gut mains/ poly or synthetic gut crosses?

I hear you about slow dying poly. I really like the original Pacific Polyforce 17 poly. It is stiff, so can be strung low 50's as a cross. It holds tension a very long time and does not chew through gut or multi. A popular string ranking site has posters that conducted tension tests on Poly...

Exact same experience as you. AG100's are on the shelf. I could never use poly on the mains but I can with the PB10mid. Love it....

    done with Head Rip Control

I have used Intellitour 17 (used to be my ref string) and Rip Control 17 (used on and off over the years). As a direct comparison of these two strings, I prefer the RIP Control. Better tension maintenence is the reason. Feel/comfort are almost identical, and RIP Control is cheaper. I have...

    Kgut?

Hello - I noticed recently that KGut dropped to 17.95, then has gone from TW all together. Has this string been dropped by Wilson?

    Favorite String Setup Poll

I voted for gut mains poly crosses. But I am starting to see the benefit of full poly at lower tensions 45-52 lbs. Obviously feel is the tradeoff, but I can rip winners from almost anywhere with full poly. It is addictive....

If I use full RIP control 17 in my AG100, I get 10 hours tops. KGut 16 mains with SPPP or pacific Poly Force crosses (17G), I get 18+ hours. I usually cut out this setup before it breaks.

    Head Rip Control 16 tensions?

I have a couple of BLX 90's strung with RIP 17 at 55LBS. Doesnt feel stiff or boardy for me...

Low, low tensions. 30lbs feels great. 20lbs pretty good, too

I felt compelled to try some low tension poly in one of my AG100's. I usually use Pacific Poly Force Original as a cross with Kgut or Gut mains. I tried a set of full Poly Force 17 at 42 lbs on the main and 40 on the cross. Spin was crazy, and comfort is really good considering the PFO is...

    Head Rip Control

Coloskier. I also use RIP Control 17. I buy reels of it from racketguy. (but buy all my frames and shoes from Tenniswarehouse :) )

Why do all pros use a leather grip under their overgrip?

I use leather grips because (for me) they improve bevel articulation, and they are generally more consistent than synthetic grips (which can bottom out).

    Magic of Gut/Lux

I like Pacific Poly Force 17 Original as a cross. It is super stiff, but strung at low to mid 50's as a cross it is super comfortable w little string movement. Its tension and playability far exceeds ALU power over the long run (8+ hours).

What really annoys me about Andy Murray

Cheering on opponents errors is just wrong. His post match quotes can be pretty stupid at times as well. Wish there was more offense from him and less push.... Really hope that Fed and Andy meet again.

    Pacific Multi's

I love Poly Force as a cross with Kgut. Got 24 hours out of this setup before the kgut mains broke. Currently at 12 hours on second job with no movement or fraying. Love the PFO as a cross, its great.

    ***Dunlop Aerogel 1hundred (AG100) club***

Agree w/Kgut in this frame. Kgut is expensive, but love the lack of string movement with poly cross (pacific poly force). I broke the mains on my last string job at 24 hours on court. Kgut 16 at 57lbs, poly force 17 at 55lbs. Love this setup with leather grip....

Anything like XOne without the break in period?

Kgut plays nice from the start and is durable with very little string movement. It costs more yes, but I love it. You can get more feedback here: http://www.racquetsportsindustry.com/articles/2008/03/wilson_k_gut_16.html I use it as my mains with Poly Force original 17 crosses at 57/55lbs...
