Anybody with an in have any information on the 2013 Aero Bag? Just curious.
Ok after hitting with the 2013 Aeropro Drive GT I must revise my previous observations.
You can tell the new 2013 Aeropro is quite stiffer than the past models. In fact I was using RPM Blast strung at 56 pounds and after a couple of days I started spraying the ball more so I restrung same string to 58 pounds and now groundies land deep in the court with a lot more control. With this racquets stiffness there is a big difference on serving. I find the racquet has a lot more pop on the serve than the last Aeropro.
I think it was a wise choice from Babolat to make the new Aeropro stiffer. Really easy to keep the ball deep in the court now and also the added pop on serve. Slicing is a lot better too......everything lands deep in the court. I find it really easy to flatten out my forehand if I decide not to hit topspin. Other then changing the tension a little higher there is a big difference between the last Aeropro vs the 2013 Aeropro.
Does the swingweight, in fact, feel lower than the TW-listed 331? thanks for providing feedback!
Yes -- we need to know. Have they really sorted the feel out? If they have this could be really special.
These 2013 APD looks good in the pics. When holding one in your hand, its even better!! Best pj so far after the original ones.
Too bad its still just as stiff. Guess if its selling great, who gives.
Didn't want to start a new thread but wouldn't an aeropro drive plus be better tsonga?
Saw one at a shop. Looked ok, felt head heavier than my '10 model.
Someone took specs and this is what I wrote down. It was strung with RPM 16, I'm guessing. "Stiffness 70. Swing 330. Balance 5 pts."
One thing caught my eyes. Babolat "Double Line" stencil only went half way across and ended at an angle (sort of like a trapezoid). They said it will be $195 retail (I think).
Yes.....The original PJ will always be the best
I don't know - have both the original and the 2011 French Open in front of me, and the latter is something else...
"feel better your spin" lol and wonder why nadal only commented on the pj..
I'm still waiting on Hankenstein's write-up on this frame.
Can some explain exactly what is different with the handle/grip shape on the new Babs (my searches are not bearing fruit)? More rectangular like Head? Or just more cortex?
I've recently been checking out the PD 2012 and it's generally a vast improvement IMO on past versions, but the stiffness is an issue for me. If the new APD is as stiff, cc, I think I'll be preferring my APD Originals. So... fingers crossed.
Any update review on this racket???
I love the new paintjob! Can't wait to see it in person. If they are able to match the feel that the 2012 Roddick frame was able to get with the new "cortex" I'll most likely be making the switch.
That is amazing, can't waite to order it and string it with the vs natural gut touch 16 or hybrid of gut in mains and the new rpm dual in the crosses. Have to get used to the logo on the string but I think it's the best and best looking racket in the world!
I saw the old 2012 PD Roddick is going for $129: http://www.tennis-warehouse.com/Babolat_Pure_Drive_Roddick_GT_Plus/descpageRCBAB-PDRGTP.html
They are actually offering free VS Touch Gut 16 (Black only) with it this weekend (11/23-11/25)...that's like $42 right there...does anyone know if the other Pure Drives or VS Gut are better, or maybe just a typo?? Haven't tried to order yet
My thoughts on the 2013 APD (w/ pics) - it is a bit stiffer than 2012, yet very maneuverable and rewards players with fast, longer swing speed: http://www.tennis-bargains.com/2012/11/2013-aeropro-drive-gt-photos-of-rafas.html
Jc do an aero pro you tube video pls of you playing with it
Anyone know anything about a new Aerostorm Tour?
Strong rumor has it the aerostroms are dodo bound.
Interesting, with so many rising pros using it I thought they would keep it around.
72 ra sounds rough
Whats the aero pro s factory string its shipping with
Probably RPM Blast 16?
Looking for a definitive answer
My coach's came with RPM 16...don't see why they would use different strings so early.
Anyone know the UK Release date on these?
where are yu from in the uk
Need Clarification please
TW has aeropro drive 2013 swingweight as 316 and plus version as 326. This is evidenced by TW reviews in that maneuverability is very good on both of these frames.
But here is the confusion. Those mid-west guys have the SW as completely different. Aeropro drive 2013 as 329. and plus as 335. Now Who is correct ? These are significantly different numbers. This is very confusing to me.
Also have you seen the TW playtest video ? Very impressive indeed.
Agree with thecrusher956, but have heard the same from a Babolat rep that the Aero Storm was being discontinued. What racquet do you think the guys like Sock & Steve Johnson will go to?
And they have the PDR 2012 SW = 315, TW has the SW = 328. I guess ask for the spec when you decide to buy one/a pair.
I playtested the 2013 APD, and measured the SW. Mine was 325.
do you think the aeropro drive gt 2013 is worth to switch too?
There is a a sticky with reviews.
I think they will probablly use there same racquets with an aeropro paintjob...or maybe switch to pure storms?
Speaking of paint jobs, I am anxiously awaiting the French Open version of this new Aeropro......
Think you'll have to wait until 2014 for that. I don't think they do the French Open paint job in the first year of the racquet.
Are you talking about aeropro Plus 2013 ? or regular version ? TW has the plus version as 326 which would fit your measured SW.
TW is an average of six or so frames. Most others measure one.
So all the figures given are plausible, The data of tw university, i think, relates to just one.
The bottom line is that you could choose a swingweight from tw, but for most people it'll be a lucky dip.
The singweight of the regular apd on twu is only 306, which is obviously on the low side and others have 325, so an average of 316 is plausible.
Looking around these are the listed swing-weights from various sites.
TP: Not listed
TE: Not listed
TW Racquet Finder: 316
Are you kidding me ? you are saying Swingweight can vary from 306 to 325 ? Those are 2 completely different rackets, you are talking about. also then why does most places have the static weight as same ?
A static weight is easier to target than a swingweight, but again the static weight on tw is an average.
The sw on twu is 306 for the standard and 330 for the plus, but on the description pages they are averages.
Both the drive and apd came in with lower average swingweights and the reviews have noticed this, so its accurate.
But because of the perhaps wider variation of spec this time around its more of a lucky dip unless you specifiy what you want with this upgrade.
Specify what you want with this upgrade? what do you mean by this ? When I order from TW, I can tell them I want one with swingweight of 306 Strung ? Then they will give it to me ???
What if that one doesn't exist in their pool of 100 rackets on the shelf?
Upgraded version of the racquet, but yes they used to try to get your preferred swingweight range for free, but I think they now make a small fee to get roughly what you want.
I've not used the service but apparently you need to call.
Considering that there is about a 10 +/- point increase in swing weight of the Plus versions of the PD 2012, PDR 2012 over the standard length version I would say the 314/316 for standard AeroPro Drives and 326 for the Plus version would be accurate.
TWE cannot have any specs for the 2013 APD. The 2013 version is not available in Europe before December 1. ;-)
Im sure tw america just emails over the specs that they've calculated.
