    Ballbasher&Pusher in same package.

Ballbasher without attacking qualities. Hitting middle of the court 90% of the time.

30 year old chainsmoker, 5'9, winning titles in back to back weeks, comes here starts off great and he can at times out defend Djokovic and Murray...

Have people been accusing the wrong Spaniard of doping? ;)

I agree, Delpo beats tipsy but loses to Fed, Ferrer loses one match to fed, tipsy loses everything

Seriously. He smokes a pack a day and no one finds it odd that at the age of 30 he's more fit and more consistent than ever before?

i guess cos he doesn't win the really big titles normally, so people don't get suspicious like they do with Nadal and Djokovic

No way a chainsmoker can run, run, run all day like that. They say Pics gets on the bike after a match for 60 minutes.

A Peak Athlete who smokes....and a peak athlete who does not smoke. The difference in their cardiovascular capabilities difference is marginal.

We all relate smoker to lazy, and unathletic people. It should not be a suprise there are great athletes who smoke and drink.

The smoker do get punished with damaged lungs among other things. I don't think Ferrer in that stage yet....so he still gonna reap the tour.

Imagine Ferrer without Smoking...maybe it will make the difference in beating Federer and Nadal.

It is interesting to note how many Federer fans have adopted Del Potro as their "guy" after Federer. Some of these Federer fans are always complaining about Djokovic and Nadal taking their sweet time between points. Well, what about Del Potro? That guy is an absolute joke when it comes to being punctual during a match.

It's about time Del Potro get criticized for being a "classless cheater".

    Check my signature ...

But I agree that both Djokovic and Del Potro as well as Nadal, need to hurry the hell up.

AND Murray too. In shanghai he was taking longer than Djokovic

What the F?? When did Ferrer smoke? I've never heard of this! I thought he was this typical sportsy guy that would never do anything even slightly unhealthy. Why does no one ever talk about this???

Also, regarding the part in bold. All spaniards are being accused of doping. The fact that Ferrer does not seem to run out of breath just serves as more evidence for this to be true.

Oh man, you should see some of the Photoshops that went around here at TT a couple of years ago. COMEDY GOLD. He said he was smoking in some interviews and TT just went crazy. But it was fun as hell I can assure you.

Ferrer was moving unbelievable and was getting some serious pop on his shots in this match...

I would love for him to sneak in a major before he retires.....

It is well-known that Ferrer is a smoker. Not sure if he quit or not, but he definitely smoked in the past. People have seen him puffing away at tournaments.

Wow, a grinder/retriever winning indoors against a big hitter, tennis is truly in the *******. Have the ATP completely gone bananas? Why not convert everything to clay then?

aaarrrgghhhhh..whats with del potro ??

a bit timid, he played half the time like a bangkok ladyboy..sort your head out son,

the tower of tandil was about 9 miles behind the baseline...almost rubbing his eyebrows against the backstop with every retrieve.

Dang, Ferrer is really good, better than ever. He basically owns everyone on tour by far except Verdasco and the big four.

That's my least favorite part about Del Potro. But taking time between points isn't a huge deal to me - it's more the icing on the cake as far as my dislike of Nadal. I'm not really a huge fan of Djokovic, but I certainly don't dislike him, and his time-taking in between points hasn't bothered me since, like, 2009. Still, faster tennis is better tennis in my eyes.

Vamos Daveed ! I picked you to win WTF so please at least make it to the knock out stage so I don't appear like a complete fool :)

I expected Ferrer to do well here carrying on the momentum from Valencia and then Paris, as against those who thought playing so much earlier will hurt him here. Let's see.

I know you never watch tennis when your mancrush is not playing, and know squat all about it so pointless to point any of this out to you but:

    1. Del Potro does not hit the ball anything like he did in 2009. He has never been the same since his wrist injury. He is still a power player, but not one of the dominant ones any longer.

    2. Ferrer actually takes the ball early and plays quite agressively on hard courts and faster courts. Always has. He is a much better returner and mover than Del Potro which would impact the matches on courts of any speed, in fact even more on faster ones.
