Ernie still on target to meet his goal of winning no more than 1 match per tournament this season! :)

Hope he doesn't go and spoil it at Wimbledon.

The non-streak streak continues...still one in a row since that fateful loss in Moscow to the Spoiled Princess now eight months ago.
breathe deeply, feel the good vibes... be po--si--ti--ve ! :)
let's put it this way: it's a streak of 3 straight tournaments where he won a match.
yes, yes, yes ! you're about to say it: a newfound consistency, prefiguring lots of imminent slam titles. ;)

who's that guy he lost to, by the way ?...

Ernie must dig deep to improve his poor season...

Thanks for spoiling my dream date and supper.

And he has a good chance if he remains earnest to get a two-match winning streak after qualifier PHM upset Chardy. And in Sweden, where he has so many distractions to deal with!

Let's not get ahead of ourselves... 2nd round is already a good result for 2015 Gulbis

I think PHM will be a good test. He used to be a solid player. The fact that he qualified and upset Chardy probably means he's in form.

Still a fan of the gull, best looking forehand on tour when Delpo is injured

Well, Ernests loves the Swedish ladies, and as he says, he doesn't ask them about their professions.

It would be nice to see him get more than one win in a row before he falls out of the top 100. Who is coaching him at the moment?

Ernests looks like he's well on his way to making it onto the Futures circuit.

Someone needs to stage an intervention and get him to take some time to rebuild his forehand and start playing serious tennis again.

What is Gulbis going to do now?

Does he have a chance of qualifying for the US Open? Can he get into any of the US Open series tournaments without playing qualifying?

Gulbis will still be ranked within top 100 in the 52 week rankings, so that guarantees him a place in USO. But he's 125 on the 2015 Race, so he'll not get a direct place to AO if the Earnest losses keep on coming!

Just 5 wins in 2015.

Luck of the draw...he gets to face The Dominator in 1R. While the death spiral officially started when he lost to the Spoiled Princess in Russia last fall, the early exit at USO'14 to Dominic was an earlier sign of the troubles to come.

I was at the Mahut-Gulbis match in yesterday. I saw the end of the first and and the full second set. Although Ernests pretty much threw the first set tiebreak away by being an imbecile, Mahut was being pretty clutch, with very few mistakes from the back of the court.

I also thought he was throwing the second set away at some point, but managed to string a couple decent points together to break late in the set. I kind of understand why he gets frustrated, as he can hit amazing effortless winners and then shank 4 hits in a row. Then he hits another winner, and he's fuming because he doesn't know why he couldn't hit that same shot two points ago when it was so easy, yet people don't understand why he's still not happy. He's just a bit misunderstood, but I feel his pain.

I got your back Ernie.

I missed the third, but my wife stayed and said after getting the early break, he tanked a couple return games. Considering he's been in Montreal for a few days and Thiem probably didn't get in before Saturday, this as good of a chance as he will get to beat his young buddy.

The rain may give Dominic another day to recover and head indoors for some HC practice. The rain may give The Ernests more time to find the best Montreal has to offer in off-court activities. Bad combo!
I can already imagine him walking down St-Laurent between Ste-Catherine and René-Lévesque, shish taouk sandwich in hand. Resist Ernie, resist the temptation.

Unless the courts have changed recently, the indoor courts at the tennis center are vastly faster than the outdoor ones. As such, I think Thiem would still be at a disadvantage court-wise.
