I'm excited about the Kohlschreiber / Gasquet match. What a pretty show of some amazing 1hbh's. I'm going for the upset with this one and picking Kohlschreiber.

Also, its good to see that Paul Henri Mathieu is coming back from a lackluster past two years. He's already won his 1st round and plays Nieminen tomorrow. I wonder what his ranking will be since its currently at zero.

Gasquet vs Kohlschreiber will be interesting, they're both playing relatively well at the moment. I think Gasquet will win in 3.

About Mathieu, what has happened to him? I have been wondering for a while....I thought he had retired for some reason.

Knee injury from what I hear. Must have been pretty serious to keep him out for a full year.

Hoping Berdych or Gasquet can win out here.

La Monf looked good....few too many double faults but overall nice win. Simon after a bad AO looks to be in good form as well for the spring.

Berdych will be too strong for Monfils - even with home support and no hawk eye

I will go with La Monf on this one, it seems about time for Berdych to pull one of his patented letdowns and lose a match you would expect him to win.

This could happen - sometimes Monfils pulls it out when you least expect him to

Yes, he has been playing pretty well over the past 6 months, even though his new thing seems to be, to act injured or very tired for a set and than try to come back. I think he has learned he can entertain adding some extra drama to matches doing this, instead of just trying ridiculous shots. :)

Oh Monfils, yet another final loss. His record in finals drops to 4-13. That's outrageously bad :D

He's playing decent tennis though, slightly more attacking than the last few years.

Still wayward when things get tough. Sometimes it works, often it doesn't. Not surprised at his finals record.

    Good tournament from Berdych.

Did he do much clowning in this one?

Berdych seems to be on good form at the moment. I wonder if he will go on a bit of a roll like Soderling did this time last year?

Not "clowning", I'd say going to the extremes whether he's on offence or defense. As a result he either gives his opponent chances and/or he makes wild errors.

His last match with Simon for example. He could have lost it easily in the 2nd set. Did great on so many break points, and in fact a match point if I remember correctly, many good first serves. But he still often followed good points with erratic points, giving Simon chances.

And in today's match his last DF to give the break was telling. Completely meant to hit a second serve ace when there was no need, and he missed badly.

Hmm... Monfils managed to take a set. Thought the Berdman would do it in 2.
