    Highly unlikely. But who wins?

Nadal: not been in a slam final for a year, confidence taken a slight knock, not played someone in the top #350 in a best of five since RG 2012.

Federer: Assume he has a good draw and gets through relatively easily in the earlier rounds, maybe pulls out a Murray win in 4 in the SF.

I'd pick Nadal in five coming back from 2 sets to 1 down.

Of course Nadal would win, he's still at his peak. In 2012, going into the finals he lost the fewest games ever. Statistics back up the claim he is at his peak. Ask Mustard.

if Nadal is playing well enough to get to the final then he would win.

Not sure he will be in that kind of form but watching his last match he looked to be hitting with more power and depth so fingers crossed.

Federer winning this match would make me very happy, I believe he has it in him to outplay Nadal if he (Federer) is redlining even on clay. But if Nadal is even remotely fit Federer hasn't got it in him to sustain it over 5 sets I don't think.

I don't think Nadal is getting to the final this year though.

Fed in 5 although I'd prefer Fed in straights.

They could meet in the quarters.

But it's nice to see the *******s on TW still haven't learnt their lesson, thinking that Federer's gonna beat him up there lol. He's never even taken 2 sets of Rafa at RG during his mystical, magical, ethereal peak level and now he's going to take 3 sets off Rafa?

LMAO, if Rafa is playing well enough to make the final, that means he would've beat Djokovic to get there in the first place, if he's in form to beat Novak, logic tells you that he'll take care of Federer in most likely 4 sets.

His knees might give out in the final after 6 best of 5 set matches ;)

So, what you're basically saying is, Federer's not good enough to beat Nadal and has to rely on Rafa getting injured to win.

That doesn't sound very good for Rogi, Nadal didn't rely on Federer injury to beat Fed at Wimbledon, he simply out played Federer who was in better form than the previous year.

Well, even if Rafa's knee gives him trouble, he'll still beat Federer in the final in 4 sets anyway.

    Do you ever lighten up?

Nadal is a better clay court player, unless Federer plays the match of his life he's not going to beat a healthy Nadal.

As for Wimbledon, you're just baiting. Try and stay relevent.

Pigs will fly before Fed beats Ralph at RG. Let's be honest, RG 2011 was his last and best opportunity and he blew it.

I think he'd have more chance in a quarter final than the final. Nadal might not be firing on all cyclinders and there would be less pressure. Unlikely though...

I was staying relevent. Nadal is RG king, Roger is WIM king. Roger has failed to "dethrone" Rafa at RG over 5 attempts, whilst Nadal "dethroned" Federer in only 3 attempts.

Fed could play the match of his life and still won't beat Nadal in bo5 on clay, it just won't happen. Look at Rome 2006, hard to imagine Fed playing any better than that on clay and still couldn't get the job done against teenage Nadal.

Nadal isn't just "a better clay court player", he is the greatest clay court player of all time. There is only one person who comes close, but that person wasn't as dominant on the surface as Rafa is. Roger grew up on outdoor clay, so did Novak Djokovic. Yet they both have failed to even push Rafa to 5 sets at RG let alone beat him. It took the a completely ruined court last year just for Novak to get into the match, if it didn't **** down rain, Rafa would've won in straight sets.

I'd be willing to bet my life that if Novak and Roger were in Borg's era, then Borg would struggle to win as many RG titles as he did. Not to mention Borg was pushed to 5 sets at RG on numerous occasions and had a record of 49-2 IINM, whilst Nadal's record is 52-1. Not to mention Nadal's dominance in all the second tier clay tournaments.

Nadal is master of pantomime. He will make you believe he is the same tireless KOC and may make his way all the way to the final again BUT anyone with enough belief, like Rosol or Sod or Zeballos did, can take him out even at RG.

If Rodge gets to RG final it will not be as easy as some of you guys are thinking.

Nadal. Federer will never win a major title again. You would think even the most ardent fan of the Swiss would have realised this by now.

If you remove the blinkers you will see that my post is entirely justified. He is 31 and slipping. It is not even a bold prediction, just an obvious conclusion to reach. It is the time of the Serb and the Scot, deal with it.

    Exactly.

How many cracks did Fed get at the French vs. Nadal, and couldn't manage 1. What makes anyone think he could do it now? He couldn't even do it at his peak. If Nadal makes the finals, that means his level his high enough to take Fed to the woodshed or 4 sets at the MOST

If Nadal is playing at a close to a high enough level, I don't give anyone much of a chance vs. Nadal outside of Djoker.. Maybee Murray.. But thats very doubtful

If nadal makes it to the final beating 1 of top 4 in semis, my money would be on him.

Would love to see the Drama Queen cry like a baby like AO 2009.

But heck I hope Nadal doesn't beat Djoker on his way to the final.

I want a Djoker Nadal final and Djoker to win this time. The first thing the old man should do is retire and give chance for youngsters to shine!

Well yes, you would be. Being a supporter is not about being blind to the bloody obvious. Being a fan of a player does not also mean that any individual with a contrasting opinion to 'Cult Fed' should be automatically criticised. This appears an unfortunate and instinctive reaction for Federer fans these days - as they slowly realise that the party is nearly over.

You call my comment criticism? LOL. You need a thicker skin my friend. If i went back a year i bet there are at least a hundred similar posts to yours saying Federer would never win another major nor ever be #1 again. Am I right? Guess what? He did and he was.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Guys like you will never learn their lessons. You would have said the same thing a year ago and you saw what happened. I am not saying he will win more but wont say he wont either. He is ranked number 2, holds one major title and has been in Quarters or better of every other major so he will have his chances, to think other wise is just too simplistic thinking. You base your nonsense on the "31" age, look at what happened to Nadal at 26.

You got to understand who you are looking at buddy. The serb and the scot will never be in the same league as him and their rivalry can only give opening to Federer just like Djoker-Nadal did.

Now go bring your other id and stop hiding when you want to shoot from the hip.

I have never previously said that Federer was 'too old'. It was only watching Murray beat him in Australia that I realised he is no longer a threat for major titles. As a fan of the Scot, I am always concerned by the firepower of the Swiss, but that is no longer the case. Federer is the computer#2, but Murray will be there soon enough.

As for the rivalry between Murray and the Serb not comparing to Federer and Nadal, I really could not care. I will be watching history being made as you consume youtube videos recalling the 'good old days' with your 'RF' hat slumped.

The fact that you discount the notion that time has finally caught up with the Rog tells its own story. You believe he is some sort of superhero that will last forever. One day the prediction that he will never win a slam again will ring true. That time has arrived.

No, I never believed he's some sort of super hero, I just enjoy watching him play his graceful game. And I didnt compare the rivalries. I said the rivalry between the scot and the serb will give Federer openings.

I see as a Murray fan you've been under stress for years and now that he finally beat him in a major you're jumping out of your skin.

Speaking about RG, if Nadal falls in djoker half Rodge will have a good chance.
Anyways, we will talk again in September.

Let's be honest here. If there are two tournaments Rafa owns, it's Monte Carlo and Roland Garros. If Rafa loses at MC, then we can maybe talk about writing him off for RG but I don't see him losing on the dirt starting at MC.

If Federer was on the other half of the draw (a coin flip chance) he could have easily won AO2013.

There is no reason to believe that Ferrer would have given him any more trouble than he gave Novak. And a Novak-Murray semi would have been extremely grueling and Murray would have stood a much better chance of beating him since he wouldn't be coming off a tough 5-setter against Roger.

And whoever would have won that game would have faced a fresh Federer in the finals.

While I don't think going in Federer is the favorite at any slam, given the right draw, I think he stands a very good chance of possibly winning another one.
