    develop 1HB later in life????

After years of playing two handed from both sides I’m transitioning to the one handed on both sides. I find the one back hand rhythm wise is exactly like the serve. The grip is firm and tight at the hitting zone. The serve grip is firm and tight at the precisely same time in the serve which...

Will line calling technology ameliorate hooking in USTA matches?

Even MLB planning to get rid of umps for Robot calling next season Study show that umps missed on average the correct call 9 times per game So what does this say for the player that is partial? I would not play with a player again who I strongly suspect of hooking me NOt sure if this is true...

Will line calling technology ameliorate hooking in USTA matches?

This is the part of the game that I hate the most. I call it like it is and if the other player dont like that tough banana and sometimes if it passing shots close to the line sometime I dont catch a good look at it because its pass me , the other player might call it We cannot be accurate...

[HELP] Should I use the platform stance or the pinpoint stance for serving?

Go with what gives you the best and effective rhythm. I have groove a pinpoint /narrow platform In which both my feet are together I start off wide with my back foot just past my shoulders I have this idiosyncratic move where my front heel plants then my front toe plants as I move back foot...

Seniors lounge (over 50) come on in.

Don’t like to jump as I get older Change my serve so I walk through the serve like they did in the pre 1970s I’m righty and landing on my right foot rather than hop into my left foot after the serve It’s actually not really difficulty to change

"It's Great If You Aren't Athletic" Tennis LEGEND John McEnroe BURIES Pickleball To Pat McAfee

Just watch my first pickleball. Doubles Aggasi/Roddick vs Chang/McEnroe Looks like table tennis except on the the ground to me Underhand serves seems easier for those who can not master the tennis serves or lost the art of tennis serving Seems like need quick reflexes and good volley skills I...

One handed or two handed backhand?

Learn them both But use the one that you are better with in a match. I use two handed backhand I practise the one handed back as it feels timing wise the same as a serve. When ever my serve is out of synch, I start practicing my 1HBH as it helps my feel That follow through of my 1HBH racket...

Does the "up together"(as opposed to "delayed arm") leads to less erratic tosses and better extension, but trades power?

Great thread to bring back as I have been working on the rhythm of my serve I prefer the “up together” cause I feel it synced up my arms together. On the ad side I prefer extend my right racquet arm as much as I can along the baseline then bring it together with my tossing arm On the deuce side...

Whats the point of bouncing the ball?

Notice some players bounce up and down with their feet to gather some rhythm I like how some players bounce the ball with the racket arm outstretched and catch the ball between the legs with outstretched arms

    eye dominance effect on tennis

Left eye dominant righty. Goofy style snowboarding My tossing arm is diagonal about 45 degree/pointing to net post I try to make the ball toss drop into the court towards the net so my tossing arm elbow does bend a bit more when I’m serving to the deuce side

[HELP] Should I use the platform stance or the pinpoint stance for serving?

My preference is pinpoint , just fits my natural rhythm of my serve inquired my back once keeping my foot in wide platform stance I like to move my feet Interesting my right foot ( im a righty ) there a tiny steps up when I serve then lift off the ground on the deuce side On the ad side...

The overrating of Roddick is getting ridiculous

Roddick's biggest weapon was his serve during his playing days The rest of his game was just so-so I total disagree with observers who describe his serving stance was pinpoint. Roddick was narrow platform with abbreviated takeback He did not move his feet together when he windup the racket...

Service Toss: Help! I have the YIPS!

One of the other concepts im learning from those video is the rhythm I like take back with the racquet arm and tossing arm together in unison When the ball leaves my hand I’m usually about to set into my trophy position. My toss goes straight up in at angle on the ad side and I got the...

Service Toss: Help! I have the YIPS!

Watch this last night and his other video on 3 take back variation. Never really thought about like that but it’s a good nugget/pearls there Like I said my problem is more on the ad side toss. My toss is at an diagonal and on the ad side I think I had more confidence if I set up my toss my arm...

    Help me serve at 100mph

I like the extended arm takeback where the racket arm elbow is slightly bent or straight when moving back prior to the trophy pose Creates a longer backswing for the racket arm to accelerate into the serve

Where do you aim - an imaginary point above the net or the opposite court?

The white net headband across top of the net is what I aim for most of the time For speciality shots like volleys OH smashes definitely a spot inside the court

    Forehand lag fundamentals

My one handed forehand is weak so I use a two handed forehand Don’t want to think about all this minutia either. It paralyze by analyze. I just see where my opponent is and aim to the Bh or FH side I don’t really look at the ball

Do you like to return in doubles on deuce or ad?

Deuce side. Not because I’m better at return from the deuce side. I’m equally bad from both But I much better at the net on the deuce side and can put away the volley and quicker to react on my BH volley. I’m righty. Feel I can win more points off the volley from that side than the other side

All beginners/adult learners/rec players should learn the serve this way

I think easier to learn to serve by doing underhanded forehand slice For a righty to the as side. Using the continental grip. Then just reverse the motion by gripping more palm continental with pressure points on the top of the racket handle. Then practise serves on the deuce side with a...

Whats the point of bouncing the ball?

Bouncing the ball on the ground with tossing arm is evil I never do it now. However using the racket to bounce the ball is very acceptable and I encourage it.

Are you more confident serving form the ad/deuce court

For aiming I prefer kickers deuce I imagine the bounce to the servers Bh/FH On the ad side it’s more natural for me and I imagine spot just above the net for the ball to go over

Are you more confident serving form the ad/deuce court

Singles I usually play kickers. Ad side seems more naturally. Don’t usually like slice cause I tend to slice it wide on deuce side unless I stand close the doubles ally. Slices seem like a better double strategy cause partner covers the net Wouldn’t work as well in singles.
