    One handed backhand so easy

I just typed “young Gasquet” in YouTube and this was the second result in the list.

    for Kurt

By obscure I mean not well known. Nirvana was anything but obscure; it was probably the most famous band of the 90’s. My comment about fading into mediocrity applies to other famous bands of the decade, like Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins, Green Day, and so on. Of those famous bands, Foo...

That’s starting to get a bit too obscure. Even the Flaming Lips are a bit obscure for this type of conversation.

In doubles the stronger player should ALWAYS play the ad court.

Psychologically, it’s harder on the serving team if they are constantly trying to save break point rather than always being ahead in the score. Also, you can’t win a game if you never get game point. If the weaker player is playing the deuce side, you’ll have fewer game points in your favour...

    for Kurt

The ones who died young, to put it bluntly. The ones who survived put out two or maybe three good albums and that was it. The only exceptions I can think of off the top of my head are the Flaming Lips and Foo Fighters.

    for Kurt

I think he would’ve faded into mediocrity like most of the other 90’s rockers. Very few had more than two good albums.

    I have been lobbed

As I mentioned earlier, lobbing makes it easier to hit angles, probably because you have to step slightly in front of the ball and hit it slightly behind you rather than directly beneath you. I think the reason there are more pros lobbing with the tweener is because driven shots were too...

    I have been lobbed

The thing is, almost no one has the ability to drive the ball an angle to their dominant side without changing their alignment, and hitting an angle to the non-dominant side would mean hitting a sliced shot that is difficult to control with no dip (like hitting an underhanded passing shot). So...

    I have been lobbed

And if you can’t get there in time to set up for the smash, you can still lob over your shoulder or to your side, depending on how low the ball is when you get there.

    Last Name Translations

It’s a joke referencing transitive law https://www.britannica.com/topic/transitive-law and the Greek mathematician Euclid. Although I’m not sure the joke quite works, since Euclid was known for geometry.

    I have been lobbed

If you watch most people hit tweeners, you’ll see that they almost always hit the ball straight behind themselves. So whatever direction their hips are facing as they take their last step before the shot, the ball goes the exact opposite direction. Even watching videos of tweeners in ATP...

    I have been lobbed

The thing I find with the tweener is that most people can’t vary their placement relative to their body alignment, and it’s a rare person who can lob well with that swing. So, I can usually tell where they’re going to hit the ball as they’re setting up for the shot.

    I have been lobbed

The nice thing about that shot is that you can also lob from the same setup, so your opponent doesn’t always know what’s coming. Another good thing about it is that you’re hitting down, which is really useful in doubles because it makes your opponents volley up. With a tweener, you’re hitting...

    I have been lobbed

I almost always hit over the shoulder. If I get there fast enough, I can go for the Agassi over-the-shoulder smash I rarely hit winners off of it, but even in doubles it usually catches my opponents off guard and allows me to get back into the point.

Can finally hit a great serve but it causes back pain. What can I do?

You’re probably arching your back like Djokovic rather than tilting your shoulders like Sampras.

Backspin serve - the future of tennis.

I noticed that, by his second service game (last game in the video), both opponents figured out they should be standing right behind the service line to return, and they broke him pretty easily.

Serve rules and others that deserve consideration of rules change...

Again, I don’t think the problem is big enough that a rule change would have a noticeable effect. Even at lower levels, I don’t see that many people who throw up enough bad tosses to take up a significant amount of time in a match. Thinking back to matches and practice sets that I’ve played, I...

Serve rules and others that deserve consideration of rules change...

I understand changing the rules to improve the game, but I just don’t see that having a 1-toss rule would do that. In normal conditions, I don’t see many bad tosses that are allowed to drop, so I don’t think there’s a problem there that needs to be fixed. If anything, such a rule change might...

Serve rules and others that deserve consideration of rules change...

If you think it’s important enough to warrant a change in the rules of the game, then that means it’s a big deal to you. I personally don’t think it’s a problem that needs fixing.

Serve rules and others that deserve consideration of rules change...

Most of the people I’ve played against throughout my life don’t throw up that many bad tosses, and the few times they do back out of a serve in a match aren’t enough to cause me a problem. The few people I’ve played who do throw up a lot of bad tosses usually cause themselves far more problems...

Serve rules and others that deserve consideration of rules change...

I really don’t understand how you’re so psyched out by a bad toss. Most of the time, a bad toss is pretty obvious, so it shouldn’t be at all surprising when the server chooses not to swing at it. Speaking of swinging, you analogy is a bad one. A fake pitch would be like swinging at a serve and...
