I still believe that Rasol will get into the zone and lose 1-6 in the 5th. You can do it!

Lendl will pay some good money to Rosol.....if he manages this. Murray and lendl first Wimbledon title.

lol maoning cos for once stopping play goes against Nadal? Is it better they do it now or in the middle of a bloody set? Cos the light won't last all set if it goes beyond 25 mins. Be serious. Now is the only logical time to put the roof up!

Conditions will be heavier with the roof closed which will slow things down and actually suit Rafa. This isn't the WTF.

Didnt lendl used th serve and volley at wimby to take advantage of the bounce before wimby became 30% clay

This is not about Nadal, Nadal fan.
This about tennis strategy and skill.
There are Nadal fan sites where all threads and posts are about Nadal.
You are preaching to the choir about Nadal and his achievements with me.

The roof closed at Wimbledon doesn't make the court like a normal indoor court. There's too much humidity still within the court/stadium, a few people have mentioned it.

Sadly that's not going to happen. Nadal will win by pushing as usual and then he will go on to win the title. Tennis is already dead, and I'm afraid it cannot be saved.

Rosol's level of play dropped, Nadal's didn't up at all. The only reason why he hit those defensive shots was because Rosol pretty much plain out choked. Nadal's lucky that he met an inexperienced player, because if he met a more experienced big hitter in the early rounds, he'd be in massive trouble.

Rosol has come in with a great gameplan though, whoever his coach is should pat himself on the back, because despite Rosol's massive defencies in movement, he's given Nadal tons of trouble by simply going for broke on everything. The refusal to give Nadal any rhythm has given Rosol a great opportunity, and this roof delay should cut Nadal's momentum and reset the match for both.

30 minutes to close a roof seems a bit dated.

It's not logical at all if you go by how long the previous two sets were. The fourth set was only 32 minutes long. They could have played the 5th set in that amount of time without the roof having to be closed.

Is Nadal playing poorly or is Rosol just playing very solid tennis

Part of that is for climate control as well. 15 minutes for the roof, 15 minutes for temperature and humidity adjustments.

Lendl will hope Olderer will finsh him off....Then Murray will have no pressure in the final.

Djokovic isn't the favourite if Murray played him. But Federer is if he played Murray.

Hope Nadal goes on to win this somehow. What a smack this is though. As a fan, I am completely shocked and disappointed. I have never ever heard of Rosol before this match and to be losing this badly to him is unbelievable. And one of the sets Nadal won was also mighty close.

Nadal is playing poorly, and Rosol is serving like Raonic. When his serve fell off a bit in the fourth he lost the set. Not a coincidence at all.

I am trying to say that if he wants to be where he is then he has to do the whole tour: hard courts and grass so he has to adapt. He is predominately happy on clay and plays extraordinary tennis on this surface. The others - Federer and Djoko are not. I don't remember Sampras winning the french open

Experienced big hitter in early rounds? Like who? Sure, Nadal is the most vulnerable in the early stages of Wimbledon when it plays the fastest but early round opponent (in the current seeding system atleast) for a top player like Nadal is usually gonna be some journeyman who won't be able to sustain his level the whole match.

Yeah but he's not likely to lose, that's my point.

Yes I'm pleased the break doesn't screw the total underdog who already has enough he's up against. Nadal's not going to lose anyway, I am pleased however, that someone made it interesting.

And hang on a minute, just cos he's been taken to 5 doesn't mean this isn't a cake draw (which it isn't really, but Rolso is NOT a hard draw to get) When Djokovic is 2-0 down to Seppi that's not a hard draw but this is? LMAO. Same biased clarky.

At first I was quite disappointed with Dodig losing to Rosol as I know Dodig can hammer down tons of aces against Ralph and their being a slim chance of an upset. But this is great stuff from Rosol today and I could see how he beat Dodig in the 1st round

If Nadal wins this match I give him a great shot for the title. It's a match like this that serves as a wake-up call and will fire up a top player for the remaining rounds.

More proof as if we even needed any that Nadal is a beneficiary of the slow court speeds that the ATP now adopts. If he played during the 90'e/ early 200's he would be sitting 9-10 in the rankings. His serve and ground strokes are simply not good enough to cut it on fast courts.

I linked into a live stream at the start of the sixth game, fourth set with LR on serve.
The video buffering, I couldn't see anything; then suddenly I saw two warriors on the grass. The first action I saw was of Rosol serving to the ad, trailing 0-15.

Rafa returned the serve with a TOWERING MOONBALL to Rosol's backhand--just an absolute monstrosity of a moonball. Not some mere, heavily-spun ball one hits with an extra meter or two of net clearance. No, it was moonballing purity. For several moments, the ball disappeared through the top border on my media window before reentering the camera's frame.

He will be remembered for this type of play. It may be tactically intelligent, but it is unbecoming an all time great IMO because it is passive aggressive instead of aggressive.

Nadal only has to make it past the 4th round and the title is his. Home sweet home from the baseline

Rosol was playing out of his skin IMO, it was the classic scenario where a lower ranked player comes out of nowhere, hits everything with pace and authority, and almost everything lands in.

Nadal was flat in the first but in the 2nd and 3rd Rosol was like a Terminator.

Agree but he could still rack up close to 5000 atp pts on clay alone that would put him in the top 4 easy provided he won 2-3 matches at every non clay tourney.

Nadal won't win,and is the one who had to come from 2 sets down to even get to a 5th set. How is Rosol playing up against anything here?

I am also fairly sure you would also be pleased if Rolaids had a match like this because someone decided to make it "interesting",huh?

Nadal was playing the worst I have ever seen. There was one shot which came towards him which he did not know what to do with and it reminded me an extreme amateur as to how I play and he does not look anything like the guy who has won this tournament twice

    I do not completely disagree.
However he does have decent ground strokes but they are gimmicky and rely on racket tech.
He also relies on serious rhythm get him out of it like how fast grass used to do he gets discombobulated.
Fast Low bounce and skidding balls he just can not get under them with the bolo swing. Then these dudes have no clue on how to take these balls out of the air and put em away is pitiful.

They're getting the air-con on to prevent moist, which is why it is taking 30 minutes. Don't think the humidity would change much.

    See above.
