I have been playing with Polyester strings since the day Luxilon released their first poly's string and since then tried many different brands.

Currently playing with Head Graphene Prestige Midplus racquet
String tension: 42 LBS.
Strings I've played with in the past 6-8 months:
mains: Signum Pro Firestorm 1.25 x crosses: Volkl VStar 17g
mains: Signum Pro Firestorm 1.25 x crosses: ISOSPEED Pulse 1.20
mains: Signum Pro Firestorm 1.25 x crosses: Weiss Cannon SilverString 17G
mains: GENESIS Typhoon 16L x crosses: Signum Pro Firestorm 1.25
mains: Signum Pro Firestorm 1.25 x crosses: GENESIS Typhoon 16L
mains: Signum Pro Firestorm 1.25 x crosses: Head Hawk 17G
mains: Signum Pro Firestorm 1.25 x crosses: Volkl V-Pro 17g
mains: Signum Pro Firestorm 1.25 x crosses: Volkl Tennis Cyclone 17G
mains: Signum Pro Firestorm 1.25 x crosses: Head Sonic Pro Edge 16G
mains: Signum Pro Firestorm 1.25 x crosses: Polyfibre Viper 1.25
My favorite combination is:
mains: Signum Pro Firestorm 1.25 x crosses: Polyfibre Viper 1.25
The combination of soft feel, power, and control is simply excellent...
I highly recommend this combo for your own test.

How does the firestorm play like? can you compare to a similar string? how is the tension maintenance and spin potential?

I play with almost identical setup to the OP (Prestige MP and Firestorm 1.25 at 42 lbs) and find the string quite soft. The string holds tension very well, basically til it starts to notch really badly just before it breaks. People tend to mention it as similar to the Topspin Cyber flash, which is similar to Alu Power. The firestorm does not play supersimilar to the Alu Power, I think it's slightly softer but otherwise the same type of string.

Basically it doesn't do anything superwell but nothing bad either. It's best property is probably it's tension maintenance.

Thanks for the reply Cerps, If would you know why you would choose Firestorm over SPPP? I mean if tension maintenance is the best property then SPPP should be better right?

The orange wouldn't fit in my Prestige ;)

Has anyone tried the Thunderstorm as a main instead? Supposedly it's the shaped brother of Firestorm so, in theory at least, should be a spinnier main.

I have hit with a friends racquet strung with full Thunderstorm at 52lbs, initial impressions are it has great ball bite thanks to the decagon shape, great access to spin, it was very lively and crisp, has a bit of metallic ping to it. personally it was too powerful for me, maybe at higher tension I would like it.

Oh, thanks, looks like what I'm looking for - power and spin. If it also made one rich it'd be my future string choice! ;)

But seriously, thanks... I have to try it.

I've heard that it is slightly stiffer though i have never tried it myself?

I haven't found a massive amount of players here on this forum using either so I'll expect it to be hard for you to found someone else that have hybrid them?

Care to describe why it is such an excellent combo? Interested in what does the Firestorm contribute to the stringbed in this combo

Cerps,

All I'm saying is, that this combination gives me excellent feel, control, and power.
Other may feel different.
One will not know, until one tries...
