hewitt.

Want to give Roddick a Wimbledon too.

FO 13 for Djokovic.

Rome 2006 to Fed. He lost after having MP's. Had he won that epic, I think the mental battle between the two would have been somewhat different, leading to victories elsewhere.

Others:
US Open-semi 2010-2011,
FO 2005-2007 and 2011
Wimbledon 2008, Aus 2009
AO-semi 2005 (but Safin was a favorite of mine as well, so didn't mind too much).

Not really 2005. 04,06, or 07 would have given him the calendar slam, and that would have been amazing.

He lost to Kuerten in the 3rd round in 04. To win the tourney he would have had to beat Kuerten and then take out Lopez, Nalbandian, Gaudio and Coria. Possible but definitely a tough ask. Interestingly, Almagro was serving for the match at 5-4 in the fifth against Guga in the first round. It was Nico's first GS. Who knows what would have happened if Nico had closed it out.

If Hewitt had got that Aus Open, I think he still regrets that match, the one thing he wanted most :/

Federer:

-Roland Garros 2006 Final: Would complete the sweep, and would make a total of 7 in a row! (SW19 2005-AO 2007)
-Wimbledon 2008: To win that epic, make it 7 straight Wimbledon titles

Dimitrov:
-AO 2014 QF w/ Rafa: it's too early for me to have a good one here, but he would have reached a major semi, and maybe gone on to play Wawrinka in a thrilling final!

Djokovic:
-RG 2012: Going for 4 in a row, against Rafa at the french... would have been amazing!
-USO 2007 Final: Maybe if Nole wins this match, he dominates the tour!

Nadal:
-SW19 2006 vs. Federer: If he wins this, imagine the mental advantage it would give him? He might win SW19 2007 and then also 2008!
-RG 2009 vs. Soderling: maybe he wins this match, and stays perfect at RG after all of these years :O

I see now. I wrote 2004 final as well even though he didn't make it that far. My mistake. 2006 or 2007 it is then.

Fed '09USO...would have been his fourth 3-slam year and given him the chance to win the wraparound Grand Slam in Melbourne, which he did win. Delpo's FH passes changed history quite a bit that night and they had to be peRFect to do it.
That match was so much more winnable than the AO final, even though the final set score was identical.

It was the beginning of a career full of choking for Almagro

Maybe Fed would have gotten nervous at AO 2010 and lost to Davydenko. You may never know.

Federer: 2008 W. Nothing else. That win would have given him 8 W titles, 7 of which would have been in a row. Had he won that match i think he would have won the 2009 AO as well.

Say all you want but nothing beats W 2008. That was the turnaround on their rivalry

Sounds typical of Almagro (sighs)
