Ha, I don’t think he has done a good job, still would like to see him replaced But relative to Goldstein he’s doing alright

    ITA team rankings and WTN

Ohhh Feddie Columbia, Harvard, and very nearly Princeton now have better teams than Stanford The fall of an empire - they’d be struggling if they were in the Ivy League Nice to see Duke far above them as well :)

Players that retired on their own terms.

pete and agassi both had great exits in their own way pete went out with a GS win andre went out with the best on-court retirement speech i've seen in my lifetime - short, sweet, connected beautifully with the fans

    UGA Men's Tennis

UF with Shelton and Shelbayh I’ll take over UGA with Michelsen and Quinn all day long Baylor with Brooksby would also be a beast but alternate realities is a stupid game

    UGA Men's Tennis

Except other schools also had guys turn pro But yes in your fantasy land where UGA is the only school that lost elite players to the pros, you would’ve been great

Doubles Opponent Complains When I Call Ball OUT to My Partner

Oh I’m aware - which is why it works in extreme circumstances when you feel you’ve been screwed - if a point has just been taken from you, it’s more likely than not you’re now losing the game, maybe tied, rarely still winning the game - so restarting the game is an improvement over being down...

Doubles Opponent Complains When I Call Ball OUT to My Partner

Yep, you could argue that, I’d claim such an argument was absurd and it’s not up to me to have to interpret when the word you say to call a ball out is a call or instruction, and if by some chance a ref sided with you I’d subsequently claim I was up 40-0 in the game and it was now 40-15 Perhaps...

    theatrics by Clemson assistant

What a clown, yes a lame attempt to get a default, and ACC / NCAA should remove him from team activities for long enough for him to think about it

    ACC tennis

yet another reason the coaches shouldn't be walking around on the courts in the middle of games, coaching every point, it has definitely gotten out of control

    SEC Tennis

UF follows up their win over TAMU with a 4-1 win over LSU so much for being outside the top 50 in the country, nice to see some young guys really starting to find their stride in the college ranks

Doubles Opponent Complains When I Call Ball OUT to My Partner

the same way you do after it bounces, using your tongue and larynx which is why no one should use the word 'out' to communicate with their partner, unless they plan to have their opponents claim the point if the ball lands in, as i would, per: 12. Out calls reversed. A player who calls a ball...

    Define a good college coach

My criteria: 1) someone who pisses off bob 2) someone who ruins a once dominant program like Stanford 3) someone who does not ask women’s college athletes to meet them for drinks in the middle of the night to discuss their career

    Stanford Men

Don’t bother w this troll Cal is so irrelevant nowadays that, if that one poster didn’t exist, the only time they’d be mentioned is when Feddie celebrated lopsided victories over Cal the same way he celebrates wins over San Francisco State

    Big 10 Tennis

Peter Kobelt is indeed a legend - his OSU tennis profile used to say his favorite sports memory was hitting a big basketball shot against a school called Big Walnut, forgive me if I misremember by a tad, but that was definitely the gist My favorite elite college tennis player web profile of all...

    Stanford Men

Agree w your assessment and that’s why it’s not sad to see Cal that weak, because their one fan on this board is a jackwagon - at least Stanford has some reasonable people to balance the town crazy

Is there much luck involved when your kids grow up training with you and attend regular high school rather than shipping them off to academies and psuedo-school online, and they both become well-spoken college athletes, one of them a pro athlete?

Ha, he’s going to convince Shelton to abandon his son on tour, to move to Ohio, having previously coached in the Southeast and at places his now-graduated kids attended. No connection to Ohio. Brilliant. That’d probably take 10M a year.

What a team Illinois had those years Funny story - in 2005-2006, Illinois played at Duke and it was clear our guys were going to get whacked despite being a top 10 team - but that didn’t stop us from trying to get in the Illini players’ heads... indoors at Duke, overlook setup, Ryler DeHeart...

Doubles opponent hugging the net and complaining about getting hit

Have myself broken someone’s thumb in several places with a body shot - thumb of off hand on a backhand volley got smashed between the ball and the throat of the racquet - obviously not intentional but yeah tennis like any other sport has its (rare) risks

Yep, if this happens, apologize But 130 mph and hits orbital rim = occupational hazard, tell him to suck it up

    Is Agassi underrated?

I mean neither are on the Mt Rushmore of tennis for me, so all good - and obviously 1 GS doesn’t outweigh 12, Andre won at Wimbledon and USO (and Aussie, and Olympics) as well
  25. M

    Is Agassi underrated?

Yep, let’s put it this way Pete never made a final at RG If you added three fictitious RG finals to Pete’s record, which would of course be his three best results ever at that GS, Agassi’s RG record would still be better
  26. M

    Is Agassi underrated?

His RG record is miles better than Pete’s - not even comparable Pete - 1 SF, 24-13 record Andre - 1 win, 2 F, 2 SF, 51-16 record Not trying to convince the large majority that hold Pete much higher than Andre otherwise, just not that way in my book - being able to beat the best in the world in...

    Is Agassi underrated?

yeah, i cannot take anyone seriously in the all-time greats list that was as bad as Pete was at RG - so it's 50% that I value Andre more highly than most, and 50% that I don't think that much of Pete and would never utter his name beside the likes of Djokovic / Nadal / Federer / Laver
  28. M

    Is Agassi underrated?

Yep, very underrated by others in my book I’m part of a very slim minority that values his career grand slam more highly than the additional GSs that Sampras has

yes, his hands are amazing, has to be in the dubs lineup when he's healthy have always been surprised how well he picks off volleys at the net, esp when his partner serving, given his singles style of play
