This is one of the reason why I love the Dubai event. The big boys play, and we get some big time showdowns. Federer, Djokovic, Berdych and Del Potro. There is only one group of four that is unarguably a better combination.

Novak breaks for 4-2. Guy just zones on certain return games. It's unbelievable.

Djokovic is playing like a man possessed.. He is playing the highest level of hardcourt tennis I have seen in the last few years.. Not in this match, but over the last 1-2 years in general..

Delpo being too predictable with his service games and making too many errors*.

Perhaps he should serve and volley once or twice to make Novak think more about his returns...

His strength is baseline power but novak is doing it better.

Delpo serving three aces in the game and it still was a close game! He is serving much harder than I have seen him do recently..

yeah... Delpo needs to get Novak out of his comfort zone a little somehow*. Right now he's trying to out-grind him the baseline playing directionals. Especially on Novak's service games. Djokovic likes this.

    First set to Novak 6-3.

    * Your idea is as good as mine..

    6-3 to Novak.

The problem for Delpo, aside from the fact that his movement gets exposed, and his serve gets put in play, is that he lets Djokovic get into a rhythm with longer rallies. He's never been one to shorten the points with his power.

The time warning seems to buy them more time since they spend a few extra seconds questioning/arguing it.

If that was a time warning (I don't have sound) I think this is the first one I've seen possibly cost someone a game.

I'm sorry, but that is lame. The match was going at a nice pace, and the umpire just ruined it. I'm all for the 25 second rule, but if the match is going fine why interrupt it. I hardly noticed he was taking over 25 seconds.

I feel like it could have cinched the match for Novak which seems unfair. Now that they're back on serve, I'll be surprised if it goes 3 sets.

I haven't been watching from the beginning, but I'm glad to see Novak seems to be doing pretty well adjusting to not taking as much time between points. Has he gotten a time warning this tournament?

I know. I'm just saying it's a terrible time to enforce the rule. Umpire should have better judgement than that IMO.

Not once since the rules began, he just gets on with it, to be fair now he is so dominant the nervous points dont come up as much for him to go over the time.

Now to be fair, no one knows if Djokovic would've broke regardless of the time violation, but it was a crappy time to call it anyway.
