    Nadal's Career Golden Grand Slam!

No, because he can't win the REAL career golden grand slam until he wins Cincy.

US Open Final: Rafael Nadal(1) V. Novak Djokovic (3)

INDEED...I was too slow to turn off the tv; before I knew what was going on when Nadal's hoisting the trophy was cut, I had cheerleaders' bottoms in my face.

Nadal's GS opponent playing like shyt again

Djokovic wilted in the latter half of the 3rd set and in all of the 4th set...he just looked gassed. Still he was able to play good ball in spurts.

Is Nadal's road the easiest path to a GS final in History?

Yeah, that's one of the perks of being #1.

US Open Final: Rafael Nadal(1) V. Novak Djokovic (3)

Also, of course I congratulate Rafa on his first US Open title and completion of the career Grand Slam. It wasn't the prettiest conclusion, and I don't think either player was able to bring their best to the table today, but I found it satisfyingly dramatic in the end anyway.

Is Nadal's road the easiest path to a GS final in History?

You think the sections are a problem? How would you address that then? Draws in life don't always distribute themselves fairly to everybody.

US Open Final: Rafael Nadal(1) V. Novak Djokovic (3)

yeah I know it's unfortunate that weather exposed CBS's intent to make tennis a low priority yet again. At least espn picked it up so we could see the finish, it would have been a crime against the sport if coverage simply dropped.

    Roof over Arthur Ashe?

Problem with a roof is that physically supporting a massive structure with the surface area equivalent to the current stadium's outermost seats would probably be impossible without supports. I'm going to guess that the area encompassed by Arthur Ashe is significantly larger than that of any of...

B.G. If you read these boards.........

BG, Fowler, and Cahill make for some amusing commentary at times, which makes them cool by me. Even though BG may spit out BS frequently, it's often funny. I never had a problem with Carillo she's all right. Cahill is the best out of all of them IMO, good balance of everything - humor...

Do you think Dick Enberg should retire?

Enberg is horrible...tries to fill up the air way too much. Not a fan of his voice either...makes me want to turn the audio off.

That's the best facial expression of any ATP player this year thus far

Nadal unhappy with decision to postpone

Indeed...funny how things turn out huh? time to bring this back in from the match thread! credit to FlamEnemY for this brilliant piece

Is Nadal's road the easiest path to a GS final in History?

Huh? When did I deny anything? I think you're being a bit presumptuous. I think his draw turned out to be lucky. I was stating the fact that it doesn't invalidate dmt's claim that it is up to the "tougher players" to show they're tougher by getting through their sections. they didn't in this...

Djokovic's interview w/ Mary Joe Fernandez = winner

is there any place to see the pre-match interviews? I had heard his talk with Mary Joe Fernandez made him sound like he was shaking in his boots, with a "deer in the headlights" look. Hilarious to reflect on now given the result of course.

Federer — distorted perceptions on this forum

One positive I can draw from all of this is that going into next year, I can see tennis fans pulling for him in a completely different way; they have seen this year, more than any other, that the Federer they got used to in the previous decade is receding into the past. They will start pulling...

USO 2010 SF - Roger Federer [2] vs Novak Djokovic [3]

yeah...i couldn't believe how consistently Djoko was pummeling Fed with those forehands in the last three games and keeping the ball in. It was like watching the AO 2008 version of his groundstrokes.

    The Australian Open Curse?

The "curse" is more expansive than that IMO! here's a post I made back in June when someone else mentioned something "off" about people who do well at the Australian Open: In all seriousness I don't think there's a curse, but it's just entertaining to point out what's interesting.

Proof that Nadal Joker Final is a Fail

Probably still not as big a fail as that joke of a womens' final. I truly feel sorry for those ticket-holders. But still, it's a bit fail-ish.

Is Nadal's road the easiest path to a GS final in History?

I don't see how this invalidates dmt's claim that they couldn't get the job done - bottom line, they failed to beat their opponents in order to meet Nadal, whether or not the opponents were tougher. And what do you mean by "justify"? Nadal's draw is "unjustifiable"?

Djokovic - How much of a chance does he have

It seems difficult to predict what kind of Djokovic shows up these days - in fact, he seems to come in and out DURING matches too, making things very mercurial. Things could change quickly if the Sunday final gets washed out as Djokovic will get some rest that may allow him to maintain a high...

US Open Final: Rafael Nadal(1) V. Novak Djokovic (3)

it's so hard to make a prediction, after I was so wrong about the second SF....seems very difficult to predict how Djoko is going to play. I will go with my biases and hope for an epic Nadal 5 set win

USO 2010 SF - Roger Federer [2] vs Novak Djokovic [3]

Sooo, I had to leave to go to the dentist's after the second set today and I assumed Roger would raise his game and close out the match at ease....guess I was dead wrong!! My dentist's happened to have a tv for patients there and I watched the end of the match there. That 5th set was the most...

Nadal seems to have to go through Fed for all his slam wins

i don't think this is particularly special relative to other players in the same era, since most other players who've made slam finals in the past 6 years have to get through Fed to win it all as well. The sole exceptions there include: Safin-Hewitt AO 2005 Djokovic-Tsonga AO 2008...

    Predict Nadal-Youzhny outcome

I would argue that one was more entertaining because of how amazingly bad it was. There were some "Oh-my" moments in that match, and not of the good kind

    Predict Nadal-Youzhny outcome

This is what I thought; in fact I just noticed that Nadal rarely plays great tennis in the GS SF matches in which he ends up winning. It seems he puts in just enough to win.
