Is Roddick the 2nd best clay courter today?

You guys know Roddick is really left handed right? He just wants to give everyone else a chance.

Worst tennis commentator by FAR: Bill McAtee

I think he is a neutral commentator. The stuff he says isn't exactly enlightening but he's more giving a running commentary on the match. Justin G. makes me want to shoot myself. I heard him commentating today and he literally just repeated whatever Navratilova said. It's just annoying.

    Roddick vs. Rehnquist

I've actually seen Rehnquist play live (Dallas). He shanked a ball so hard on his serve that it flew across the court into the top stands and pegged me in the foot :) He has a gorgeous backhand though.

    D1 College in the South?

Arkansas is a GREAT school. I live in Texas but all my family grew up there. The school is quickly rising in rank (overall) due to all the money contributed by Wal-Mart. I'm on a restricted computer (somehow let's me on here?) but I'm pretty sure the University of Texas at Arlington has a...

    Best current volleyer on tour?

I actually love this discussion. The problem with comparing doubles and singles players is that people are now bringing in opponent's passing shots etc into the matter. That wasn't part of the question. The question simply asked for the best volleyers. Not who gets the most balls, who has the...

    Hitting partner in Dallas/Ft Worth?

Hey guys. I live in North Arlington. I'm a 4.5 with 5.0 volleys(I'm training to be an assistant coach right now so I'm around a lot of certified pros who agree on it). I'm currently in the process of changing my strokes but I can definitely still play.

Brad Gilbert: The worst announcer ever?

Best team ever would be J-Mac and Agassi. Personally, I think McEnroe is THE best commentator and, I mean, who doesnt love Andre?

Older man that I respect as a tennis player giving me wrong advice ?

I think the man meant in moderation. To me it's the same as people saying stuff like I NED MORE SPIN, WAT RACKET SHULD I HIT W/? It really doesn't matter for most people. Yes, the racquet and string can make a difference but I hit alot of spin on my shots. Give me any decent racquet and I'll...

    catch phrase?

I thought everytime you win the point you should shrug and say "Meh, too easy." Then, everytime your opponent wins a point just say it was a lucky shot. You'll get known pretty quickly : )

Hey. Do you live in Texas? I had regionals the past weekend in Lubbock.

How to hit a good slice serve?

I hit an extremely nasty slice serve. It lands halfway between the net and the service line for a huge angle and the ball just cuts away. I hit AROUND the ball so much that it even makes a completely different noise, the only thing I think about when I hit it is....hit the crap out of the...

    Fed's glaring weakness at AO

Guys, Federer takes his footwork coach with him to his tournaments. I can't remember his name right now but Federer has knowledgeable people with him to point things out with him. It's not like doesn't notice things that are going on.

Best volleyer in mens tennis today

Everytime I watch the Bryan brothers I can't believe my eyes...many pros have solid volleys but the sheer reaction speed of the Bryan bros is frankly ridiculous. I give it to them simply because it's one thing to get lucky and get your racquet on a fast ball...it's quite another to do it four...

    Bryan/Bryan-Federer/Allegro

I hate to break the bad news...so many of Nada's forehands are high net clearance grind em down shots. You don't think the Bryan's would love to put those away? Yes, they have nasty spin but the Bryan's are so competant at net though I don't see it doing much. Of course Nadal's backhand is a...

Difference b/w Roddick and Sampras serve

Roddicks serve is so fast that I don't think he has the volleying ability to follow it in. If you even get a racquet on the ball it comes back ridiculously fast. I've seen them both play in person. They are both EXTREMELY impressive. If you haven't seen them, you have no idea how much slower...

    Fed vs Tipsarevic "live"

This match proved why Federer is number 1. Every tennis player at this level is AMAZING. Even Roddick (who alot of people seem to think has no game) can be utterly devasting when he has an awesome day. Any of these guys can be "impossible" to beat if they are having an incredible day, the trick...

    Anyone have any pros' racquets?

When I was at tennis camp in Austin we had Roddick make a surprise visit. I used the original Babolat pure drive and broke the strings (back when I only carried two racquets with me). I was sad and said I didn't have a racquet to my coach but Roddick threw me one of his. I didn't get to keep it...

    help on backhand

Joe is completely correct, there isn't just one way to hit the 2handed backhand. What feels comfortable to you? I can hit it both ways but I prefer a dominant left hand because it feels smooth and stable to me. However, if you are having wrist problems (and Agassi mentioned this as well) then...

    How good is Davydenko?

How good is Davydenko? Terrible. I think he's an actor pretending to play tennis so that he can spy for big brother. Those amazing shots he hits? Special camera effects. He's only a pro level player, how good could he really be?

    Roddick's serve is over-powered

lmao, when I read the title I couldn't help thinking of videogames. I had this scenario play in my head Everyone else: SERVE AND VOLLEYERS ARE TOO GOOD. SLOW DOWN THE COURTS. NERF THEM. Volleyers: WHAT?!?!? YOU CAN'T NERF US. DANG IT Everyone else: Woot...HEY, THEY ARE TOO GOOD AT...

    Bryan/Bryan versus Federer/Federer

Of course if we go by what y'all say Federers would win. Bryans can't beat two people who know EXACTLY what the other will do. However, if we say that the Federers are same skill level but not telepathic then I say Bryans. Federer is amazing but the Bryans grew up playing doubles together...

In case you havent seen it *VIDEO*

In regards to net clearence, if I can hit the ball 4 inches over the net and get it in enough to be top 10 in the world...I'm not gonna fuss about it. Not saying his ball is 4 inches, I'm just saying that why should he add more clearence to the ball when his stroke obviously doesn't need it?

Recommend me string for maximum power

Guys, stop messing with him. Seriously, you should be ashasmed. I like a hybrid myself. I use some strands of Superman's hair in the mains for durability and then some of Sampsons in the crosses. Seriously though, maximum power? Can you tell a difference between the different kinds of...

a knot went into the grommet hole

Of course if you have a promiscuous grommet then this will probably happen again... Seriously though, changing out the grommet strip definitely can't hurt and ask your stringer if knows how to do a fisherman's knot to start it. (Hopefully I'm not getting my knots confused) With that knot you...

    Loopy forehand

Good advice. I'd also check your forearm pronation, exagerated pronation can put alot of whip on the ball. What I've seen help people is to come more AROUND the ball then from under it. Try to catch it more out in front of you.

    advise on tennis stringing

I was in your same spot and now I do string for my team. I would buy alot of string (I bought the cheapest reels I could on this site) and just strung racquets, cut the string out, and started over. Why would you be unsure of how to tell them you string racquets? Just say "Hi, my name is...

    Backhand power vs. Forehand power

Lmao, I'm glad we established that he's going for more control. I was sitting here like  the whole time. In all actuality, choking up restricts your wrist (not saying you should wrist the ball) but in a natural swing you will LOSE spin.
