That was close because of Rosol just gifted the break back you know Nadal will come back with confidence, but he holds.

I think the top players use early rounds to practice.

Well, if the umpire isn't going to stop the match then Nadal will have to take it into his own hands and take a medical timeout soon.

nadal looks really frustrated for a guy who is just practicing.

also, his fh is still in FO mode.

that said..its the first week, the courts and beat up and slowed down just yet, esp with the rain.

5 years ago I'd never have imagined Nadal would be staying in a tight match thanks only to his serve.

Hopefully Rosol takes this set, they'll have to shut the roof at some point surely? It could get to 9pm before the 3rd set is over.

Haha yeah i get it now. Well even if he's in this mediocre form Nadal can get himself through the match with only his topspin moonballs. Personally, I feel like he should be fined for disrespecting Wimbledon by treating it like clay. He moonballs no matter where he's playing.

It's just an observation. He often struggles on grass in the first matches.

Grass is so peculiar and they play so few matches on it. Players who don't play RG or crash out early just have a huge advantage in the first week. It has always been like that.

At this point there really is no excuse that the umpire isn't stopping the match and allowing Nadal to practice for a bit on another court.

Nadal looks like a deer on ice, I was worried he'd rolled his foot over the ball for a second!

he struggles the first few matches because the courts are still slick, playing quick and the bounce isnt as high. you know, like real grass...like Halle.

by the second week its playing more like clay.

Are you joking? We don't need another slam awarded to him if it wasn't for injury like wimby 2009.

Rafa needs to get to the second week when the grass is all worn away. By that point it's virtually a different tournament. He'll keep fighting.

It's really unfair that Nadal has to play when there is still some grass left on the court.
