Fed has been pushed to three sets twice so far in Hamburg, can he beat Delbonis to move to the final against either Almagro or Fognini?

I'm going to go with Federer in 3, Del Bonis may take the lefty Nadal route of constantly battering his backhand.

There was such potential for cool Fed matchups in this tourney - Gulbis, Verdasco, Janowicz, Haas. Completely awash.

I think Federer will take it in straight sets, although I was wrong with him winning in straight sets today. Delbonis might be a little tired from his long match with Verdasco today.

    You're right :)

I always have this default stereotype view every left handed player who plays Federer thinks "Topspin forehand to Roger's backhand...every point"

I hope for a Federer vs Fognini (mark 2) final!

If Delbonis can contest Roger, then he must SERIOUSLY think about retirement.

I saw this Delbo guy against Verdasco.
He was actually playing well and can give good fight to Roger.

    Delbonis #114

If Rafa loses to a player around #100 people bash him during months, as happened with Rosol, but hey, Delbonis #114 is a superplayer who "can give good fight".

It seems like someone is getting ready to receive bad news...

A racquet. "Any thing is a weapon if it is held the right way"- Annie DiFranco (I think). No shots though.

So is Melzer. And Verdasco. And one of the Bryan boys. Doesn't mean they can beat Fred. BUT... we will see.

I would say it is already down to an all time low, that is why he has changed his racquet.

I can't see anyone stopping him now. He might lose a set in each of the remaining matches, but he'll find a way to win.

This Mayer guy looks like a disgruntled office worked that got demoted.

If a nerd can do so much damage to Fed, I wonder what an athlete like Delbonis will do.

Federer should win but the key is for him to keep serving just like he has been. Isner showed us that big serving is the key to making good things happen on clay.. As he beat Federer in 4 sets in the Davis Cup last year.

Isner beat Almagro in the finals of an event on clay this year making him the first American to beat a Spaniard in an ATP final on clay in 15 years.

Wow, Federer barely even looks like a top 10 player these days. This is stunning stuff to watch and very disheartening.

Now this is a nice rally from Fed, his heart was in it and it showed. But he can barely produce rallies like this consistently.

That's because the same doesn't happen. Federer looks old and slow and has for the entire year and it's very difficult to watch and it's really sad. He's struggling with players like Florian Mayer and DELBONIS. You can't tell me that isn't extremely concerning. Broken FIVE times by Florian Mayer
