Oh, there were so many. I enjoyed Catherine Hepburn movies like "Philadelphia Story and Little Women". Judy Garland, "Babes In Arms", "Meet Me in St Louis" and "A Star Is Born".

I loved "St Louis" too, and i have "A Star is Born" lined up. I saw it as a kid. Saw Philadephia Story last year, Cary Grant, right ? Must check out "Babes in Arms".

I was very upset that you were banned. Could not figure out why. I don't always agree with your opinion, but I very much admire your honesty and willingness to go up against the "young people".

I'm very glad you are back. Don't know what happened. Going through medical tests myself, and waiting for results.

Keep posting. We need people like you, not just in this forum but elsewhere...

The only two men I ever liked watching who had backcourt games were Borg and Nadal. I think I am emotionally tied into Nadal's fighting spirit. I'm also for the underdog, and I suspect that he may have a hard life ahead of him. The OCD thing can't mean a happy person, and he has been so dominated by his uncle and his family.

I look at Fed as a magnificent talent, but he seems a very entitled young man who has always had life go right for him. I enjoy watching him play but do not like him so well.

I always look for your posts in the forum. I don't necessarily agree with all of them (but with some I do), but I like your spunk, and I enjoy seeing you give some of the young whipper-snappers more than they can handle! ;)

AngieB, watching these people already become old in tennis, when otherwise they are yet so young, is a bit painful. The youngsters talk about Grandpa Federer as if he is an old man, with gray hair, losing his memory, barely able to walk. But my kids are about to turn 36 and 37, and my grandkids are almost 8, 10 and 12.

I try to take emotion out of it and simply enjoy the great players. Serena can never be my favorite, not because I dislike her in any way (I admire her greatly) but because I yearn for kind of tennis you and I remember. I loved watching Evert in the beginning because her strokes were so basic and so easy to understand, and as only an average player myself I learned more from watching the women. Before her BJK was my absolute favorite, then for playing style Martina. Graf less so because she was more of a backcourt player in an era where she has no one to compete with the big game.

I see you are picking Nadal in the poll over Novak in 5 sets! Well, we will know in 24 hours. I like Novak, as a person, but I just can't get excited about his tennis. If there are not a couple other men around to stop him men's tennis is going to be awfully boring for some time in the future.

All I need is one Sugarpova win over Serena, angieb. I'll light up the message boards like it's the 4th of July. Doesn't have to be the French... could be the H&S Greenstamps Open. She needs a big win (slam final) over Serena to get to that next tier of all-time greats. She's got some momentum after winning Rome. Not that big on draws, haven't seen the draw yet, so I'm assuming she's opposite Serena, which is good for her.

Hi Angie. I got your "friend" request and am simply verifying that you have been "accepted"!!" TT is a very odd place. I have virtually no free time, but I joined years ago, put up a few posts, then forgot my password. I have read many posts, however. I enjoy trying to figure out how people can be so dogmatic. Also, the forms of reasoning used are rather odd. Blah blah blah. I appreciate your kind words about the struggle we are in (but everyone is dealing with some disaster, no?). If you ever have an interest in seeing some semi-wild machines, you can visit my facebook site https://www.facebook.com/peter.tennenbaum (it is open to the public -- but only "friends" are allowed to post. I am good friends with the former hitting partner of Serena and Venus, when they were #1 and #2 in the world. Big deal... although we made a high-def movie about mini-tennis. IN any case, have a wondrous day, etc.
