But she can't play him!
Ehh, now I hope Li Na will take this match as a good starting point for an awesome 2013 season!
That was her 100th point btw.
"I can cry a Roger..."
damn Senti was first on this!
The good guys don't always win. It's going to take some doing for The Owl to ever be respected.
Muted celebration Vika.
Why did Pam Shriver apologize for Redfoo?
Only tuned in for the last 2 games. Can I get a synopsis? I'm hearing about an injury?
Sigh, now this is gonna be one awkward trophy ceremony.
You think that's fake? Really? Pathetic post.
Because he's an idiot?
You could hear him saying "F***ing amazing, F***ing amazing" to her. And what guitarplayer said.....
Congratulations to Azarenka. Li put up a good fight, hope she will have a good 2013.
Stick a fork in Li Na. . . She is DONE!
Congrats to Vika for defending her title, at her best Serena is probably still the best player in the world but Azarenka is a legit #1.
Great start of the year for Li Na overall, nice rebound from her mediocre 2012, I expect good things from her this year.
^^ This. I really hope he hasn't given any of his diseases to Vika
An entertaining match nonetheless, congrats to Vika. Best of luck to Li Na. I wish you a speedy recovery.
B/P Vika 9/12 and B/P Li Na 7/18. She should have won this match.
Oz has not been lucky for Li.. 2 final losses after winning first set
Thank you for the saving grace of the day!
ha ha ha
. . . . .
Please, after that joke of a choke Na is finished, especialy at age 31 already.
As i've said--Azarenka was hunrgy to establish herself as the best of the new guard, and she has accomplished that in more than convincing fashion. She's a serious fighter, and after the way she fought Serena in last year's USO, I gained much respect for this champion.
Well done, Victoria Azarenka!
Thanks, couldn't make it out with all the other noise
In a way, I'm glad she won - I don't like it when crowds try and make out individual players to be pantomime villains and overtly dislike them, cheering double-faults and so on.
I was rooting for Vika as soon as I heard the crowd doing that.
Pam Shriver is in the wrong profession.
She needs to open a car dealership.
LOL @ Pam Shriver saying that tennis has made a great recovery, none of these gals have anything on Justine
Gutted for Li Na, if not for the tumbles who knows what might have happened?
It's suddenly occurred to me that Azarenka is younger than me
The future of Asian tennis has been knocked down
I wish Sharapova survived Li Na's wrath and played godmode against Azarenka.
Right? Does she think that we as the spectators don't have eyes? or brains?
Towards the middle of 2nd set, Li went back her old technique of hitting too flat and started making too many UE's.. she did make required changes but still too many UE's in the end
Hope that guy from Kia doesn't start speaking again... ughh
I can't wait for Clown Trophy for both mens and womens singles.
Currend year award winners:
Victoria Azarenka and Nicolas Almagro
This has to go down as one of the ugliest slam victories ever. Saved by a Hampton back injury, spared from Serena by a grapefruit-sized ankle, and boosted by 3 potential injuries in this one.
I will never cheer for Azarenka. The sooner she loses the #1 ranking the better.
I disagree... its only possible to think that if she had a brain
Expected. Too bad.
She will always be a one set player.
Justice was not served tonight. I've lost a ton of respect for Azarenka, but congrats to her.
HA! I love Australia, where else could an official say "Buggered" during a trophy presentation?
Oh, leave Pam alone...she's just doing her job!
The new form that Carlos instilled worked magic during 1st set!
Then she started losing that form and reverted to old self...
Those 2 falls really accelerated the breakdown...
But i thank Li for holding up to the end.
Thank you Li.
. . . . .
She's a very late bloomer, I wouldn't be sure of her being finished at 31.
I think Carlos Rodriguez is excellent for her.
Li Na: "I know i'm no young but i look foward to come back next year".
Yes, and yes, and yes.
Now we have 1 more legitimate tennis player to watch in WTA.
So,, we really didn't do that bad tonite...
. . . . .
I would like to hear Li's press conference if that ankle injury had an effect (even if it, she might not say it too)
They seem very cordial and friendly with each other.
Crowed warmed up to Aza during trophy ceremony.
what's your point?
If Kimiko Date is any clue, Li might come back a few more times than we would like. Lol.
Get used to her.
. . . . .
she has to thank Li for that...
Li Na can wipe her tears away with million dollar bills. But I respect her fight even when she's made enough money to last several lifetimes.
She's not Serena--who is powerful enough to handle the youthful players around her. She--like Schiavone--was very fortunate to win a major at this stage of her life.
BTW, Na had such a pouty, sour expression on her face during the ceremony. She needs to accept that she was outplayed by a fighter.
