Maria's last win over Serena? The Championships. In 2004.

Sharapova won't win even if she plays at her career best and Serena doesn't show up. I mean literally doesn't show up.

The only way Maria can win is if Serena retires with injury.

Many people are so confident in Serena. Should bet on her if your so confident since she is only -350 favorite.

Hopefully I'm wrong but in checking the TV schedule, the Tennis Channel is not showing the finals live. ESPN2 is showing it on tape delay at 2:00pm EST. If this is true, I'm very disappointed. If anyone has any other information please let me know. Thanks.

Is this on tennis channel? Edit: Guess not. They would rather show a tape delayed Fed/Delpo match. Idiots.

Just be winning 4 games, Maria has proved the majority of the poll wrong. Too bad Serena still has an ATP-level serve to close out the set.

I was thinking Maria might win this one just because statistcally you would think she would eventually win one again, but it doesn't look like it so far.

I actually think Serena and Maria do respect and like each other as opposed to Maria and Victoria, who seem to really dislike each other.

We're going to have to invent new records for Serena to break. Next year, the Serena Super Slam? 6 slams in a row, this YEC, and the gold medal.

Just to give an example of the sort of year she's had:

If I have my math right, 86% of her 9400 points from 2012 came from tournaments that she won. That's pretty absurd; she either played mediocre and left a tournament early, or won it.

She also finishes with the most tournament wins for the year in the WTA (7), all of them worth at least 470 pts.

A sub-par Queen Serena wins agan.

Queen Serena personifies American tennis: powerful and utterly dominant.

This is why she is the greatest ever for me. She has not player since the USO, enters a tournament and wins it without dropping a set.

Wow, read on tennis.com that Serena hasn't lost to a top 2 player since 2007. Damn, what a queen lol. She didn't even lose a set all week!

If Serena wins the Australian Open next year, she will go into RG next May looking to hold all 6 of the biggest tournaments in tennis at the same time (the slams, the Olympic gold medal and the YEC).

She will be the huge favourite to win her 6th Australian Open title in January of course.

At RG she has actually been mentally weak in recent years, in contrast to how mentally strong and reliable she has been in the big tournaments on other surfaces. She wants to win a second RG title so badly, and that desperation has negatively affected her play there.

Its a long story but in short, the actual party in government is very pro-Islamic and each and every day they are limiting the freedom of the people. The last thing that they did was to not allow the celebration of the Republic Day of Turkey proclaimed from Mustafa Kemal ATATÜRK who was a secular personality.

I think she puts even more pressure on herself since Henin retired since she knows it is there for the taking. When Henin was there she knew there was someone who was better than even her best tennis on clay, but that certainly isnt the case now. Seeing Sharapova holding the Roland Garros Trophy, when Serena is probably thinking to herself if I were in the final I would have beaten her 2 and 2 at worst, probably fuels her fire that much more. I think next year she will do it.
