Looking forward to all of his matches this week. Hoping he keeps this form or even raises it (the first serve percentage could be higher).

Federer's going to have to be creative to break the youngest slam champion record...

His play on the court is blissful to watch, his personality in the press is charming and witty, his respect to the other players is great like in losing the gold to murray, he was obviously disappointed but he looked happy coz he knew murray needed that to stop the hate everyone knows he gets.

You simply cannot deny federer the G.O.A.T status.

The court is definitely slow this time. No matter how hard the ball is hit, after it bounces its sitting up.

Very good imo. The courts are very slow, but Fed's baseline game ws very consistent and a slow low bouncing indoor court just helps his variety and backhand so much.

    I'd rate it 8 to 8.5 out of 10.

Oh ok that's great!! The O2 courts have always been slow but as long as the ball bounces low it'll be in Feds strike zone so that's good :)

I think that's the whole point of saying the courts are "slow". The ball is sitting up as far as I can tell.

It's not really jumping off the court imo, it just slows down a lot.

Well he would do almost anything for a faster court, but I am not sure he would go quite that far.

It's only myth made by Federer fans, that he play much better in faster conditions.Look at both Dubai and Abu Dhabi courts, are definitely faster than London, and on both occasions Novak won comfortably against him. He's great indoor player, but don't tell me that he likes ultra fast conditions in his thirties.

That reminded me of a hilarious caption on this photo by one of the posters here the last time Tipsy lost to Fed. Unfortunately a quick search didn't retrieve the post and I can't remember the poster's name (rommil, maybe ?) Here is an approximation :

Nole : He told my parents to shut up
Janko : He did ? I'll avenge you by taking 4 games off him.

Yeah it's true, and I think it's odd that he never won there, and lost to Murray also, if I remember two times, I'm not sure.Roger plays I guess better than others on low bouncing surfaces, like grass, cause eastern grip helps him to catch this low balls, but definitely not on fast and higher bouncing courts.

    Lol, that's a good one.

This time Koenig said "oil painting of a forehand" :) last time it was Sexi's backhand

Its not a myth ,his flat forehand will make the retrieval nearly impossible and grinding rallies from the baseline very very unlikely. I think murray also admitted one time ( dont remember when) that feds game suit faster surfaces.

The Truth on tennis.com said this "Federer surpassed 3 records with that win. He has now played 1072 matches on the ATP circuit, surpassing Stefan Edberg's mark of 1071. He surpassed John McEnroe's record of 875 match wins and now has 876. Finally, he passed Ivan Lendl who won 39 matches at this event and Federer now has 40. He's reached the stage where he breaks records every time he plays."

Those are giant accomplishments, especially 1072 matches without a single retirement.

The most interesting stat mentioned was that Tipsy hadn't even gotten a break point against Fed since 2008. That is unbelievable domination.

Federer grew up beating Hewitt and the likes. He is most comfortable with people who have no weapons to hurt him, like Davydenko or Ferrer.

Not sure why but he used to be known as very good at neutralizing big hitters. This may have been true in his prime, but not any time since 2009. Federer + a big hitter these days => world of hurt for the fans watching.
