    Wilson will shut down Vortex

Why should standards not change? We're not talking dimensions of the court but advancements in equipment technology used to play said sports. Every sport has seen some technological advancement, no matter how small, and will continue to do so as companies push out their latest and greatest 'new'...

    Wilson will shut down Vortex

Sounds to me like you want the 'standard' from your generation to last forever. This is 2012, not 1980. You're also using a graphite racket with an open pattern in contradiction with your argument. Everyone generates spin with technique, regardless of how slow or poor that form maybe. If you...

    Wilson will shut down Vortex

A 16 x 15 pattern is nothing like a spaghetti string setup; I'm not sure how you came to that conclusion. The less crosses the less friction, allowing the mains to move more freely. That's it, nothing too exciting or radical about that. If you've ever used a Wilson 95 16 x 18, you will know...

    Wilson will shut down Vortex

I would hope that is tongue-in-cheek. There is nothing new about fewer crosses allowing the mains to move more freely (at the expense of some control, typically). I can imagine the only R&D Wilson spent on this was down the coffee shop thinking up the next gimmick.

    Angell Sport!

Strung, estimated. For that spec, it was estimated 330SW strung, so I would guess 300SW unstrung. I requested a slightly higher SW (+5).

    Angell Sport!

Couple of the following ordered: TC95 63 RA (60/61 RA strung) 330G 10pts HL unstrung (6pts strung I would think) 27" B grip (Dunlop) 335 SW Looking forward to giving them a hit. I'll need to bump the SW up a touch with some lead at 12 but other than that, the spec looks great.

Tight string pattern matching spin potential?

That LM Prestige Mid is more flexible and with a high swing weight than either of the other two frames mentioned - both of which contribute to spin potential. You also need to take into account the chap would be used to the Prestige and likely his timing is better than a couple of random...

    New Dunlop line???

I can only hope the previous 16 x 18, 333g 200 tours will be under a new name or an option within a 200 Tour range. The 4D/Bio 200 Tours were great sticks and one of only a few lines available that came close to pro specs and worthwhile playing in stock form.

looking for racquet similar to Dunlop Biomimetic 200 Tour

The K95 (69RA) is a lot stiffer than the Bio (61 RA). The only way I can think of that being mixed up is if you used a full bed of nat-gut in the K95 and a stiff poly in the Bio. Anyways, The Bio 200T is one of the better rackets and not a lot else plays like it in stock form. Given that you...

    What's wrong with Yonex?

I agree with some of what you've said here. - The thin grip: It's not really that hard to get off but my gripe with it is for another reason. Yonex use a very thin stock grip as you noted, and while the majority of their player frames come in around 8pts HL with that grip, the problem then...

The true difference between any 2 rackets (vs. hype/placebo)

What you've said is just dribble with some random points unrelated to your topic. If you believe there is little discernible difference between any two rackets, then well, you better add a few more to your demo list. Some variables: stiffness head size head shape string pattern string...

Yonex Vcore Tour 89 and 97 specs

Well, the shape of the handle, even if it measures the same, can give the impression of a much smaller or larger grip. The actual size feels more or less the same as Wilson but Yonex sticks a very thin stock grip over the handle which gives the impression that it's smaller.

Yonex Vcore Tour 89 and 97 specs

I own the 97 (330g) and have also hit with the 89. The 89 felt more powerful (higher SW), a bit softer and with a larger sweet spot relative to the head size. The 89 is a nice racket indeed and plays far better in stock form. The issue, as far as I see it with the 97, is it's slightly...

Dunlop AG 4D 200 Tour - Racquet similar but more Power?

The Wilson 95 series, as darklore009 suggested, is probably your best bet. The BLX 6.1 95 would be the closest match as it's softer than the K version. In all cases, the Wilson 95's (16 x 18 ) play like a lively (and stiffer) version of the Dunlop 200 Tour series - if you like that kind of thing.

    Yonex Vcore Tour 97 review

The cross is a syn gut and typically these would be strung a few pounds higher than a poly main. The softer string in hybrids are usually 1-5 lbs higher than the stiffer string, whether that would be in the crosses or mains. Doing the reverse of that feels a bit weird. After the WC...

    Yonex Vcore Tour 97 review

With 20 crosses, it would be wise to string low. For example, I typically string my Dunlop at 52/54 (16 x 18 ) and did the same with the Yonex which made the string bed way too stiff. I also tried Silverstring/OGSM today at 51/53 and nearly killed my shoulder and had some numbness in my fingers...

    Yonex Vcore Tour 97 review

It's far from sluggish, even with 4g of lead at 12. The rather extreme HL balance and low SW in stock form gave the impression of a much lighter racket than the static weight suggested, but I personally found that set up almost unusable and reminiscent of the PB10 Mid in stock form. Some...

    Yonex Vcore Tour 97 review

For anyone interested, I've put together a little review of the Yonex Vcore Tour 97. Firstly, the unstrung specs: 333g 11 pts HL 294 SW The Yonex stock grip is very thin and weighs virtually nothing. Replacing that with a Pacific Classic and adding a Super Grap OG brought the static weight up...

Exo3 Tour 18x20 but heavier? Demo Suggestions

The Bio 200 Tour is a nice all-round racket and particularly good from the baseline. Don't be scared of the SW or balance, they swing easy and you'd get used to the weight fairly quickly. To echo the above as well, the Yonex Vcore Tour 97 (330g unstrung) is also worth a look. Static weight is...

    Wilson Racquets

Um, give the chap a break. He could well be 5.5 and not have a clue about rackets. He's 14, what does he really care all that much, and one of the worst things you can do is over scrutinise your setup. I would also imagine the 'crappy 2handed back hand' comment was relative to the rest of his...

If they push Wimbledon back a week...

Putting the GS back a week or even a month, is not going to favour a defensive style, simply as the grass would not be worn? Why would you think it would be...

Anyone played with both Dunlop 200 Tour and Wilson 90's?

I use the Bio 200 Tour as my main and have also used the BLX90 off and on for a couple of years. Both great rackets and comparing the two, the 90 is a little more precise and the 200 Tour a little more forgiving (off the baseline), would be the main things that stand out. Rating them in stock...

Dunlop: Bio replacements on the way?

Pretty much, yep. It does swing easy but you definitely feel the higher SW in comparison to say a K95/BLX95, which feel 'light' coming off a 200 Tour.

Dunlop: Bio replacements on the way?

It seems low but note cust reviews are likely coming off sales from last year (3 in 2012). I'd be one of the three too.

Dunlop: Bio replacements on the way?

It is indeed a great line of frames. According to TW, they've only sold three Bio 200 Tours this year, which just goes to show how far the stick is out of reach (or perception of) for the average punter. It's a niche frame and I'd not be surprised if Dunlop do a Wilson (95's) and reduce the...

Dunlop: Bio replacements on the way?

'More Hollow' than the Bio and not the kind of extreme you're thinking of there. The sound produced by the composition of racket is probably in my mind contributing to what appears as the more hollow feeling compared with the Bio. The 4D definitely felt less solid in certain areas of the...

Dunlop: Bio replacements on the way?

This one: http://www.tennis-warehouse.com/Prince_EXO3_Tour_100_18X20/descpageRCPRINCE-PEX320.html After you've ordered, drop info@ a mail requesting the mrt service and state how you'd like the rqts matched. It costs an extra $10 but well worth it.
