If Ferrer actually ends up beating Fed today, his confidence will be high enough to beat anyone else in the rest of the tournament.

Federer HAS to be hurt. This is the worst he's capable of playing. He's going to serve 20% for the match if he keeps this up. You can't beat anyone doing that.

Whoever said Fed didn't get enough sleep last night is right. He looks slow and sluggish.

You mean, you think he could at least something worth winning ?

(Don't get me started on Bercy...)

If he is indeed hurt, I doubt if we are going to find out about it. Unlike in the case of some who make headlines with their injuries ;-)

It's not like Fed is suddenly off today, he has been playing average since USO now. So none of us should be surprised really. Don't think he's winning this tournament this year. Hopefully I'm wrong!

You must admit that since the US Open Fed has not looked good at all. I think his age is finally showing and I really don't expect him to win any more majors.

    Oh yee of little faith.

If you ask me, he looks like he hasn't woken up. Take the shot he played to give the break back. If he was concerned about the match outcome (as in doubting he'd win), he wouldn't have played that backhand down the line on the backfoot on break point.

    He'll win, no worries.

Yeah, sorry about that. Cannot edit post (or find how to do so)
I meant, do you think that if Ferrer wins today, he could actually end up winning a worthy tournament ?
The only slightly significant tournament he has one so far is Bercy.
I wonder if in recent year he has one another tournament where he was not the top seed.

    Nice point at 40 all

I really hope so. And with the momentum he has going, I hope *this* turns out to be that worthy tournament. Next best thing to winning a slam.
The guy is such a hard worker and a seemingly nice chap, you can't help but root for him.

    First set federer, 6-4

Sigh, wanted ferrer to at least put up a fight but federer is playing awful and he's in total control.

First set Federer, I don't think Ferrer can win against RF, after losing that set. I mean Roger has only made 40% first serves in and still won it.

When will Ferrer realise that if Federer is playing his normal game, then he himself needs to do something different to ever beat him.

he certainly did win at least 6-7 points more than ferrer in the first set.
btw, ferrer just had his 10th break point before (converted: 1)

Federer clearly has some kind of a problem (possibly a health issue). His facial expression is not the one of a happy man, despite of winning the first set.
