They should move it to Ibiza
real tennis is played outdoors...
Incredible that Nadal has reached 5 consecutive finals after his 7-month absence. Nadal has got to be one of the most consistent players EVER seen on the ATP tour.
Agreed. Indoor tennis should be played on a video games console, not with a tennis racquet.
Any player who takes an on-fire Dj to a tie-breaker is twice as good as Berdych.
LOL you always put a positive spin on everything don't ya?
I bet Raffy was playing video games a lot in 2011 when he could only beat Novak on Top Spin.
Funny but true lol
damn, now we won't see TWO matches with Raonic tomorrow:
 Milos Raonic (CAN)
[Q] Ernests Gulbis (LAT)
 Thomaz Bellucci (BRA)
Martin Klizan (SVK) OR Philipp Kohlschreiber (GER)
Milos Raonic (CAN) OR Ernests Gulbis (LAT)
Tommy Robredo (ESP) OR Tomas Berdych (CZE)
Low brow sense of humor I take it? Because making fun of sick people is just so hilarious.
Yeah. I expect a rainy Rg this year.
Since when can Rafa win on clay ONLY if conditions are perfect :-?
Since we have all watched him get his a** handed to him in wet and heavy conditions more than once? It's no coincidence that Nadal has lost on clay several times when the conditions were rainy and wet. He almost blew it in the RG final last year because the conditions nullified his topspin. Oh, and Nadal himself said he doesn't like playing in heavy conditions and prefers it sunny and dry. You will probably argue against him too, though because you seem to think you know everything. Lol.
Is Barcelona the one that was played on blue clay that everyone hated? Wish some of that rain was falling here in the Southwestern US.....
No, that was Madrid.
yes my friend you are correct. raonic will not have two matches tomorrow!
For the first time since I joined this forum I have to say Clarky's right.
When did Rafa ever lose on clay because of wet conditions? He won in wet conditions several times in RG including last year's final.
He was losing when it was wet, only when they got off and came back the next day in steaming dry conditions. Rafa obliterated Nole.
1.5/4 sets were on Wet Conditions....Nadal was not even close to winning there.
Same as 2011RG and 2012RG. I guess Nadal is better on wet play than Federer and Dj.
You forget it was also raining on the 2nd day of that match when Nadal broke Dj twice in the 4th set.
Rafa is much much better than anyone on clay.
But clay is clay, not mud. Mud is a different surface.
Still he can win on mud, but the superiority decreases.
this is what's awesome about outdoor tennis... the element...
He is not as good in wet conditions now that he is a little older. Look at the first set in Monte Carlo last week, where Novak thrashed him when the conditions were damp and compare that to the second set in drier conditions which Nadal was controllling for the most part until the very end of the set in the tiebreaker. Of course Nadal can win and has won in damp clay conditions but he is better in drier clay conditions. Nadal himself has stated he prefers to play when it is hot out.
What were other times that he got his #ss handed to him besides for eight straight games in the middle of last year's RG? That's one match. Please give a few more examples to make your point remotely valid. And also, those weren't just "heavy" conditions last year--it was raining when they were playing. As in the balls were getting water logged as Nadal showed us with his infamously awkward right-hand throw of the ball towards the official.
Those conditions aren't tennis. As long as it's not actually raining while the players are playing, I think Nadal will be alright. Considering his fitness was an issue at MC, I'd think that he might prefer a little cooler conditions in the next month. I don't see him out-grinding Murray or Nole in 80 degree weather in Paris over five sets.
He struggled in the MC final. He nearly blew it in the RG final last year when the conditions were wet and heavy. He lost against Soderling at RG in heavy, damp conditions. Like it or it's a fact that a lot of Nadal's game is nullified when the conditions are heavy and wet.
Perhaps. I didn't see the Soderling match. As a Nadal fan, my biggest concern is his fitness and his intesity level, which he clearly stated after the match are inextricably linked. I hope three more tournaments can get him to where he needs to be.
Rafa has lost a few matches on clay (very few) and it was rarely if ever due to conditions. If Rafa's winning starts depending on weather reports, that's not a good sign because it's quite obvious they will often not be perfect. People are really going out of whack with the excuses these days. Chill.
Rafa finally woke up in the TB. 1st set in the bag.
hey verno when will rafa play?
Rafa looks woeful today.
He's playing right now and he looks half asleep  But it's ok against an opponent like Paire. 1-0 Paire in the 2nd set, on serve. Rafa won 1st set in easy TB.
Paire running around his forehand to hit backhands
I wonder if Robredo could upset Berd. Berd has been playing like crap recently.
Nishi is fighting like a lion in the 2nd set.
Raonic doing well vs Gulbis.
I want to watch Nishikori-Ramos and Gulbis-Raonic.. why aren't these matches televized?
Yeah that's a shame. I could only find live streams for Berd/Robredo. Tennistv should have all of them but it's not free.
Raonic laying the smack down on gulbis.
Ramos/Nishi is taking forever. Good for Rafa.
Grandpa Robredo showing some "ballz" out there!
Not surprised! As I said before, Berd's form has been poor for a while.
What is wrong with Bellucci?
Berd struggling to win a point at the moment
Gulbis hanging tough in the 2nd.
ETA: crunch time! TB in both matches
Raonic is through. Berd in a bind. Whoever wins that match will be pooped for the next one.
Raonic is through, saved a set point.
Like his chances against either of these two players.
And another awful perf from Berd. Robredo has already broken in the 3rd.
Almagro/Monaco: that should be the match of the day!!
Kohl catches a huge break
Milos Raonic 6 7
Ernests Gulbis 2 6
and the old man does it:
Tommy Robredo 3 7 6
Tomas Berdych 6 6 3
Raonic and Robredo have not played yet each other. Robredo might be tired, otherwise Raonic could have his hands full with him: old-timer, skillful, the type of players that rattle him (see Melzer, Niemenen)
Berdych looked horrible out there. Spraying unforced errors all over the place. Robredo was hitting balls right into Berd's strike zone the whole match... only to have Berd hit the net cord over and over again. Terrible.
I wish I could say that the clay is what is giving Tomas issues, but this is ridiculous. Berdych had balls hit right at him and couldn't keep them in court. Really bad.
He looked pretty bad during IW and Miami, but he looks even worse on red clay. Not sure what the problem is. Even his serve looks bad.
This could be Almagros shot to be the Spaniard that lies down to Nad in the final
did'nt berdych hurt his shoulder a while back ??, maybe it is still giving him problems.
Robredo's no joke yo
when will nads play again?
