Anyone go this past weekend? Just wanted to know how the competition was.
Where was the competition? I was unaware of this happening.
Pretty sure it is next weekend. At least 8.0 is. I have some friends playing in it.
Yeah, 8.0 mixed is next weekend. I may post some numbers later in the week.
Pretty sure it was in Tucson. I think it was 2.5, 7.0, and 9.0. I know Caribbean won the 7.0.
A friend of mine played and lost this weekend, 9.0. He hasn't given me the full download, however.
8.0 Mixed is this weekend. I have no clue about other sections, but the Southern 8.0 team is pretty strong if they bring their full team and will definitely be a tough out as they have a lock down court every match.
They had a great record in their regular season sub-flight, but with only one other team that isn't necessarily hard. With 4 out of 5 matches being won 2-1 at Sectionals, and all 4 being 2-1 at Districts, I wouldn't quite consider it lock down on every court, but perhaps they weren't running out their 3 best teams every match. They do look tough though.
Also, sounds like they are getting rain and may do so much of the weekend. I wonder what the contingency plan is?
I heard day 1 completely rained out. More rain forecast. It will be interesting to see how the USTA decides to adapt. When do they change to pro-sets or some shorter match format to try to get it all in?
the SoCal 9.0 mixed team, which came in 2nd at sectionals, came in 4th at nationals last weekend.
about 10 years ago, there was mixed nationals in los angeles and it practically rained the whole weekend. there was some time on sunday where it didn't rain. the USTA changed all the matches to play 2 out of 3 tie-breaks since that was all they could fit into the time constraints.
They finally were able to start playing matches in Tucson late today and abbreviated them to be single set matches.
Not all of the flights are showing as complete, but a couple are, and this format can make for close finishes.
Flight 6 is complete and had Mid-Atlantic and Missouri Valley finish 2-1, also tied with 5-4 record on courts, also tied with 4 sets lost each, so it goes to the game lost tie-breaker and Mid-Atlantic lost one fewer game and so is listed first in the flight. This despite Missouri Valley winning head-to-head 2-1!
Flight 7 is going to come down to Eastern and Pacific Northwest, both 2-0, playing each other.
Flight 8 also had two teams finish 2-1 but Texas easily won the first tie-breaker going 7-2 on courts vs 4-5.
Flight 5 is still up in the air with Florida 2-0 and SoCal and Northern both 2-1, this being the 5 team flight.
i was there from the mid-atlantic 8.0...it was kind of lame to play 6 game sets with no ad...but what can you do...
I heard the eastern team that won the 8.0 were pretty rough.
Alive and well.
the texas team in the finals said they were pretty loud...i was suprised the team i lost to lost in the finals...i played one guy who plays D2 now, and another girl who played in college...not sure how that makes an 8.0 pair...haha
yeah love the D2 player playing 4.5 and his partner who played college as a 3.5, typically Dallas self-rates
You're a disgusting sexist wanker pig.
Hey! Easy on Fedace!
He's a harmless and naive user. I'd take him over the fanboys and fangirls any day.
No. Feck that ****e. I'm sick of revolting pedophile men acting like the world is their candy store when it comes to "hot young girls."
I'm sick of the sexism on this board, period.
