Speaking of the Radical Agassi LE, I know Head was only going to make 5000 and ended up making many more, but did they make the original 5000, stop production, and then make the rest shortly after? Or did they make them all at one time. I ask because I just got #5014 (just missed the sub-5000s!) and would like to know if there is even the slightest chance of a difference between it and any Radical #5000 or below.

Oh, and why isn't Agassi's 1992 Wimbledon victory printed on the throat, too?

This is a topic for radicals, so pls. stay in theme, if you need to discuss something else, open another 3d, here we want to speak of swingweight strings and frames, and i expect to see that when i open the 3d.
And it would be nice like to see more photos of your radicals.

I'm back.

TheLambsheadrep: An initial announcement said Head made 5000 for the US market. Apparently another announcement was that there would be 9000 worldwide. There is a hypothesis that this meant 5k for the USA + 9k for the rest of the world. But no one knows for sure. (http://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/showthread.php?t=108976). This irked the people who bought this because they thought it would be rare. But its no problem for people like me who really play with the racquet. The more there are floating around the world, the better for me if I need replacements.

It's also been said in another thread that Agassi's Wimbledon championship happened before he endorsed Head. Hence it was not included on the racquet.

For what it's worth, my two 5000+ Radicals play just as well as my two sub-5000s, so don't love your racquet any less! ;)

And as makinao mentioned, Agassi wasn't sponsored by Head when he won Wimbledon. He was with Donnay then.

^ I've never checked the balance on them, but I did weigh them on a postal scale about a year ago, and strung up with rubber band dampeners and overgrips, three weighed in at 12oz even, and the fourth came in at 12.1 (which could have been due to a thicker gauge string, since they all had different strings at the time).

Mine came to 350.9 grams (almost 12.4oz) with strings, worm dampener, head guard tape, and overgrip. I still need to get it to at least 12.6oz. Also, it has a 330mm balance and 356SW. I was hitting with it yesterday and it felt pretty nice. It has Head Sonic Pro 17g which is much much softer than I like, and it was a little "pingy" even with the worm dampener on. I'm hoping that's just from the string

Busted out the Ti.Rad OS sticks the other day expecting a rain session (warriors too light for wet balls), but it stayed dry. Was reminded of the surprising stability/flex/feel combo of these beasts when playing against an ex-ATP guy who occasionally shows up to play.

Though well off his former form, this guy can murder a flat ball when he has time to set up. He decided to attack me at net (usually a good play) during one game of dubs, but the Rads saved me three times. Just kept it in front with knees bent and it absorbed and returned each ball like a champ. The guy even shook his head and held his arms out like "Come on!"

SO glad I stocked up on these beasts (have six, with my favorite coming from the excellent Doyle Overman here on TT). Haven't tried the MG or Youtek OS frames, but hard to imagine they could be better.

i just tried out a IG radical S and it's such an easy frame to play with! loved the easy power. i think its a must demo for most players, since we are not really 4.5s or higher

Are the Ti. and MG MP similar? The specs are almost the same, except stiffness. If I borrow a friend's Ti. Rad, will it give me a good glimpse on how the Microgel plays, swings etc? I used to play with a FXP, but the sw was higher and it was a bit sluggish. I'm hoping the mg is easier to swing (I'm planning on extending to 28")

I love using my heavily leaded Youtek Rad Pro's! I haven't seen a lot of love for them on the boards though...

I tried one and the SW is just too high even though I did like the 16x19 string pattern and it didn't feel as solid as the PSTGT. I am now testing out the TGK 260.2 and find that to be more substantial and solid.

The IG Radical S is probably the best frame among all the light ones out there. It's the most solid one in it's class and not many people know about this racquet.

I can give you a comparison in a week or so. I've been hitting the MG MP for a couple of months. Left one stock and put CAP grommets on the other with some lead. Just got two mint Ti MPs yesterday and will be hitting them soon. I'll let you know what my thoughts are comparison-wise.

Looking at my two new Ti MPs I cannot tell if the buttcap logo is removable to access the inside? I'm looking to add some temporary weight. I know I can try that with leather, but hoping I can just insert into the handle. Anyone know if the inside is accessible without removing the entire buttcap?

Also, I anyone has any suggested mods for the Ti MP, I'm open.

Thanks.

Just started customizing my IG Rad Pro...gonna hit with it tonight. I've got 10 grams at 3&9 and additional 25 grams in the handle. Got it to 5 points headlight and silicon in the handle. Swapped out the pallets for **** Wilson shape pallets. Gonna be sweet!

Among my collection is a Radical Trysis 260, a Zebra TT, two 1998 TT ( one CAPped), a Ti., two i.Rads, and a brand new Microgel, all MP's. Anyone have a setup suggestion for the Microgel? Had an IG Rad Pro, but sold it.

