What are the advantages/disadvantages of these two stringing methods?
    Thanks.

2 knots means it was done with 1 piece of string. 4 knots means it was done with 2 pieces of string. Some rackets require you use a 2 piece job, and of course if you want to hybrid, you have to use 2 piece as well. Otherwise it's a personal preference and you can probably search on the forums for discussions between the two methods.

In fact, I wonder me if it is needed to follow manufacturers recommandations : for example, Wilson Pro Open in 1 piece whereas Babolat Aeropro Drive in 2 pieces...

Babolat recs 2 piece for Pure Drives,e tc. Is it a problem if they are done one piece? I had a very experienced stringer tell me he does them one piece all the time with no problems, and I saw he did his personal frames one piece.

Babolat recommends two piece but allows one piece.

Can't answer that question you would have to ask Babolat for the specific reason. When stringing one piece when you make the transition from main to cross there is a short section of the racket bearing the load and when you string from bottom up the pressure on the racket moves in the direction your stringing I have heard. If that is true and I think it is the throat supports make the throat the stringer section of the racket.

Check out the article in the April RSI magazine on page 20 for a much better explanation.

EDIT: Of course this argument could go on and on. There are just as many world class stringers that tout the benefits of one piece stringing and that is ok. Probably the best argument will be, "I have strung thousands of rackets one piece and never had a problem."

When if doubt follow the manufacturer's recommendation.

yeah this argument of 1 or 2 piece can go on but one big difference for me is knots. I like one piece but most of the head and babolat are two piece (some wilson are 1 piece blx 90)

Overall 2 piece is easy to string compare to 1 but I like 1 piece because of 2 knots.

Head recommends 2 piece because of the stress at the corners where the cross and the mains are. The grommets are very close.

You use less string with 1 piece. I personally like the consistent feel of AWL 1 piece patterns but 7 years ago, the inside of the top corner cracked, on an older Head LM Radical after a string job I did 1 piece AWL. It is the only time this has ever happened.
