Let's hope the result will be similar to IW 2011 :)
Rafa could go up 8-3 over Delpo. If Rafa won IW, it would become his best non clay event (only event won more than twice outside of clay). That + the master record on the line + 3 titles in a row. That's a lot to play for! I hope he's up to it. It would be wonderful. But I won't begrudge Delpo's first master title if it happens. Delpo is a nice guy and a talented player who- like Rafa- has had tough reversals of fortune. So I'd be happy for him. Either way, 4 consecutive finals to start the season is as good as it could get for Rafa and I have extremely positive vibes for the rest of his season at this point.

No Djokovic in the final, so this is the perfect opportunity to win a hard court title after so much time. I hope he won't blow it. :-|

    Go, Delpo

The Imaginary Injured is surely getting his veins loaded with fresh new blood as we speak...
Then he will go on the court limping heavily, so the world could see how very suffering he is - till the start of the match when he will start to run faster than Usain Bolt (but still limping between points!).... old same, old same:roll:

Dear darling Gentle Giant, could you please launch your most powerful forhand right between the eyes of the bloody b!stard? Just knockout him, pretty please!

(to set him deaf will also be good, so he won't be able to hear tio Toni's instructions and will have to rely on his own brain (or lack thereof))

While the eagle is on vacation, his worshippers should take advantage of this break and take some anger management classes.

I think this is too close to call - would be happy with either player winning.

I think Delpo chances depends more on how good he feels with his BH (top spin) to handle Nadal moonbals, than how tired he is.
Against murray sliced too much. I don't know how much of that slices are 'variety' added to his game, and how much because of his wrist injury.

Forgot to mention: there is a guaranteed ranking change after this match.

If Nadal wins he will move up to #4, if Delpo wins he will move up to #6.

Today's will be the 12th hard court M-1000 final for Nadal.

Player/nº of hard court M-1000 Finals/nº of hard court M-1000 titles:

Djokovic: 16 finals, 10 titles (lost 2 finals against Federer, 3 against Murray, 1 against Nadal)

Nadal: 12 finals, 5 titles (lost 2 finals against Davydenko, 2 against Djokovic, 1 against Federer, 1 against Nalbandian)

Murray: 11 finals, 8 titles (lost 2 finals against Djokovic, 1 against Nadal)

Being 5/6 years older, Federer has:

Federer: 20 finals, 15 titles (lost 1 against Agassi, 1 against Nalbandian, 2 against Murray, 1 against Djokovic)

6-2, 6-3, losing the last 6 games of the match is not a beatdown? Delusional as always.

It's not like Nadal rolled over Nalbandian in that final, David was up 3-0 in the second set (with a double break) which denies the fact that it was a beatdown as Nadal had to come from behind to win that second set.

Besides, I never made a prediction that Nalbandian would win so there goes your "hahaha". The joke is on you.

Yes, Djokovic is the better hc player today, I am just not sure he will be winning every hc tournament this year as many people think he will. There are other players to challenge him, including perhaps Nadal. We'll see, it is still early in the year.

I actually do not mind who wins this final, I'm just going to watch for excitement and not cheer for anyone. Either one winning would make me happy.

I want Del Potro to win because it will rock the tennis world to its very core!
    Exit Federer...Enter Del Potro!!! :)
Crush them all!!!!!!! Take out these wussy baseline defenders! Obliterate them with that blitzkreig of a forehand the way you did at USO 2009!

One positive for Del Potro is that Nadal's forehand has been dropping short a lot this tournament. That gave Berdych lots of trouble since it still kicked up so high, but Del Potro is even taller and has never really been bothered by Nadal's heavy topspin. I expect Nadal to win, especially if Del Potro slices as much as he has been, but Delpo has his chances.

After what delpo has done nothing would surprise me, but the way he kept slicing the backhand spells trouble. Rafa will eat that slice up, he is so good at running around a slice and ripping his forehand that delpo better not keep slicing like he was yesterday.

You mean like the way he was slicing his backhand 80% of the time.

Delpo had some success with BH slice vs Murrovic, but that will not work against Nadal

nadal doesn't moonball... please stop saying this... he hits a heavy topspin high paced forehand that kicks forward... it's more like a kickserve than a topspin lob.

That's a moonball, dude  He's hitting the ball up 20 feet into the air. Going under the ball and brushing over it. He's moonballing. That's what that is.

Last I saw, Del Potro is coming off wins against Federer, Murray and Djokovic. Maybe the slice helps him to set up his other shots. You have to be smart on the court instead of just hammering big shots everywhere. Even Nadal has finally learned that you can't just keep trying to run around the backhand to hit a hail mary forehand. Plus Nadal is still weary about his knees right now so doesn't want to put additional pressure on himself to keep running around his backhand.

Rafa does moonball! But he can play a bit too I suppose!! Anyway, hopefully Del Po for the win. He is on fire and I want him to win for tennis in general. Another contender for the throne and a first masters title. He is playing too well not to win. Blog updated below:

Can't see Delpo winning here. Very rare to beat Murray, Djokovic and Rafa back to back. The mental and physical effort takes too much toll.

I have sat in the first row watching nadal play and that is not a moonball. You have no clue if you think those are moonballs. In the gerber woz match the other night they were hitting moonballs, which have no resemblance to what rafa hits.

Indian Wells is slow, gritty and high-bouncing. AO and IW are the HC events Nadal is expected to win more than anything else.

Nadal in 2 easy, anti-climactic sets.

I gotta go with Nadal in two. I hope I am wrong but I can't see Delpo coming through this. Nadal will sensibly try to make this as physical as possible.

If Delpo does pull it off, what a run this would be beating three of the big 4 on the way to TMS title. I mean is there a bigger way to announce your return?

In 2007, Federer played Roddick in Kooyong, and Roddick won. Shortly after, they played in the Australian Open and Federer won 6-4, 6-0, 6-2.