The buttcap logo is just a sticker on Ti.Rads (that tend to get loose and fall).
Unfortunately you need to remove the buttcap if you want to add weight inside the handle. Easier is to add leap tapes (on the pallets and under the grip).

Never heard of the 1998 Radical TwinTube being 307g. Should be around 330g. Can post a photo if the racquet in question?

Agree. Extremely underated along with the Rad OS. The Rad S can be leaded up any way you like and makes a great platform racquet. You could customize it to be an easier swinging Rad Pro.

Sure will post a picture of the racquet in question, also VS do you think there is a way to match a cut down zebra XL to the regular zebra? I cut a couple down and they are way lighter than my standard zebras

thanks in advance

I'm curious, where have you put the lead on your igrp's? I recently made the switch and am trying new setups. Right now I've got 4g at 12 and 12g in the handle, but it doesn't feel quite right.

I'm really interested to hear how you successfully capped them with the mg. pp. I tried and wasn't able to get grommet 5 on the throat through far enough.

aww grommet #5 is a tough one what I did was start from the top of the racquet and work the way down to the throat. when I got to 5 and 6 they were a pain but I used an awl and pushed them in, they didnt end up much shorter than the standard grommets. so on my stick the static weight strung is 355g (wilson OG, + dampener + strings (gut)) you would probably be at around 345-347 with a full bed of poly.
my strung balance is 6 pts
i added 6 grams of (blue tack or Tungsten putty) under the butt cap the putty is easier to work with imo
and lead tape around the hoop from 8 to 4 (it is alot of weight but it is a ball crusher much more so than the old radicals imho)

i got the candy cane from psp in June/July I have changed the grips and butt caps to Ig butt caps and head hydrosorb pro grips for all the racquets

just a tidbit about the candy cane as well i received it with no silicone and cotton in the handle that I removed and i checked all my other racquets they are bare

eh now i am stuck on what to do with it, if i add weight to match it up and it feels even better than the stock then i have a dilemma lol

hey VS now that I look at my canes specs and think about it, would its weight with caps be pretty similar to the vamp tour 630 with caps?

Any recommendations on how much silicon to add to the handle and how to lead the hoop of MG MP, I want it heavier and with more plowthroug, more like a Prestige or a wilson blade 98 or more. Thanks!

Nice and flexy and very very solid! As good as they come if you ask me.....

Almost was ready to give up on Rad's (tried Original OS Bumble Bee...cool, but to much room for errors on OS for me, YT are light, stiff, toys, LM is "tinny") then I found the Zebra!!!! Putty in my hands, awesome...I'm in!!!!!

Curious about Ti and I..are they as good. I like a Radical that strings up to 12-12.4 with a rubber band and overgrip, and remains head light. The TT flex is awesome, but I'm fine with a little stiffer...so how do the others compare?

I strayed but now I am back, help me choose...

I cheated on my Radicals for @ 6 months then came to my senses...however I stupidly sold and gave away my last four, 2 LM MP's and 2 LM OS's . I was able to retrieve one MP, but am thinking of "upgrading". Choices are down to MG Radical MP or OS, Youtek Radical IG MP, OS, or S.....Leaning towards one of the MG's...Would greatly appreciate your experiences, opinions and suggestions...

Thanks,

Here I go again. Someone in my city is selling a twin tube OS for about US$30,

20141128081540-olxb9c325dca6ee956b688329726089114ce9289680.jpg

and a radical tour mid for US$22 which the seller says is 285grms. Does this look like an mid? Isn't it too light?

All my racquets now are OSs, And I want to spring for the twin tube. But that Radical Tour is tempting if its the real thing.

Makinao and Skunk, do you use your LE's on a somewhat regular basis? I've sorta hid mine away for years, not wanting to chip it. But when I think about the fact that I'll never want to sell it either, I want to go ahead and get it out.

B Cubed: Yes I use my LEs regularly. They are the real deal and I really love playing with them. There was a lot of discussion about how "limited" they really were. The serial numbers of mine are in the 10k range, so I doubt they are that rare. I therefore get more satisfaction out of using them than waiting for their value to appreciate.

I always carry a couple of 4-stripe POG OSs together with a couple of LEs in my bag. My choice for a playing day depends on my mood. If I want to play a controlled game I use the POGs. If I want to bash I bring out the LEs. But if I'm anticipating an afternoon of fun social doubles, I bring my beat up 1-stripe POG OS.

I took out my Youtek IG Radical MP yesterday and really enjoyed hitting with it again. I think I if I put a Wilson Shock Shield grip and a little lead at 3 & 9, I could use this racquet for doubles. Also, put in Cyclone Tour 17 for some added pop and spin.
