both types of rackets are marketed as the ultimate in terms of precision and control, however as they are different set ups, there must be differences.

i know the general concensus is that a 95 has a more forgiving sweet spot and a 90 has more spin production; however if there are any other pro's and con's of each set up when compared to each other i would be grateful to know.

more specifically, i would like to know how these different racket set ups compare to each other in the following areas:

    placement on serves

    angled / drop volleys

    punched deep volleys

offensive / short angled backhand slice

    flat offensive forehands

    many thanks in advance.

What specific rackets are you looking at? Tighter string pattern gives more power at the cost of power. Loose patten = vice-versa.

More control at the cost of power, I believe.

I preffer the 18x20 midplus 95 because the bigger head gives you more forgiveness, while the tighter pattern gives you a similar level of control with the 16x19 mid. Ok, so it's a little bit less control, but it's close enough.

    18x20 95 - great control

16x19 mid (90 & 93) offers a little more power and the control of 18x20.

The AG 200 has quite a bit more pop than the K90. I would say the 16x19 mids have less power and more control than the 18x20 MPs. But the 18x20 MPs have probably the best combination of power, control and forgiveness. They sure seem popular right now.

You are right JediMed - I totally spaced out. I forgot to factor in the headsize. 95 does offers more pop.

My Wilson nPS 95 gives excellent control. But a 16 X 19 90 sq. in. racquet will give a little more spin, but not quite the same degree of control.

You have to compromise one way or the other IMO.
