Need I remind you that these people actually play tennis at a fairly high level and are USPTA certified coaches in my area, so I think their critique is quite sound.
One of my coaches emphasized the two handed take back. Tlm has a common problem of a limp/inactive non dominant arm. The coach, who is USPTA certified and has a daughter playing DI tennis and a five star son, has mentioned that a common way to correct this is to hit two handed forehands for a...
I don't like the way your left arm is being inactive and limp on your forehand take back. Try to get it more involved by stretching it out to your side to facilitate a greater shoulder rotation.
I think you should watch videos of my serve and backhand Jack. Your forehand is fine for your level, but your backhand is basically a chip with a nonexistent drive and your serve has many hitches.
I do know what you mean, I have a friend who is still a high schooler who is a 5 star and has a Federer style forehand. Huge weapon. He won several Designateds and has competed at Winter Nationals and many National events. He beats me about 4 out of 5 times now.
As someone who was a staunch Federer supporter until 2011, I have to say that Federer has a good model but an eastern grip is much tougher to master for the modern game. I used to hit a forehand like Sampras/Federer until around 2010 when I switched to a SW forehand at the insistence of my coach.
I hit a lot of reverse forehands on deep balls and on the run. I do it as more of a subconscious reaction to a ball that skids off the line. Pete Sampras did he same in his playing prime with his reverse finish, and Nadal had taken this to another level.
Stan has a really good forehand to emulate, but I would have to personally recommend Djokovic. Best forehand to emulate bar none because of how clean it is and how early he can take the ball.
That's because you haven't seen recent videos of my backhand. I am hitting a lot more spin with more of a whippy finish right now. I would love to get a video of myself to show you next time I'm out on the courts.
Tlm, one of these days when I actually play tennis again for the first time in like a month, I can make a video tutorial of how to hit a forehand. Would you like me to do that for you?
Where the shoulders are relative to the ball determine the amount of power you can generate. On a backhand, opening up with your dominant shoulder being the right (one handed backhand) is NOT ideal, but opening up with your dominant shoulder being the left (two handed backhand) is what you want...
The two hander is like a left handed forehand if you are right handed. The ball is already on your left side so that is why it is easier to rotate your core and trunk like on a forehand for a two handed backhand. The one hander is swung more from the dominant shoulder, and it is impossible for...
For an internship? I currently have an offer from a small startup called Tennis Activity Tracker. I have an interview with Symantec on Friday and am in contact with two companies VizCommunication and MoTek Technologies.
I was at Universal, but two of my friends were complete d-bags and made a fake user on FB of the girl I like and made added her to a chat where we made crude jokes, so I flipped out and blocked them for a week.
Newton's 3rd Law states that for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. When you swing forward with your dominant arm on a one hander, the non dominant arm swings back as a reaction to the driving force of the dominant arm. This is why the one hander is a more linear shot than a...
Two handers are fundamentally different; if you try to swing across with a one hander and open up your shoulders, you are fighting the natural laws of physics. Not only that, it feels and looks extremely unnatural to have your non dominant arm come around your body. For a two hander, since most...
When you open your shoulders on a one hander, you tend to hit more across the ball instead of driving through it, hence you lose power. I don't know how Wawrinka does it, but he does have the best one hander in the game right now. When you use your non dominant arm as a counter balance and drive...
