You are right, sorry. Was looking right at the qualification scenarios, but my eyes were not working apparently.

It does not matter in the end. Fed will lose to either Murray or Djokovic or both in his current form. He has no chance.

Come on, don't be so depressed! Fed's level was below his first 2 matches today. Maybe he lacked the motivation because he had already qualified. You know he can play much better in the semi if he wants to. I think he will.

Thanks veronique but I really really don't think so. He really wanted to win that Del Potro match today. Didn't you see how upset Fed was becoming with all of his errors? Nope, whomever Fed will play, whether it is Djokovic or Murray, he will lose to unless he wakes up tomorrow as the Wimbledon 2012 Fed. His form has been really poor since Cincy.

I actually forgot that Murray has had a day of rest while Fed was out playing his 3 setter. That puts down Fed's chances of winning to 0 tomorrow.

Fed fans: don't be sad. Fed has already won the event 6 times. At worst, he doesn't win it this year but he will still have qualified for the semi once again and he will still have had a remarkable season with a slam and 3 master titles + an olympic medal AND the #2 ranking. How can that be bad at 31? It's not, it's been a fantastic season + he could still win this event. You know he's capable of bringing his best form when he needs to. At least, keep the tears for AFTER he loses. He's qualified, he doesn't have 0 chance, you never know.

I agree. Roger had a great 2012. Excited to see how he plays in 2013! Plenty of memorable matches this year from him. He still has it in him!

Well said! Certainly pleased with his year, just hope he plays well vs Murray win or lose.

And i told you he wouldn't duck Murray This is a guy who set himself up for multiple clay matches with Nadal you don't do that if you are scared of losing to a rival ;)

Did not expect that from you.

Plus a Del Potro has a better chance to knock Murray/Djokovic out than Ferrer.

It could work in the end for Federer.

Most likely a Novak Murray final. Would be happy if it was a Murray Delpo final....guarantees a new winner.

Precisely. I'm a Federer fan and I'm ecstatic with the year he's had. I never expected it - especially not for him to win Wimbledon again after losing in the quarters two years in a row. He's very much impressed me, and while I would've been even happier with a year-end no. 1 finish, I'm not that greedy, and he did plenty just by breaking Sampras' record.

Nadal fans? I mean we are the ones whose fav has been sitting on the sidelines watching everyone else excel while he has done nothing for nearly 6 months. I don't think Fed fans really need your consoling considering the circumstances.

I had a feeling he wouldn't play to his previous indoor standard this year, he's played a lot more matches this year than he has in a long time.

IMHO his disappointing seasons in 2010 and 2011, with all those early exits and whatnot, are exactly what allowed him to dominate the indoor events at the end of the year. He simply had more energy.

Disappointed to hear he lost, but not overwhelmingly surprised either. This was a great year, even if he doesn't win the WTF.

It's also easier because it was a loss to Del Potro :)

Trust me, if Veroniquem can manage one good deed in positive light of Fed, albeit for desperate fans, it is a day worth remembering :)

And (the other) Ralph's fans have come to terms of his silen- ...er, injury. You'll only have more reason to rejoice and much to look forward to once he does return. I do hope he does for the AO.

I don't feel desperate at all. Rafa looks upbeat in his FB updates. He's training at the gym every day. I'm sure he'll come back. OTOH, some posters here seemed in distress that Fed's level dipped today, so I proceeded to cheer them up. This is not something that I did FOR Fed, just for posters who are obsessed with tennis like me and who felt down after a loss (I know what it's like).

I kind of feel if fed can play good enough to beat Murray and he then plays that well again in the final he will win. but djokovic has looked more consistent by far.

Yeah i agree his lack of success in 2010 and 2011 allowed him to play better at the wtf. i think its looking like a djokovic or Murray win with fed 3rd favourite.

Funny how Fed fans are now blaming him being tired on why he's not doing well at the WTF this year, but will not accept the same excuse when it comes to Nadal. Funny how the tide turns around here so quickly.

Except that they are using that excuse now that Fed's 31 while for Nadal it was said he was tired/burned out for WTF in 2009 (23 year old) and 2011 (25 year old).

Surely, you'll agree that the grind of the tour is tougher on a player in his 30s than a player in his 20s? When Fed was in his early to mid 20s he could win 3 slams in a year and play a tons of matches but still arrive relatively fresh at WTF.

I do think Fed played too much this year for a guy with his age and mileage but that's his problem, not his opponents', their victories are fair and square, same goes for other players as well.

Nah she will say Nadal has been like a 40 year old the past few years. lol.

I'm not making excuses with fed but you can't have it all. last 2 years the indoor season have been the only real highlight, this year he did very well through other parts if the year so no surprise if he can't sustain that.

I made a reply to Zagor that was deleted for some reason. I'm not going to waste my time typing it out again just so it can disappear, but I will say that the double standards are hilarious around here. You *******s need to make up your minds.

He is not banned. I think there's doping in tennis too but the insistence on this mythical silent ban stuff is plain silly. Especially when you consider Nadal's constant injuries over his entire career. Is it really so far-fetched to believe he is actually injured? Don't the *******s on here constantly harp on the fact that Nadal's career will be short because of his style causing injuries? *******s need to pick one story and stick with it.

Is there a bias against Nadal on these forums? How about a different set of rules for him and for everyone else? I know you'll just deny both of those things exist, but anyone who reads these forums knows better.

I'm not denying there is a bias on these forums. Some ridiculous things are said like, MC isn't a masters because it's non mandatory (which has only been for the last 3 years but real reason cos Nadal won it 8 times) Nadal never defending a title off clay proves he's crap etc.. Federer fans arent any more biased than Nadal fans, but there are more Fed fans here so the forum leans against Nadal. Never said it wasn't that way, I don't deny everything like you seem to.

But I was specifically talking about me, not the forum, and I don't hold Nadal to special rules no one else has to follow.

And you must admit that a fair few Nadal fans are selective themselves, where every loss is cos he was injured or tired or weather conditions, or scheduling or some act of God that prevented him from winning. All fans make huge excuses but with Nadal you have a handy stand by "it was his knees" and sometimes he IS injured (and I can admit that though you would never admit Djokovic was ever injured at any time in his whole career) but it isn't every time Nadal loses a match.
