    Tecnifiber NRG2 16

In my opinion, NRG is a little softer and sigtly more powerful. Spin is the same. X-one has a tad more control and holds tension a little better. In terms of confort and "smoothness", I feel NRG closer to gut than X-one. Generally speaking I tend to consider both strings as the top of the...

    Tecnifiber NRG2 16

Hi LarougeNY, as far as tension is concerned, I guess it's basically a personal issue. Hence, I think there's no universal rules. I love this string and I tend to keep its tension as low as possible considering racquet, season and possibly balls. Generally speaking it's a soft and...

    The effects of adding lead!

Interesting, morten. So, let's say I put 3+3 grams at 3 and 9 o'clock to get more stability but I want to couterbalance the weight and keep the same balance. What would you do? Thank you in advance.

Volkl Tour 10 V engine Mid

Hi everybody, I've been playing with this racquet for 3-4 months and like it very much. In particular, I guess I get on very well with its flex. I was wondering if somebody out there uses and has customized this racquet. If so, how and with which results? Thanks a lot.

Good string for dwelltime or pocketing.

First of all, you should tell us which racquet you play with. Depending on this, it would be possibile to consider if you can lower your current tension; in my opinion this is the very first step to take to increase ball pocketing. As far as strings are concerned, I would advice you to try...

Can't afford new racquets right now, one last try at customization

Actually, adding 30 gr is really a lot. My advice: 1) Position: concentrate lead tape at 3 and 9 o'clock position plus underneath the butt cap to counterbalance. 2) Do not exceed: start with say 4 gr at 3 and 9 (which makes 8 gr) and 5-10 gr underneath the butt cap (so you get up to 18 gr)...

    Least moving Multis

Which racquet do you play with? I feel head size and string pattern make the difference. I've recently switched to a Volkl Tour 10 mid (93 si 18x20 strings). Even with my multi at 22-21 kg (sorry I cannot convert in lbs) I have minor movement.

    multi filament

In your shoes I'd go for a set of reaction and a set of either Tecnifibre X-one or XR3.

    Multifilament string poll

NXT and TF X-one Biphase. But do not forget TF X-tra dynamic and XR 3 and wilson reaction as well.

    Lower powered Multi?

I would say Wilson Reaction and Tecnifibre XR 3 (at least this is the european reference). Of course they're still multis, which means they are in the "power side" of the spectrum power-control, but they give some more control without being too stiff. Very good stuff in my opinion. Of...

im a baseliner; what is better low or high?

I would tell you that lower tension produces more spin and power. Personally I like low tension but it's a matter of preference. The real suggestion is to try and find out by yourself what suits your needs better. take care

lead on the throat. Pros and cons

Very precise and detailed post. Thank you ShcMad. What I can understand from your words is that as far as volleys are concerned, lead on the throat doesn't help at all because the higher swingweight reduces racquet's manuvrability. A question raises: does lead on the throat increase the...

lead on the throat. Pros and cons

Thanks a lot movdqa for your opinion. Actually, I used to do some experiment and even if it could sound strange, when customizing with lead on the throat I've never been able to cleary realize how good the set up was. By the way, by "throat" I don't mean 6 o'clock position, I mean the two...

lead on the throat. Pros and cons

Hi everybody, I'd like to have your opinion about placing two stripes of lead tape on the throat of the racquet. According to some previuos posts, this would make kind of a depolarized set up. But more basically my question is: which pros and cons would this customization bring me...

    Beam width

Despite my ignorance in physics, I give a try. In my opinion a thinner beam delivers more control, more feel and less power and vice versa for a thicker one. What's more interesting is the shape. A squared/boxed beam a là Diablo/Prestige/Tour 90 makes the racquet more solid but less...

    Customizing the handle

Hi everybody, I'm about to use a Volkl Tour 10 VE, still keeping my beloved Wilson Pro staff original 60 95 as, say, "back up racquet". I'm aware of the differences between the two sticks and I'm gonna accept them, a part from the handle shape. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna miss Wilson's...

adding lead on my tfight 325

Considering both your aim and style and the stock weight of your racquet, I would tell you: just place 3-5 gr at 12 and then see what happens. Take 3 gr as the point of start and force yourself not to go over 5 gr (unless you're superfit). If the stability is not an issue and you just want...

Wilson Pro overgrip vs. Babolat VS original overgrip

Bloody hell. Are you a pro? Did I get you? You play 3-4 hrs a day? Every day? Well, if so you've been using it for 12 hrs since you wrapped it. More or less it's the same for me, far more than Babo vs. BTW, Mr federer's opinion was much shorter than mine but more effective. take care

    Soft, low powered strings

While reading your post the package of Tecnifibre X R3 was coming clearer and clearer to my mind. It is the new version of TrC that Valjean has already suggested and I agree to him. I've never tryed the TrC (here in europe TF don't sell it any more) but X R3 is supposed to be a little...

How to increase the weight of the butt cap?

Try to riconsider this point. If the lead on the butt cap works and it's effective, it's also gonna be kind of your good job's signature on your racquet. Be proud of that and show it off, instead of hiding the proof that you work on YOUR stick. That is not gonna be a store racquet any more...

Wilson Pro overgrip vs. Babolat VS original overgrip

In my opinion pro overgrip by Wilson is far better than Babo Vs overgrip. As far as sensations are concerned, I feel the same you do with Wilson's overgrip. On the other hand, when using Babo Vs overgrip I have a good feedback once the grip is brand new, but it peels off very soon and looses...

    Review: Tecnifibre Multi-Feel 16g

Thanks a lot diredesire for you review, I've recently demoed the multifeel, keeping TF x-tra dynamic (or NRG2) as benchmark. I didn't get disappointed just because I knew multifeel was supposed to be under the level of x-tra dynamic (power/black line versus orginal/orange line. No doubt!)...

Which string for a Volkl Tour 10 VE?

Oh my God! A 93 si head size and a 18x20 string pattern with a multi is too powerful! What is that racquet? Anyway, I'm gonna take into account these indications and aside the string that SBC suggested I'm gonna consider TF X R3 a multi on the stiff/control side of the spectrum. Thank...

Which string for a Volkl Tour 10 VE?

Thank you SBC, actually I was thinking about a multifilament string (full job since I don't like hybrids). Let me see what other posters will say. BTW, why did you write "I loved that frame"; don't you use it any more? Is there a specific reason? Take care
