im guessing that they'll have the grommets that are on the new extremes, which will not appear on the radical and extreme lines.

No she's not. That's just a reflection from the lights on her glossy clear coat on her Instinct Paint Job.

The exhibition for the person concerned was held in Japan at the end of August.

According to the participant, new materials " GRAPHENE" is used.

Maybe I should wait to pull the trigger on the instinct then...they will probably cut it down a ton.

Yeah I like the current design of the IG Speeds (and I'm a graphic designer). Simple is always better and I think the BLX swirly and Microgel designs were really awful. I think the new Wilson stuff is going in the right direction, there's a bit of that constructivism motif to it, but I do like something a bit more modern and maybe something that's simple and clean. When there's too much going on, it really crowds the space and makes for a bad design. I hope the new Speed line has something that is not too ambitious because that tends to lead to something like the new Extreme 2.0 designs. For some reason they look dated for something that just came out this year. It looks really cheesy, hope Head doesn't go that direction again.

Except that is not what they did. The IG and YT frames feel different. The IG is definitely softer...

I wasn't saying that's all they did last time overall. lol I know they made it play better, I was simply saying paint-job wise, they just inverted the white and the black

Actually there was a pic floating around but it got removed.

Don't have it but as I wrote. It is very similar to the current Speed pj.

They are definitely replacing the Speed range and Instinct, I was told the Speed is essentially an update of the paintjob - similar to the Extreme change however I now know that the Speed range is the 280,300 and 315(Pro) exactly what the specs on the 315 is not yet sure given the different beams, weight and flex of present range. I am going to see the new ranges this week and will let you know whats there.

Ok, so seen the new range and some interesting news. The graphics are tweaked and stay with black/white/bronze for the Speeds and a lighter blue etc for the Instinct. A few frame changes though, the graphene is in both ranges (a matrix pattern inside the shaft which apparently stiffens it allowing weight distribution to be more tip and heel). The Speed range is Speed Pro (18/20,315g,22mm), Speed MP (16/19,300g,22mm) , Speed S (16/19,285g,22mm), Speed Rev (16/19,260g,22mm) all are 100in heads. There is also a PWR Speed (16/19,255g,26/26/28mm).
The frame is completely new, the old Speed rounded box beam has changed and it is now more like the Radical - flat on the outside and slightly elliptical iside the throat/shaft. Felt faster through the air and more polarised to swing in the hand but I was unable to actually hit with it at the time. When I put one over the other the lollipop head has altered and it is more elliptical (similar to the Instinct MP) and the mains/throat was about a quarter inch longer so I expect it to have more pop.
There are a few other models -Instinct Rev and PWR Instict to go with the MP and S, PWR Prestige and Extreme S.
Hope this is helpfull, if you like the 2012 IG range stock up as the new ones are a very different frame.

srl - thank your for the information! For the new Instinct MP, do you know if the strung weight has increased? Have the swingweights changed for any of the upgraded models? Again, many thanks, and please keep us updated.

The MP is 300g, 23/25/21mm, 16/19 and 100in head so seems the same, if the sell about graphene is true it may alter the swingweight (it's a kind of atom matrix that is inside the shaft and raised). The colour is more of a mid blue rather that the grey but seemed the same as IG MP and S but I did not have one to hand to compare directly.

So there's a slightly thicker beam on the new speeds? and slightly lighter on the MP's? is the pro going to be in the US this time and will it have CAP Grommets like the last one? and is the 16x19 still 27.2" long?

Hi, They are all listed as 27 inch and there are no cap grommets on any, it is definitely nothing like the present Speed 315 or Speed Pro. I have been told that they are available from Jan to coincide with the AO so watch for pre orders soon.

Wow that beam looks a lot different on the speeds than the current ones! I'm surprised the new paintjob isn't as different. They barely changed it! I also wonder why the Extreme line isn't getting upgraded with Graphene, they just got those S-Tech grommets.

The Prestige, Extreme and Radical line is the same - Prestige and Radical will probably have the Graphene introduced next year. The PWR line replaces the Star range (granny bats) but there is a Speed, Instinct and Prestige version of different weights. Each racquet line has a continuing colour scheme right through the range from player sticks (prestige mid, speed pro, radical pro) right through to a superlight huge head version in same colour scheme.
Shoe range is completely new as well and new Murray bag range very different.

Wow. I'm colourblind. When I saw the new Speed I could have sworn the accents were red but their brown.

    Nice. Wow. and Thanks.

Are these just concept pics or the actual frame?

The Speeds and Instinct look a lot thinner than the specs stated by a poster a page back.

    I'm liking them.

They are the same as the pictures in the Head brochure and the same as the ones shown to me, specs are as stated on the brochure and on the frames. Also have all the info on the new bags and shoes (clothing due later for release in March), the new racquets and bags will be available Jan as released alongside AO. Prestige limited edition paintjob outvin Nov.

^Ok. The speed looks a lot thinner than 22mm in the pic, closer to 20mm. I'll take your word for it. Are they all getting the s-grommet treatment?

Seems as if head is riding this YouTek thing out for another 2 years at least?

Was kind of hoping they'd stray from that, although the IGs were definitely softer than the Yts.

Thanks for the clarification on the PWR line, srl. I kinda hope this graphene stuff doesn't mess up the Prestiges. The IG was a huge step up from the Youtek, imo. Glad to hear the Speeds are going to be less round.

Yes - those are online stock photos.

I'm assuming no changes to grips/pallets? When they introduced the Speed line, does anyone remember if Head announced they would have a different shape grip, or did we just find out after holding them?

that prestige looks so different compared to previous models ... maybe it's just because there's no cap grommet but it just looks weird in my opinion
