No, that frame is cool. The even better version is the one after. I believe Roz got that one. Same specs as the GPMP. Loved how it felt.

I remember you had a fling with that one, but what makes the first version so special is the ultra thin beam, 18mm. It's so thin it actually whistles when you swing it, it's a pretty amazing sound.

Actually I had a fling the MP version but I was going through strings at warp speed. I should have gotten the 18x20 because that frame is awesome, in fact I still think about getting one since it is the exact same specs as the Prestige, but it's a 100, which could be sweet.

yup, an optimal frame for my game.
no complaints whatsoever.

Have you tried gut poly in it yet? That would be amazing. I know it is in the Prestige.

never used real gut before. but i did notice your setup and it sounds sublime.

i might try it once but i have 2 issues:

-will hate to get a wrong tension and experiment once i put gut.

-i have some moral issues with using real gut.. prefer to avoid it if possible.
(i have an issue with eating meat, but in that department i'm still too weak).

Well you are quite the sensitive soul..Haha.I don't want to corrupt you, but this is what I'd do:

Babolat Tonic 1.35 at 58#s, a round poly like Genesis Black Magic in 17 gauge at 51#s.

The tension will be fine, I wouldn't sweat that too much. I strung my Pro staff in the low 40s and it still is controllable.

not THAT sensitive if i eat meat almost regularly..

but thanks for these options. i use a slick Black Zone Cross anyway, so i might try putting gut mains just to try.
a presume it also lasts much longer than a regular poly setup (12hrs) ?

Yes it lasts forever for me. 1.35 Tonic plus is the way to go.

Bros, yesterday I demoed a friends ytk speed pro, the 2009 version, and I think I'm in love.

It's such an odd stick, super thin, 18 mm beam, but stiff and crispy, and the entire string bed felt like a sweet spot. As soon as I picked it up I started playing some boss tennis.

Anyone have any experience with this little gem, I'm thinking of hunting an old beater down for fun.

YES!!!

I had demo'd it when it first came out back then, liked it so much, demo'd it again, back to back.

Very KPS88'sh, super, super solid. Felt heavier and swung heavier than the specs mentioned. I think I actually went for a customized Prince Exo-Graph93 frame over that one at the time, but really liked the Speed Pro.

Too bad the newer iteration wasn't available in the US, was it in Canada? Must have been 2011 or 2012 when they re-introduced it, don't know if Head makes anything close to that anymore.

Finally got to play last night after a long, unintended break from the courts.

Super sold on low-tension polys in the ezone- xi98 (or any other frame). For players who have an innate ability to add touch on the ball and have those 'feely' hands at net, don't be afraid of stringing your frame at 20-30lbs, full poly.

You lose some of your ability to control the ball but as mentioned, if you already have a keen ability to slice, lob, drop,.. what you get in return is a 6th (maybe even 7th) gear of spin and power available at will.

Sure, it's full poly, but at these tensions it is uber-comfortable, massive pocketing. Yes, you'll have to restring, but not as often as stringing poly at higher tensions.

The more and more that I play with the ezone98, the more I am reminded of a comment I read about it being a 'comfortable APD' and it's true. It's deader than the APD, flexes more, yet is more sensitive and 'touchy'. Really don't see myself being swayed from this frame for a while... or at least until the Ai98 gets a 50% price drop.

Well gents! It has been an honor posting and talking tennis with y'all over the past half a decade. For now, the dream comes to an end.

After months of continuous rehab, tennis is on the shelf for the foreseeable future. I haven't hit in almost a month, and the injury still is there. As per doctors recommendation, we are shutting the doors on this dream. I'm blowing out frames at below cost in the for sale section if anyone wants a holic discount. Y'all have been great, and I hope to be able to come back one day, but it looks as though tennis is not in the stars for me. Good luck everyone, I hope you live up to TT glory and avoid touching the face of god.

After testing so many frames I came to a conclusion that I prefer muted and soft frames and in the range of 330gr strung in order to have decent plow through. Stiff frames like my favorite APD have more feel and it's easier to go for winners. But in the end of the day it's all about health. I play 6 to 7 hours each weak.... Prince tour 100 and ai98 have saved my arm. Now that I am getting used to their muted feeling on contact I prefer them more. Despite their open pattern they have tons of control like 18x20 frames and I love their spin friendliness which is so sweat. The only problem I had was to get dialed on serves and to adjust my game that now I cannot go for winners with the same ease. I am enjoying those 2 frames that give me almost zero vibrations on my arm. I also believe that those kind of players rackets (that don't give easy access to free power) will improve my technique in the long run.

Thanks mate! Yeah. It's been frustrating for the past year. Results suffered greatly and I haven't played at a decent level for a long time now. All the signs were there for a while just didn't want to believe it, you know? Thanks though bud! You too.

fuji, it definitely sucks when your body betrays you. good luck.

well, i've made the trip to london specifically to locate our long lost leader, RossK. for the past 2 weeks searching all over the place (well maybe all over the place is a bit of an exaggeration, but i've been hanging out at Regent's Park Tennis Center), and so far i've come up empty. i'll be heading over to the Chelmsford Square tennis courts tomorrow to see if i can find him and maybe even get in some hitting of my own. wish me luck. :)

maybe later this next week, Gads will join me in my search to find RossK. ;)

Tennis in Canada just suffered a huge blow. Focus on your recovery buddy, tennis is but a small part of life, your health is way more important.

All I can say is things change.............. keep a couple of racquets :)

Fuji - so sorry for your misfortune. I pray that things will change allowing you back on the court sooner or later. Preferably sooner. If not, hopefully you'll find something you enjoy just as much as tennis to invest yourself in. And, I hope you will stop by and check in from time to time as I always enjoyed your posts. Good luck with the future, whatever it holds for you.

Yesterday. Once onto the grounds, I got a resale ticket into Centre Court for 10 pounds. (people on their way out can donate their centre court seats for a resale line, proceeds go to charity)

Saw the last four sets of Rafa-Brown. It was the best sporting event experience of my life. The court is pure magic. The energy, the beauty of it, and the history and ghosts of the long past. All of it is just overwhelming. I found myself just sitting there, looking around and shaking my head so often in awe. Not to mention such a fantastic upset to be witness to. Huge check on the bucket list.

unfortunately there was no RossK sightings in the 3+ hours I spent at Chelmsford Square today. however, i did meet zuzanna stelmaszak who currently plays for Duquesne University.

and regarding RossK, i plan to continue the search at Wimbledon later this week.

He popped up on our private FB page the other day out of the blue. May be making a comeback. Don't think he has been playing much in the last two years for various reasons.

Had a hit against the wall and filmed some of it, as I have tweaked my backhand and wanted to take a look. It definitely is looking a lot cleaner to me. My take back is a lot better. Only thing I notice is I go from straight back sometimes and high and straight the other. High and straight is optimal, so I just need to dial that feeling in.

I really want to ramp up the aggression a hair next USTA season as I won most of my sets and games when I did that. It's a fine line though. I think I am going to take a set of lessons again to dial it in, but I really didn't use my weapons well enough last season. I was a little too tentative against guys I should be attacking.

^Tell me about it. Had a 3-5 record last season, same reasons as what you describe. Not aggressive enough when I should be and not knowing which shots to play high percentage.

Good news is we're in good company.
