Is novak switching to another company or HEAD is switching novak to a Pro version? 16x19?

Interesting that TWE on facebook says "Noticed this mysterious HEAD racket, next to Novak Djokovic┬┤s bag?"

They specifically said "HEAD" racket, and they've play tested it. And I thought I saw a HEAD stencil on the strings during the change over. But I noticed it didn't have the same grip/overgrip on it, so I really think that he wasn't using it, but placed it there to get attention. The black racket was placed next to one of the current rackets, and neither one looked like it was touched for the whole match.

Watched the replay of the match and there clearly is a head symbol stenciled into the racket so the racket is from Head... my guess would be the new speed

This is infact a publicity stunt. I know for a fact that head wanted him to use this to create hype for the new speed coming out in january! He is not testing any other brands racquets.

Safe to assume then that it's his existing frame - blacked out and ready for the new PJ.

When the new frame is released, people will go out and buy it because it LOOKS like the one he plays with! Regardless that the shape and make up from his personal frame is entirely different.

    I've become such a cynic!

He is subliminally telling Head, "look you need to sign me for big money or I'm going to switch to this black Babolat racquet sitting here on my bag".

Why dont he just use the new paint job for a few games than switch? why with the whole blackout?
blackout just shows a new experimental racket instead of the new speed, everyone knows he uses the radical under the current paintjob , no difference

Here's Novak holding a new 2013 season racquet, just a teaser, I think it's stock, different string pattern...

Its got the round mark on the throat, probably insisting novak to switch to a 16x19 current radical mold.

The mark above the grip is the graphene logo, which is the new tech. Obviously hype for the new stick.

No lead on the inside of the hoop.

Did he actually hit with that against Murray or was it just for show?

Probably just marketing hype... "Hey Novak, put this in your bag and pull it out from time to time just long enough for people to see it and then put it back."

Novak new racquet painjob 2011,2012, and now 2013.

I think HEAD is getting a bit greedy here. Usually a new paintjob/racquet comes every 2.5-3years.

Good news is the Speed MP will get even more cheaper......

what are you talking about? the 2011 is the model on TW right now(IG), there weren't any speeds released in 2012... so it's right that a new model should be released this year (2013)

Paintjob rules the world. I'm kind of tired about these marketing operations...everyone knows that Djoker is using a paintjobbed old model...and so he will next year too

There will be a new speed line for sure, check the prices, all the speeds have been marked down to make room for the new ones, happens the same with wilson blades.

Everybody on Tt does. The average tennis player and average board member are probably pretty far off in their knowledge of the inner workings of the tennis industry. That being said I think it's pretty despicable that they do employ those practices. Seems downright unethical to me, especially when you consider quality control has gone to crap and pros would never use sticks built to such low standards. Wonder what his new stick will look like anyway, speed mp was pretty good looking pj imo.

I don't know that the pros use sticks with better quality standards. I imagine that a bunch of hairpins are used with variations in weight, distribution and balance and that they are customized with silicone and lead to even out the differences.

You're probably right, it just seems odd that If they were the same then they wouldn't be manufactured at different locations. For instance are heads pro stocks made in Austria or something? Is the whole layup done there or do they just send them there for further customization like silicone and gripping etc.

I believe it is not a babolat racquet the throat is different and the clear grommets are head grommets.
