Can you make the spin potential higher on a 18x20 racket with a thin string such as 18 gauge?

i get more bite on the ball with 17g vs 16g in my 18x20. so i would say yes u will get even more bite at the expense of durability.

yes... thinner string should give you more bite.

Depends on the string. Standard string will give more bite with a thinner gauge but with textured string, you should go thicker.

    yes u can.

on my K Blade 98 i use Luxilon 112 (18 gauge) on main and Head 18 gauge on cross.

tired it first with 17 gauge.

comparing both, more bite and more spin, definitely.

    i m loving it.

I used 18g gut/syth hybrid in my ROKs and needed that gauge to get a grip on the ball. It worked well. With a dense string pattern, you get a decent life out of thinner strings.

Wow, am getting a lot of use out of this ITF stringing link. I don't believe the thinner string will increase your spin, but it might make the 18x20 feel a little more comfortable, depending upon the string.

I've tried Head synthetic PPS 18 on my Redondo mid and, man, the string really created spins like I've never seen before. The fuzz on the ball kept being torn off and I could see this thing floating in the air everytime I impact spin. And this was strung at 62.
