Managed to get tickets for the men's semis and for the evening sessions of men's quarters. Might think about getting some more tickets for the 4th round too and I would quite like tickets for Louis Armstrong on Labour Day. It's going to prove an expensive trip, but I really can't wait.

Still would like tickets for the final, but they are proving difficult to get hold of at the moment...

Hotels in Manhattan are so expensive! Probably going to have to stay somewhere in Queen's instead.

I go to USO almost every year in the past 15 years, I stayed in a friend home in NJ. But he moved to other state. Last year, I stayed in a chain hotel near JFK, and take taxi and train to the stadium, it is more convenient, no parking to worry about.
There is Holiday Inn Express across Corona park (long walking distance, but you have to book months early and very expensive).
For USO2011 I will use roomorama . com site instead.

Has anyone used StubHub for tickets before? Seems there are some tickets on there that are cheaper than face value, so I'd be interested in looking into that. Just want to make sure it's safe and there are no problems using it though...

Another thing, I can't quite remember what times sessions finish, but would it be risky to buy tickets for Louis Armstrong on Labour Day and also evening session tickets for Ashe...?

Thanks for all the advice and help!

StubHub is great- buy tickets from there all the time.
My preference is to get "automatic delivery" (or something like that)- that way you can print the tickets at home and not risk any delivery hiccups.

    Thanks DCaicedo.

This may seem a bit off point, but actually thinking of extending my stay in the US and heading over to Vegas for the Mayweather-Ortiz fight (assuming it's actually taking place at the MGM). Any of you been to see the boxing over there - are tickets hard to come by...? They seem damn expensive from what I've heard!

This is a tennis forum after all so no worries if no-one can answer...! (I should really post this on a boxing forum...)

I just booked a room at Red Roof Inn in Flushing ith AAA rate of $179/nt. Stayed there last year too. Very safe, clean and convenient. Located near 7 train and only 1 stop away from the Tennis Center. Within walking distance if you wanted to walk. There are lots of great Chinese restaurants in the area.

I am going the first two days as well.

Yes you can. As long as they aren't professional type cameras. I took my Nikon P100 with a 26x zoom and it was fine. Took tons of pictures and video.

Hi - is $190 (inc. delivery) roughly okay to pay for a men's final ticket?

It's near the back (!), but that's the cheapest I can find...

Are cheaper tickets likely to become available on ticketmaster anytime soon? All I have seen is premium seats become available...

I thought so too because this was the policy. However, it looked like the policy has changed according to the web site. Still, strangely, badly, vaguely worded, as if a team of lawyers got together with a few schizophrenics, drank a lot of alcohol, and wrote it while spinning around in circles.

Stubhub or something like it is your best shot. I got some decent tickets for the men's semi's on there.

Also qualies is a gold mine, especially with the practice court schedule the amex booth provides. If you can I defiantly recommend everyone to go at least one day.

hey guys, a couple of questions:

    1. Are general admission tickets worth it, or is it too far away and you are better off watching it on T.V?

    2. Is there any way to make sure you get to see one player? I reallllly want to see Federer play, if i do not get to see him play it will just be boring to me.

    3. I live a 2 hours drive away from flushing. If I go for two days, can I just drive to the stadium, or do you guys suggest parking and then going on the subway?

    1. grounds pass is good enough.

    2. although if you want to see fed you may need to get ashe tickets because i dont think they will stick him on a side court

    3. i would ride the train. unless you drive lexus then free parking

Yes, the more I read it and I've read it many times, I think they will do whatever they want on a whim. Good to know that the USTA is as badly managed as ever.

I'm reading soccernomics and it got me thinking that the USTA is much like one of the soccer clubs in England. It can't die, it is horribly managed but the fans will keep it going no matter what. In many ways, it is like many other non-profit created so that rich, connected people can get a fancy title and draw a salary.

One reason it can't die because the competition are equally mismanaged. You don't have to be great, you just have to be about the same as your competitor.

I'm going to the Open but seriously, why would you want to meet other members? What if I have a luxury suite or a whole section reserved for my business connections? Do I have to let you sit there? It can get very awkward. Worse, what if I forgot to bring my Viagra and my girlfriends have to find other source of satisfaction? I can't let them redirect their depraved carnal sensibilities toward you. You will never be the same again. They'll ruin you for every women who came after them.

No, better that we don't meet. I'm looking out for you.

ok just tried to buy them on ticketmaster
shows full price 68 per piece which is ok for me

but it shows the tickets as Section
    GA19
    Row
    10
    Seats
    35 - 38

does that mean anything? I thought grounds pass did not get any seat numbers or sections?

Hi all, I am Cricketics from New Delhi, India.

    Cureently based IN Maryland, USA.

I have tickets for almost every day of the tournament and will be coming to NY from 27th to 11th NOV.

It would be nice to meet some people

I have mostly ground admisson ti ckets for first week and some arthur ashe, but they are on extremeley top, so won't be watch much games. I ended up buygin some louis armstrong "good seats" atleast with that i can watch games at louis armstron from good seat.

Hi mate, Ignore that. It's just a norm. Ground admision basically means free first come first serve seats in all courts other than Louis armstrong and Arthur Ashe. In louis armstrong, you can use that same grounds admission ticket, but you can't sit in the front, since those are reserved seats for people who have especially bought reserved seats for Louis Armstrong stadium.

anyone know the price of 200 level tickets to the men's semi's, behind the players that is.
original sale price, not reseller pricing.

i'd like to go next year as i missed out this year and dont want to pay ripoff reseller prices.

If I still remember correctly from last year, it was about $76 for 1st week and $86 for 2nd week, front rows for the red section. This is face value for day session/ not evening. Evening session is about $10-15 more. See red sections on the stadium chart.

    http://assets.usta.com/assets/629/15/2011%20Arthur%20Ashe%20Seating%20Chart.pdf

For dark blue section is about $195 to $375 (face value), it depends on the location.

Those resellers prices are ridiculous. If you have buddies who live in NY City, you can ask them to get the tix at the box office.

well i live about 1.5 hours away so i have no problem getting them myself.

and yeh, i have no problem paying 195 to 375. no way am i paying 5 or 6 grand though to a reseller.
oh well. i'll be there next year if the prices are as low as you say.

    thanks.

Here's my US Open scenario, and any advice or help people with experience could provide would be greatly appreciated.

I'm heading to NY for the Open for the first time. I'll be in NY from 8/31 - 9/2 only. My single goal is to see Federer play. I realize I won't have an idea of what days he will play early rounds until the draw, and then there is waiting for the day/night session schedule.

Can anyone offer tips on the best bet for getting Ashe tickets (assuming Fed will only play there) once I finally know which day(s) of my trip he is playing? Seems that won't be until a day or two (tops) ahead of time. I really don't want to get shut out of seeing him in this one opportunity I will likely have. Also, anything else random I should be aware of given my goal?

    Thanks in advance.

All the answers to your questions are in the US Open 2010 thread.

Buy the cheapest Ashe ticket you can on Ticketmaster now, plenty available.

Fed will play Ashe most likely Monday or Tuesday day at 1PM or after the first women's match.

Very low probability if you don't know someone. Consider yourself lucky if you get an autograph. I got one last yr in Shanghai - pure luck - right place, right time. I think having the red RF hat from his Foundation helped.

I assume the response above was related to my questions about seeing Fed. I won't be there on Monday or Tuesday, but could go to any session Thursday or Friday. I only plan to go once, for whatever session I can see Fed. That's where I think it is tricky, and where I could use tips or advice on the best way to get tickets for Fed probably the day of his match.
