It was hard to resist making 'Serena' and 'not Serena' the only 2 poll options.

I voted for Sharapova because I thought this was a beauty contest.

Then the poll options would be 'Sharapova' or 'Wrong'.

The champion will probably be either Serena or Azarenka.

Sharapova actually has a chance now the way the groups are drawn, provided that she can overcome the Vika hurdle (there's no way I'm expecting her to get over the Serena hurdle though, that's never gonna happen). If she goes undefeated in RR and comes 1st in the group, which is most likely to happen, she will play the 2nd in the other group, probably Vika. Then IF she manages to beat Vika and for some reason Serena loses in the semis then Maria will be playing someone in the final who she has already beaten before earlier in the week.

Voted Serena becuase she has had a great record against the top 10 this year and career wise. Although I'd be happy if Vika wins and not Serena. I don't see anyone really challenging Sharapova in the white group so she is lock for the semis.

Sharapova isnt likely to beat Azarenka. When is the last time she beat her on a non clay surface, and their only close match on a non clay surface was the U.S Open this year which probably left some further mental scarring for Maria. Still you are right atleast now that there is a chance she could somehow avoid Serena, that would be the only small chance she has. Personally I would like to see an Azarenka vs Serena final. Azarenka is the only one with a legit shot to beat Serena in a big match right now.

The only match that isn't really one sided is Radwanska vs Kvitova. I don't think Maria or Serena will have any trouble tomorrow if they are playing well. Kvitova leads 3-0 but they haven't played since last year here. Radwanska was up 5-1 in the first set and ended up losing 7-6 6-3. It should be interesting.

If Petra loses to Aga tomorrow, I don't think she'll be able to make it out of RR. Hasn't lived up to the hype at all after 2011.

Red group looks a lot stronger and Sharapova probably has her 2 favourite matchups in her group. Lucky indeed!

I would expect that run to end this week, but Kvitova has won her last 25 matches indoors, with her last defeat under a roof coming at Moscow in 2010, so this is her favourite surface.

2 games in and kvitova has already committed 11 unforced errors, and now radwanska is 3-0 up in the 1st set

why is Serena playing in this thing, i have no idea. She hates the WTA championships. She said in the past, there is way too much press going on and she wants nothing to do with that.

Kvitova has never heard of going for shots with some margin for error. Why does she hit for the lines so much?

Sometimes doing a drop shot against Radwanska is not a good idea, she'll most likely get to the ball in time.
EDIt: And Radwanska gets the early break

Aggie putting on a "placement over power" clinic. Clean change-up winner in the corner. Then ace.

Kvitova DFs on break point. Radwanska up 4-1. I think Kvitova has 37UEs to Radwanska's 4UE. WTF is wrong with you, Petra?!?!

    PK breaks. Still 4-2 Radwanska.

Radwanska being Radwanska but Kvitova is playing absolutely terrible tennis today.

Looks like that's that. Radwanska serving for the match, twice.

Sooo Radwanska through to the semi-finals..:)

I would be surprised if she lost to Errani, though. That's all she needs to advance now.

Petra on a decent day beats Radwanska most of the time.

Too bad she doesn't have decent days. She has GOAT days and days like today. Ick.

But a nice showing from Radwanska. Great retrieving as always. And had a few aces and some nice clean winners.

It's Round Robin. Radwanska needs to win another match to ensure getting to the SF.

Well yea, but "virtually" as I don't see Errani beating anyone in her group (or any group for that matter).

It was a key win for Radwanska.

Looks likely the 4 semifinalists will be Serena, Azarenka, Sharapova, and Radwanska now. The only real question was Radwanska or Kvitova and that has probably been settled unless Petra beats Maria (unlikely) or Radwanska loses to Errani (unlikely). Would be shocking if any of Serena, Azarenka, or Sharapova missed it or any of Na, Kerber, or Errani made it.

Good for Radwanska. She's a smarter, better player than Kvitova these days. She'll at least make things interesting and keep the matches from getting too ugly. It would be fascinating if she got her long-awaited win over Azarenka here in Istanbul is the semis.

Even more than Wozniacki or Dokic??

I agree she could use another voice in her camp. She just tries to hit winners on every point. Not just any winners, but on the line winners even when half the court is open. I'm still fuming over her blowing set pt. against Sharapova at the AO when 75% of the court was open, but Petra hit a line drive wide. WHY do you insist on frustrating your fans playing this way?!?! She needs a brain upgrade ASAP!!!
